I bought one back in 2016 for a $149. And I added a Winchester 1200 magazine extension tube I have 9 + 1 rounds of wonderful home defense in my shotgun. I' ve put a couple thousand rounds through it hasn't failed me once.
The Stevens 320 is a copy of the old Winchester 1300 series of shotguns which is the predecessor to the Winchester sxp (which I own and love). My father has a Winchester 1300 and it is super slick just like the sxp and the Stevens they have the rotating bolt which unlocks with shooting and aid in speed shooting. So for those looking at this shotgun it's built on a reliable platform.
Interesting. How does the Stevens 320 cycle compared to the SXP? I know they both have the rotary bolt system and I love the way it handles on the SXP.
I had a 320 synthetic base model with the 28" barrell in 20ga. I put close to 1000 rounds through it shooting clays and it never had a single issue jamming or running target loads through it - ever.
I'm a Winchester guy so love that this is a 1300 clone. Bought my tactical model for $199 at WalMart when they were still selling guns locally. Fits me (5'6") and my daughter (5'4") just fine.
I bought a fuel grade one in 2020 for about $160 and ran everything I put in it from cheap to expensive. Recoil pad was surprisingly good, I can stay out shooting clays all day with out crying after. The finish isn’t all that great and will rust if not cerakoted. It’s not fancy by any means but it’s a good value shotgun.
I bought the security model a couple years back. Basically an 18.5 inch barrel, pistol grip and ghost ring sights. I have had zero issues with it and I'm quite happy to have even found it.
Got a field model for sale a few years back. Oddly enough, mine is drilled and tapped. If you’re staying cheap, adding an Allen recoil pad for $15 helps make the LOP just right and helps with the recoil as well.
I'm actually amazed at how well my 320 Thumb hole 12 gauge performs, for a budget shotgun. I guess quality control was on point the day mine was built. I bought a 28'' 2nd barrel from a buddy for $60 and a couple chokes and add a limb saver to the stock for a better LOP. I'm not doing trick shots or anything like that, I mainly shoot clays and small game and Deer hunt. I mainly have it set up with the 18.5'' barrel for home defense. For a $200 Shotgun I definitely can't complain.
I have the same 320 thumbhole 12 gauge version too.. no complaints...shoots and cycles well....2 weeks after buying this I got a short barreled 12 gauge churchill pistol grip... FTE twice....oiled both guns and amazing
The mod choke I got with the field kit broke when using #6 steel shot, replaced it with a carlson choke, much better after. I do enjoy shooting it though, I'm a smaller guy and it fits me great. I got the 20 guage version, have gotten a turkey, two geese, and a few ducks this year with it. Paid 250 bucks.
I ended up buying one of these after watching Steve’s review and have been impressed. Turkey hunted with it and the 22” barrel was nice. It cycles smooth as our SXP. We shoot it often and enjoy it.
I have a 320 security, and I absolutely LOVE it. I bought mine for $150 it's totally worth every penny. the only shotgun I have that's any better is a Remington model 11 my grandfather bought new in 1924 and still going strong. Now I'm not saying my Stevens will last 100 years, but it may be the better bang for your buck.
Gotta tell ya that when using a shotgun, or any gun for that matter, in a defense situation, I think one does not focus at all on how the trigger feels when you shoot to save yer life! Same goes fer recoil which I think is eased by the adrenaline dump in your body in that situation as it gives you more physical power to meet the demands of the situation.
Here’s my view on it, it’s a $200 shotgun that I can buy later again if something ever happens to it. I had a Savage 320 security and gave to my friend. He’s used it every clay shoot and target shooting with buckshot and it still works. It goes bang, that’s all that matters.
There are thousands of reviews on the Super Nova but I do enjoy seeing reviews of guns I can actually afford and would buy. When it comes to a hunting gun reliability is a first priority and I feel there are plenty of budget guns that fit this. As far as this Stevens, as long as it’s reliable I would beat the hell out of it and not care. I would be too afraid to beat the hell out of an expensive shotgun. With that said, I am a big fan of my 870’s and would save a little more and get one of those.
