I was having a 4 course dinner in a 5 star hotel in Indonesia and had been informed there is a cultural programme of a local folk lore. So while knowing without much we were admiring the beautifully presented song and dance program while all my team members exclaimed at one point on seeing the enactment where Ravana abducts Sita in guise of a deer. This is Ramayan we all said almost together . Since the program was in local language we had not followed but this intrigued us and we asked the hostess about it and she was yes it is Ramayana and its part of local culture. A lot of Asian culture is imbued with teaching of Ramayana and its history no matter the religion. That's the beauty of Ramayana it appeals to the virtuous qualities in us.
This animated Ramayana was made by Japanese director Yugo sako in 1990 to 1993 and released in 1993. Yugo had done 10 years research on making it since 1983 to 1990 and started to make this animation in 1990 and released in 1993...... During his research he flew Japan to India more than 10 times. This is the best animation Ramayana ever made he made it very cautiously by putting its values and cultural morals.....this animation is most viewed animation in India. Almost Every children has watched it in his childhood. Ramayana teaches what is your duty about the family and society how a person's duty and ethics is more important than its own personal life and interests

Although all of us love this movie, just remember this not the exact Ramayan. Its an anime adaptation of the Ramayan story. What I mean is, not everything shown is true to actual Ramayan, like the forms of demons, the weapons, etc. However the main story line is kept intact.

And coronation of Prince Bharat ( Name of India comes from this name too);.

That lady your are talking about was Manthara, her maid. Manthara was a hunchbacked woman who had served Kaikeyi since her childhood. She was jealous of Kausalya and Sumitra, the other wives of Dasharatha, and wanted Kaikeyi’s son Bharata to become the king instead of Rama, Kausalya’s son.
For someone who actually read Ramayana, this just feels like trailer for a trailer for the original story, everything happens so quickly there is no way any one can understand why things happen the way it's happens. For example Valmiki dedicated one full book for the day Rama exiled.

There are many reasons we can call that why only shree ram was able to lift 1. He was the lord Vishnu himself 2. It's Lord Vishnu Leela(Play) which going to be continue only if Shree ram picks it. 3. It's the power of Love But I admire that one reason.. That bow was of Lord Shiva the god from the three divine gods.. Shree Ram first came and bow down to him before lifting that bow. Other prince was just trying to show their power and that's the message of this Leela. You are powerful that doesn't mean you will oppress people and make them believe what you believe with force and power. Either you come with knowledge or if you don't have the knowledge than you can only use the Power to protect the dharma. Other wise bow down with your power infront of God and Godesses. It will increase day by day and you will be given the opportunity to use it soon. Now there is a story behind Shree Ram's banishment from Ayodhya and it is related with King Dashratha himself(The father of Shree ram). At his young age he was out for the hunting and he heard a sound of water like someone is drinking. He thought in this dark forest this will be a creature so he used ShabdBhedi Baan(Arrow shot after hearing a sound without looking to it). After that he went there and saw that mistakenly he shot a young boy who was collecting water in the pot. The boy name was Shravan. He told King that:- "I was collecting water for my blind mother and father who are sitting there. I could not afford the transport, so i have decided to put each parent in a basket and tie each basket to an end of a bamboo pole, which I would carry on my shoulder while on their pilgrimage. But now I am dying and they are thirsty there they don't know that there son is died. Can you please give this water to them so they can drink this." When Dashrath went there and told them about their son. They started crying because Sharavan was the only son of them and the only son in this world who is doing this much for their blind parents. They were so sad that they gave curse to Dasrath that one day you will suffer the pain that we are suffering. You would hope that your beloved son is near to you at the time of death. But like us you will suffer his absence and later as the time passed he forgets that he was cursed and Karma comes back and he suffered.
I m really proud of dashrath and people like him exist even today in this dark age. Doesn't matter if they hav to take a huge loss, if they promise ,they deliver......i really hope i always stay on the path of righteousness, especially when its difficult to stay on the side of truth. Jai ho maharaaj Dashrath ji ki....he knew kekaye was being manipulated p, being the king 👑, he cd hav easily denied her wishes. But this is the greatness of our forefathers, they took oaths and promises to their death beds, becoz truth is the most important thing. I just wish i can get 1% of that purity 🪷. Dasrath ( king) had 3 wives , 1st kaushalya( mother of rama) , 2nd kekai( mother of Bharat who was as wise and kind as Rama )and 3rd sumitra( mother of twins lakshman and kshatrughan) Rama was most loved by everyone ( all the 3 queens and brothers , king and mainly the people of Kingdom) As Rama was the eldest , he was respected like god by other brothers (well it's kinda Indian tradition to respect elders like god). When all the four princes became mature , and the king became old it was time to decide the next king and Rama was an obvious and most worthy option ( because of his kind and wise Nature, the most loved one by people as well as being the eldest of 4 brothers) But mathra wanted more luxuries (which she already had as a servant of beloved queen kekai) so she thought she shall somehow stop the coronation of rama and son of kekai (bharat) shall be crowned . So , she manipulated kekai( she was also kind ) that" if rama became king then there will be no place for your son bharat in the kingdom who is more worthy than rama" after so many arguments manthara won , Then manthra Directed queen to ask for 14 year exile to rama and queen again asked her in anger why because she can ask for crown for bharat and that's it . Then manthra replied " o my innocent queen, we can make bharat king of the kingdom but what about the throne in the hearts of people where rama is already king" so they decide to throw Rama out of the Kingdom in the hope that every citizen of Kingdom will forget about rama and will accept bharat as true king due to his kind, strong and charismatic nature after everything settle down. So it's the whole story of 2 wishes ... And you know , when kekai asked rama to leave the throne for bharat and go to the forest, rama jumped and started dancing in happiness. kekai asked what happened Rama Why are you dancing, rama said," Oh my dear mother , that's what I wanted form very beginning that my beloved brother bharat shall become king , and you see now it's happening " and kekai started crying in the guilt of what she has done ...

