Nice collection. Good start. Cool centurion rustication on the brog. I’ve got plenty of scrap wood & I’ve thought about making my own rack but I’m not a very handy guy & don’t have good tools. I keep it in my mind though, I could rough it out with what tools I have & I’ve got nothing but time so… Your video popped up randomly. Nice to meet you. Always nice to find another pipe smoker. Very rare to see one out in public. (I never have yet, lol) I checked out your other videos. I was born & raised in N.W. Indiana. Lived most of my life here in sunny Az. Retired. Happy smokes!

Thanks as well for your comments. My tools are pretty limited…scroll saw, table saw, hand drill…and I do a WHOLE lot with just a Dremel. Happy piping!
@@magistersteveperkins I know those guys,& a whole lot more but I’ve never met any in person. I had my pipes on display for a very short time then my wife said they were stinky. I clean them after every smoke. Now they sit in shoeboxes. I think a dremel would come in handy in a lot of situations. 👍😃☀️🌵
@@OldUncleMike My wife is no fan of pipes, either. Fortunately, she hasn't said anything about the smell of pipes after they have been cleaned and are on that little rack. I can't wait until my son has time to work with me on an actual cabinet.

Great video! Are you a professor at IU? I went to school there for a couple years and then I ended up graduating from Purdue. I was born and raised in Vincennes Indiana. The reason why I asked is because you got the one meerschaum pipe at Brier and Burleigh. I was not smoking a pipe when I went there, so I didn’t know about that pipe store. But a friend of mine that lives north of Cincinnati, Ohio always gets all of us tobacco from there. It’s funny, i’m a lot older than you, 67. But I also have a fountain pen collection and started smoking pipe this January. So I’ve been smoking a pipe for a year. Most of the pipes I have are Petersons and Savinelli‘s. I also took Latin for two years in high school. I just thought it was funny. There’s so many commonalities. I hope you have a blessed Christmas. John!
Brother, you and I are kindred spirits! My wife and I both attended IU for our undegrad degrees (hers in education, mine in Classical Studies), and our children now attend Purdue! I have taught Latin for 33 years at high school and undergrad levels in Missouri, Texas, and Indiana, but never at my alma mater. I definitely want to get a Savinelli into the collection. As for fountain pens, my wife gave me one when we were still dating, and the collection just grew from there. Don't I wish! No, I purchased it on eBay. I vaguely remember that type of Prince Albert tin from my dad. I have one of the large, plastic containers of it with an ugly warning label. The tin is for decoration.
@@magistersteveperkins I have 2 that belonged to my grandfather. One is in decent shape, the other is kinda rough. I can’t open either one of them. The rough one sounds like it still has something in it when you shake it. There’s no telling how many of those things my cousins and I destroyed with BB guns as kids.