I own the latest model of this Stevens 320 12ga pump. You look about my size. I had a problem with length of pull being too short also. I bought a Pachmeyer butt pad which added about an inch to the LOP. So much for the furnishings. Mechanically, It's been very reliable with a wide variety of ammunition. The only problem I had was the magazine follower. It is made out of soft cheap plastic. It got to the point where the first round was difficult to stuff into the magazine tube. I bought an upgraded follower made of something more resistant to wear and slightly longer. That did it. It loads that first round easily now. The rest follow up smooth as silk. I have fed it everything from birdshot to 3" slugs. It has not failed to feed or eject so far.
my parents got me the steven’s 320 when i was 13 for a first shotgun i’ve been an avid water fowl hunter since then and i’ve put several cases of steel shot light loads and turkey loads along with slugs. the only problem i have had was the safety sticks on fire and sometimes jams and does not eject shell but it’s probably from hundreds of rounds and abuse as i was a young kid but i would definitely recommend this gun if your are just looking for something to shoot skeet or as a first shotgun
My friend has a 320, and I have an SXP. Somehow the 320 is smoother in my opinion. (Maybe I didn't apply enough oil on the SXP, but also the 320 comes with a ton of oil from the factory. All the furniture are slippery.) I think for my friend, who shoots very little and only in good weather, it's going to serve him well. I will write a follow-up if anything happens to it.
The shorter LOP would come in handy during the cold hunting seasons when you're wearing thicker clothing. Warmer tee shirt months yeah I get what you're saying about it being too short. Cheap way to fix that would just to slip on a Limbsaver from Walmart.
I've bought the Stevens 320 Field 12G Pump for my first shotgun, and have used it for 4 years now for duck hunting and its done its job of dropping them, it is not to bad but I have the pump rubbing on the receiver also, and the pump is a little bit clunky also. I would recommend this shotgun for a first gun or a budget friendly gun. (p.s buy a Carlson cremator choke) it patterns well for duck hunting ;)
I have one because of the price. For clay shooting, 28" barrel, I have put about 300 rounds through it with no concerns. For what it is it fits the bill for me.
320 field model. About five years old but don’t know the round count. Been as reliable as any of my other pumps. I do remember it making a great boat paddle once 😂 just went and checked trigger pull out of curiosity (6lb 6oz) If I remember right Walmart had this for under $140 one time I think.
Stevens 320 youth and about 600+ rds any failure was me messing up the rythm whenever trying to go fast. But under normal cycling no issues. Love the recoil management with it in 20ga. Upgraded to a Winchester sxp. But so far very reliable and well worth when I got it for 180$
So I bought one of these for 50% off on a going out of business sale. So paid right around 105 after tax. Bought it as a backup gun for water fowl hunting. I ran close to 2000 rounds out of it ( target loads) for break in. Never had a single problem with it. I noticed during the break in that I hated the action. The action has straight sharp lines that just made cycling slightly rigid. So I pulled the action and did some Smithing, smoothing out all the sharp lines then buffed and polished. Ran another 1000 or so through it and man it's like a total different firearm. This now one of the smoothest cycles I've run. This past week we brought it snow goose hunting and with a pattern master full choke it was dropping geese out to 70+ yards (no joke). Ran about 75 to 100 runs of 3" BB with zero issues. It just kept working flawlessly. It got passed around the blind like a bottle of shine at a bonfire party as every autoloader was freezing up. I'm 6'7" and I've always liked a shorter length of pull so for me the 320 is perfect. The one thing I absolutely hate about this gun is the barrel finish tho,it literally terrible. If you spit on it, it rust in and 2 minutes. So for anyone who buys one plan on painting the barrel to keep it from pitting. All in all I personally love it. I'm a hard core waterfowler and this gun is always with me even just as a back up when the auto loaders quit.
if you want to start trying cheap guns try a hatfield sas 12g its the cheapest semi auto shotgun that I know of. I have one and dont really like because it has a very bad double feeding issue and has a lot of friction when sliding shells in, rather heavy gun, and the trigger is a little heavy. i would like if you tried this shotgun to see if its just mine that has that problem, most time they range from $200-250$. (yes i did clean it and still had problems)
My stepson wanted one of these. Got it for under $200. He prefers it to his sister's stoeger 3020 and his mom's m2. My only gripe with it is it rusts during the course of a coastal duck hunt. But at $200 that's to be expected. I ordered hydrographic film to dip the gun to match the stocks. Hopefully that helps cut down on corrosion
@@ragnarragnarsson3128 the rust is all gone. It was just surface rust that wiped away 100% with a lightly oiled cloth. But everytime I take the boy out to new jersey for Brant, it gets surface rust in 6 hrs of exposure to coastal air, not even getting it wet with any saltwater. I will try the kerosene as an added line of protection.
