As a Japanese born in early 90's and raised by a single mom, when I first saw her, I felt I finally found someone in the western music industry who I could really relate to. If you've listened to her music, you can tell she's insanely creative. She's always experimenting, doing all kinds of crazy things and it works. She's only made two albums and they reek of authenticity and uniqueness. Who does that these days? Only of handful of the ''popular'' artists. The others are just fillers. If Grammy nominations aren't based on popularity, then why every year the most streamed musicians get them? Why not Rina or the thousand other artists that I'm sure work their asses off and create amazing things, yet remain unheard of. This industry is repulsive to its core.
when you just close your eyes in the dark and its 1am and you're listening to her music something just changes, it's like everything else disappears. those little personal moments are so sacred and important and I'm so grateful for her music
