you are both beautiful dancers and your dancing is wonderful but the piece is redundant, meaningless, not relative to the music and gimmicky. Frankly I think it's a waste of your talent.
Wow. Please work with this choreographer again, and with Xander. This was absolute magic. I've been a fan of your dancing for a long time, but this is art so beautiful I can't find the proper words. Absolutely wonderous choreography, made magical by you two incredible dancers. Also, such an amazing duo. Keep up the amazing work, this is so new and interesting and I don't think any other dancers could have pulled this off quite like you two.
bravo to all connected to this piece of art .... to each his own as far as critique is concerned...but you and Xander are truly great artists of ballet--your bodies, technique and interpretations are not to be equalled.....thank you all five (dancers, pianist, composer and wardrobe designer)
I LOVE this piece. Modern choreography should not be limited to modern music just as classical choreography needn't always be paired with classical music. The choreography is interesting and flows beautifully. The dancers are sublime. Bravo!
It's real wonderful. Every mouvement is linked fluently to the other, there are perfect lines...and a great expressivity! What an emotion, thank you so much for sharing it with us! And It would be wonderful to watch more of these choreographies...
@@MariaKhoreva Of course it can be considered as self-sufficient art. Modern dance is raw . Dancers have to show strong emotions. Audience pay attention to their every move , there is no pretty tutu or decorations in the background. In that one case I believe modern is harder than classical dance. When we watch ballet there is so much to enjoy : principal dancers, corps de ballet, costumes, sets and of course beautiful classical music and choreography with long traditions. To create enjoyable modern performence you need to create good, unconventional choreography and find dancers who will make the best of it. Otherwise it will be a failure
Beautiful choreography and piece. Love the beautiful score that goes with the choreography. The shapes and lines are so elegant. It is a true work of art. Wish you would hold the last ending pose for a moment or two longer. Hope to see this piece continue to evolve and be performed more.
Extremely captivating! A well expressed "perfect work of art" of how every skilled line is being portrayed in its true sense of infinity yet so heavenly to watch, bravo!!! Show more of this, can't wait!
D L gray, the music by 19thC Schubert is fantastic, this is more gymnastics than dancing, although admirable, perfect. To join it with classical ballet dancing and light flowing clothes of Schubert's romantic era would be fantastic. At least in my imagination.
I found out the very lovely music Is by F. Schubert, Impromptu no.3., the best of this presentation. Yes, Extraordinaly elastic perfect bodies, technique. The chinese are very good at this as well It gets rather monotonous, limbs everywhere in odd positions, More like gymnastics or acrobatics, than Dancing. Yes, modern choreography...not my favorite, i love Classical ballet but this rendition is the best of modern ballet that I have seen. The logo used for this channel must come from this piece. Many people see it as a spider AND point it out to Maria in the comments. I love her in the Classical ballet. A great Star already at such a young age.
Karen Noble, I thought I was the only one noticing that about the logo. I don't want to say anything bad. I think Maria is what dancing is gonna be like in the future. I won't adhere to that. I don't know if Maria reads the comments, but I agree with you that it's "limbs everywhere in odd positions". This is awfully boring to me, boring and tricky. I think after a few years of this, people will get tired of it. The technique is good, of course, I don't think anybody can say it's bad. It's just monotonous as hell. Lately I'm watching less and less ballet on youtube because I think we've reached a point, in choreography, and that we cannot go any further. I don't know what could possibly be done that would be new.
I don't particularly seek out modern pieces but I really liked this! Loved the music, the choreography, and the rapport between the two excellent dancers. I think it's always great when an artist tries new things, so congratulations on Closure & I look forward to whatever else you decide to try!
This was both sensuous and structurally phenomenal. You are one of the most breathtaking ballerina that I have ever seen; both the way you utilize your exquisite body, and the sensuous gestures you permit me to savor. Kennetti Shapiro
I’m usually not into modern choreography but this is absolutely gorgeous. I’ve never been so hooked! Also your arms are so fluid it makes everything seem silky and effortless... bravo!!
unbelievable ........................... Maria you opened for me a modern ballet which, as it seemed to me, I do not like. You have done the impossible. But only in your performance.
I think that the physique of a ballet dancer greatly affects the outline of the body in every move. The neck, shoulders torso and legs should be toned just enough to give those line perfectly. Theyre like fluid. Ive seen some ballet dancers, yes theyre graceful but the bulkiness of those muscles play a mojor role in every position. ♥♥♥
Agree, Toy, Schubert music Is gorgeous, there Is More good gymnastics than dancing, although both are great dancers in Classical ballet. The choreography Is repetitive, monotonous. Could be shorter.
These videos come from completely different, often completely unexpected places. Sometimes just kind people send their video files. That is why the quality is so different. And some performances remain unrecorded.
Great music, the pianist gets a star! The dancing is beautiful. A lot of work there. But this piece looks like it was choreographed by a dance major at a very small liberal arts college. I saw steps cribbed from at least six real choreographers, from Balanchine to Tharp. Some basic Martha Graham. And even some of the dreadful stuff that goes for "contemporary" at all those American dance competitions. Yech.
THANK YOU! I am 7 months late with this response. Scrolled down a long ways to find a comment which agrees with my initial impression. My reaction to this piece: University...Graduate level dance performance. For completion of a doctorate in dance, or something like that. Would be impressive, at that level. The music, by one of the greatest composers of all time, is made to seem monotonous. Except for a small bit of cheering, the audience response sounds lukewarm, and I'll give them credit for that much discernment. I don't like the wavy, serpentine movements of their bodies. Too predictable, for choreography which is supposed to represent a sexual encounter. As you mentioned...the choreography lacks originality. And the move with the dancer's legs wrapped around her partner's body...not at all original. That move is happening all over the place, any night of the week. Thank you for your comment.
I love ballet, especially when it’s not boring like the nutcracker. The dancing here is amazing, but the music is depressing and boring. Better music would have made this even better.
@@lapolonesaalpiano YES, ,the music by F.Schubert, 19th C. Is of the highest quality and beauty. Pure Soul music. Without it, it would be more very good as gymnastics or acrobatics, than as dancing of which there Is little.