I had the field model for 10 years shot over way over 20000 rounds through it but cleaned it after every shoot and gun still was good when I sold it actually getting anouther one soon I really like them for trap shooting
I love my Stoeger m3000 and because I loved it so much I bought Stoeger P3000 pump and I loved very much too!! you should try those ones as well, anyway I enjoy watching your videos
I bought one of these in 2020 for way more than it should have cost, still don’t regret it, it’s a great shotgun for the money. Also saw in comments that you’re a Christian, God bless brother 🙏💪🏼
I have the field model. The LOP is better. My issues came when shooting clays in the cold. That was my fault. I didn't remove the gummy old grease. Once I did there were no issues with cycling. My part I don't care for is the length of the pump. I have jammed my fingers more than once and when duck hunting that is not great.
I love mine . cheap, very reliable and I got it for $199 Canadian at Cabelas . My 2.5 inch pocket folder knife cost more. Be well, have fun with your Stevens.
Maybe test out the Mossberg Silver Reserve Eventide. It's a decently priced synthetic over-under. I bought one recently from BassPro. There was a sale and I believe a rebate. It could probably use a little better recoil pad and the trigger is a little gritty, but I am really enjoying it. It does NOT have an automatic safety, so I really like that. I have to double check the box, but I'm almost 100% sure it comes with 5 chokes.
Testing Trigger weight....I wish you would quickly check trigger weight by picking up the shotgun by the trigger to tell if trigger pull is less/heavier than weight of shotgun, then you can put the scale on it. Quick and simple test. Love your videos!
Don't you Love it when some dude that has more money than sense does a review on your shotgun. Then you read all the comments and no one agrees with him. Maybe he should and try cleaning it a bit. Seems that the part started rubbing the receiver started after he put the weird parts, NOT, back together. Just made my night!!!!
We bought the stevens 320 black model with the 28 for my sons first shotgun this last year, My question to you is where can I get different choke tubes to fit this gun and what brand in 12 gauge?
Pump guns are for hunting so put on your jacket and vest to increase LOP, and a pump gun you need a little less LOP and.. third tip, don't be tall and wearing a t-shirt and...well, it went boom! I like when a reviewer tells me who MADE the shotgun, not just who imported it. In this case, I think it's made in China instead of Turkey? Last tip... for shooting at 15 feet.. unscrew the turkey choke, put it in your pocket, and shoot bare threads.
I just went and bought me one of them guns that you are testing there I have not shot it yet but I cannot wait to shoot it my gun is the standard model it's just brack and don't got the camouflage on it and mine is a Stevens 320 but mine is just the black stock no camo on it and I bought it to take a turkey hunting and do some squirrel hunting with it later on in the season about a mile from local Walmart and I only gave her a hundred and some dollars for and I cannot wait to take it in the woods and shoot me a turkey with me

They are great little shotguns for the price point. Synthetic stocks are not the best... the old ones were wooden and n I t exhibition grade but far better. If you're 12 and you open up Christmas day that shotgun... unless you're a spoiled brat... you will be over the top ! You broke it down and the design is like many high dollar shotguns. It's not made for speed shooting and 500 clays a day ! It is a great entry-level shotgun. For the price... a 1200 Winchester or Winchester SXP... NOVA Benelli ... Remington 870... Mossberg 500... all in same price range.
Yep it's a copy of the Winchester 1300 which the sxp follows the designs of. One of the smoothest pump shotgun designs out there. Especially when you use grease on the action arms/rails instead of oil.
Chinese junk... Save your money and buy the Winchester. I know,...Turkish junk but still better and your not patronizing the CCP. It's bad enough that everything is made in China but your guns don't have to be.
As a new gun owner, I have to ask what the obsession is with the trigger pull weight? I see this in many gun review videos. It would seem to me that the trigger pull is a detail of the gun that one would just adapt and get used to. These guns, whatever make or model, are all over the place with their trigger weight, so what's the point of measuring it? Again, asking sincerely.