@@zuzanareacts THANKS SO MUCH FOR REPLYING. i didn't think you'd reply. i mean it this is the best (the classic) series. everyone in india loves it, and we keep rewatching it all the time. ill be very happy for you if you watch it. though it will take a huge investment of time; (its about total 39 hours with 78 (30 minute) videos). but the amount of wisdom and clarity you will get from this is insane, because they have taken dialogues and poems and many other parts of the film directly from various texts. you will need a good attention span for this because they talk very slowly and there are many songs.
also the playlist of 78 videos i sent to you isn't complete, as there is a part two called uttar-ramayan directed by ramananda sagar which continues this play and shows what happens after lord rama comes by to ayodhya after his exile, it shows his sacrifice of sita, lord rama's sons luv and kush, and valmiki also meets rama play in uttar ramayan;

That old lady is Manthara and she was kind of servant for Bharat's mother.She brought Manthara with herself after marriage.
The old lady is called Manthara.. she was one of the attendants of Queen Kaikeyi...there will be attendants in royal palaces who would want to be in the 'good books' of some of the royal people so that they get extra gifts/attention/power etc... Queen Kaikeyi just for fell for it ... her love for power plus adoration for her own son made her blind to the pitfalls that the Kingdom of Ayodhya can go through who had unanimously chosen Ram to be the most suitable heir of the thrown
Ram's second mother " Kai Kai ( mother of Bharath) was alongside Ram's father Dashrath in a battle field, he passed out and Queen Kai Kai single handedly not just fought the battle but won it. She was a great warrior, that's why King grantee her 2 boons ( wish / promise). It was later used for Ram's 14 years in forest ( Dandak Aranya ( forest). And coronation of Prince Bharat ( Name of India comes from this name too);.

Always stand up for the truth, doesn't matter whose standing against it. Even if its ur loved ones. U must choose truth over them. Truth and righteousness is the highest ideal.

Even though my heart wd be in pain from abusing my own father, but in that moment it wd be my duty to stand for the Truth. I will hav to set a precedent for my young family members,, thats how dharma is preserved. If one commits adharma, it gives licence to others as well. And nobody then has right to stand up for truth. Thats our system of corruption in india today.

Actually as per practice in those days, a princess used to have many helpers/maid/companion, usually they used to be politically cleaver, protective, expert in dances, beaty care, antiquity etc. and they company / go alongside priencess when she gets married to prience/kings of other kingdoms!!

That lady your are talking about was Manthara, her maid. Manthara was a hunchbacked woman who had served Kaikeyi since her childhood. She was jealous of Kausalya and Sumitra, the other wives of Dasharatha, and wanted Kaikeyi’s son Bharata to become the king instead of Rama, Kausalya’s son.

For someone who actually read Ramayana, this just feels like trailer for a trailer for the original story, everything happens so quickly there is no way any one can understand why things happen the way it's happens. For example Valmiki dedicated one full book for the day Rama exiled.