I bought a Stevens 320 earlier this year and my experience with it was awful. Not even 20 rounds in and it completely disintegrated on the range. After looking at it further, the cheap spot welds holding everything together weakened and broke it all loose. Irreparable damage. Don’t trust your life to a cheap shotgun for home defense, just save your money and get an 870.
i’d be punching me self in the face with a 13inch length of pull being 6ft 7 tall a 15 plus length stock is what i need 14.75 seems to be the best for most people these days

I have a 20ga and now a 12ga I love the gun I do a lot of swampy areas and it get used for alot of things
I'd like you to review the budget Yildiz shotguns sold at Academy imported from Turkey.
Benelli super nova plz
now, it's 150, unbelievable, cheaper than a box of 100rd buckshot I purchased .
I took an older one apart and a couple of pieces fell out. Time to teardown & reassemble.
You should try a shotgun from revolution armoury in canada. Mostly re-pros of very popular models we all love. I'd love to see your opinion on them
Don't you Love it when some dude that has more money than sense does a review on your shotgun. Then you read all the comments and no one agrees with him. Maybe he should and try cleaning it a bit. Seems that the part started rubbing the receiver started after he put the weird parts, NOT, back together. Just made my night!!!!
Length of pull is good with a hunting coat
I exclusively use 3 in high brass slugs in mine recoils not really all that bad I've had mine since I was 18 I'm 31
I love this shotgun
I own the hunter 320
and the security 320
I just got one for $260 Canadian at Cabelas on sale.
We bought the stevens 320 black model with the 28 for my sons first shotgun this last year, My question to you is where can I get different choke tubes to fit this gun and what brand in 12 gauge?
It uses win chokes the same ones the Mossberg 500 and the older Winchester1300 use.
Never shoot on bare threads; the shot is likely to damage them. Put a skeet choke in it if you want to get a wide pattern.
I just went and bought me one of them guns that you are testing there I have not shot it yet but I cannot wait to shoot it my gun is the standard model it's just brack and don't got the camouflage on it and mine is a Stevens 320 but mine is just the black stock no camo on it and I bought it to take a turkey hunting and do some squirrel hunting with it later on in the season about a mile from local Walmart and I only gave her a hundred and some dollars for and I cannot wait to take it in the woods and shoot me a turkey with me
320 was my first shot gun and while it got the job done for turkeys.. it’s rusted BADLY after the first week
Did you leave it out in the rain?
Tristar Viper Max is calling your name man!!!
Thanks for the review. Great job. Like your perspective.
The HR Pardner was $167 and is better made and a better clone of the Remington 870, with all parts interchangeable except the barrel.

Where is Reeds gun shop situated? Would you kindly make a video of CZ 10-12 semi-auto shotgun?
Had a 320 field grade liked it ok now my h@ r parader pump and my Winchester 1300 defender those I love and have thousands of rounds threw them.
At a glance, it looks similar to the SXP, with the rotating bolt face and whatnot, what are your thoughts on that?
I do believe it actually kind of copies the Winchester 1200/1300 action, which is essentially what the sxp is
It is the same as the Winchester
Yep it's a copy of the Winchester 1300 which the sxp follows the designs of. One of the smoothest pump shotgun designs out there. Especially when you use grease on the action arms/rails instead of oil.
Chinese junk... Save your money and buy the Winchester. I know,...Turkish junk but still better and your not patronizing the CCP. It's bad enough that everything is made in China but your guns don't have to be.
Got my girlfriend the black model and for 170$ it comes with more bells and whistles then my 12guage maverick 88
I’d like you to review a Retay
Maverick 88 $229.99 at Academy.
Love the channel. Keep the content coming! Thanks Daz, UK
You can get them everyday at Wal-Mart for under $200 in 12 gauge
I just got one from there (all-black model) for $200 OTD.
Thank you! More cheap shotguns please! Love your channel!
Do a review of the Hatfield sas 12 gauge
i’d be punching me self in the face with a 13inch length of pull being 6ft 7 tall a 15 plus length stock is what i need 14.75 seems to be the best for most people these days
I'd think manufactures would say ut oooo this guy might expose us,.... get him a good one.