There are many reasons we can call that why only shree ram was able to lift
1. He was the lord Vishnu himself
2. It's Lord Vishnu Leela(Play) which going to be continue only if Shree ram picks it.
3. It's the power of Love
But I admire that one reason.. That bow was of Lord Shiva the god from the three divine gods.. Shree Ram first came and bow down to him before lifting that bow. Other prince was just trying to show their power and that's the message of this Leela. You are powerful that doesn't mean you will oppress people and make them believe what you believe with force and power. Either you come with knowledge or if you don't have the knowledge than you can only use the Power to protect the dharma. Other wise bow down with your power infront of God and Godesses. It will increase day by day and you will be given the opportunity to use it soon.
Now there is a story behind Shree Ram's banishment from Ayodhya and it is related with King Dashratha himself(The father of Shree ram). At his young age he was out for the hunting and he heard a sound of water like someone is drinking. He thought in this dark forest this will be a creature so he used ShabdBhedi Baan(Arrow shot after hearing a sound without looking to it). After that he went there and saw that mistakenly he shot a young boy who was collecting water in the pot. The boy name was Shravan.
He told King that:- "I was collecting water for my blind mother and father who are sitting there. I could not afford the transport, so i have decided to put each parent in a basket and tie each basket to an end of a bamboo pole, which I would carry on my shoulder while on their pilgrimage. But now I am dying and they are thirsty there they don't know that there son is died. Can you please give this water to them so they can drink this."
When Dashrath went there and told them about their son. They started crying because Sharavan was the only son of them and the only son in this world who is doing this much for their blind parents. They were so sad that they gave curse to Dasrath that one day you will suffer the pain that we are suffering. You would hope that your beloved son is near to you at the time of death. But like us you will suffer his absence and later as the time passed he forgets that he was cursed and Karma comes back and he suffered.
The legend of Hanumaan is more explicitly explained.I hop 1day u will watch tht 2.

Doesn't matter if they hav to take a huge loss, if they promise ,they deliver......i really hope i always stay on the path of righteousness, especially when its difficult to stay on the side of truth. Jai ho maharaaj Dashrath ji ki....he knew kekaye was being manipulated p, being the king 👑, he cd hav easily denied her wishes. But this is the greatness of our forefathers, they took oaths and promises to their death beds, becoz truth is the most important thing. I just wish i can get 1% of that purity 🪷. That old cunning lady is manthara , she was a beloved servant of queen kekai. She manipulated queen to ask king to fullfill his promise and grant two wishes . Manthra asked queen for 1st exile of rama for 14 year, and 2nd throne to her son bharata( most beloved brother of rama) .

Dasrath ( king) had 3 wives , 1st kaushalya( mother of rama) , 2nd kekai( mother of Bharat who was as wise and kind as Rama )and 3rd sumitra( mother of twins lakshman and kshatrughan)
Rama was most loved by everyone ( all the 3 queens and brothers , king and mainly the people of Kingdom)
As Rama was the eldest , he was respected like god by other brothers (well it's kinda Indian tradition to respect elders like god).
When all the four princes became mature , and the king became old it was time to decide the next king and Rama was an obvious and most worthy option ( because of his kind and wise Nature, the most loved one by people as well as being the eldest of 4 brothers)
But mathra wanted more luxuries (which she already had as a servant of beloved queen kekai) so she thought she shall somehow stop the coronation of rama and son of kekai (bharat) shall be crowned .
So , she manipulated kekai( she was also kind ) that" if rama became king then there will be no place for your son bharat in the kingdom who is more worthy than rama" after so many arguments manthara won ,
Then manthra Directed queen to ask for 14 year exile to rama and queen again asked her in anger why because she can ask for crown for bharat and that's it . Then manthra replied " o my innocent queen, we can make bharat king of the kingdom but what about the throne in the hearts of people where rama is already king" so they decide to throw Rama out of the Kingdom in the hope that every citizen of Kingdom will forget about rama and will accept bharat as true king due to his kind, strong and charismatic nature after everything settle down.
So it's the whole story of 2 wishes ...
And you know , when kekai asked rama to leave the throne for bharat and go to the forest, rama jumped and started dancing in happiness. kekai asked what happened Rama Why are you dancing, rama said," Oh my dear mother , that's what I wanted form very beginning that my beloved brother bharat shall become king , and you see now it's happening " and kekai started crying in the guilt of what she has done ...

Like Lord Ram for his father and mother, Maa Sita for her husband Lord Ram, Lord Lakshman for his elder brother Lord Ram, Lord Hanuman for his guru Lord Ram, and all the monkeys & other animals for lord Ram. Ramayana is all about how emotionally we dedicate ourselves to our elders, no matter how good or bad they behave with us.
