loved this video, now I'm more curious about blending. I remember, after trying geometry, that I have changed my mind about blended coffees forever, and so, I'm glad I took the chance of trying it with an open mind. amazing.
Awesome video! Glad you guys are posting these here too instead of solely on IGTV where the viewing experience is so limited. Couple questions: did you grind the two coffees at the same grind setting? Is there a downside to blending as a whole bean and grinding together (similar to how in-bag blends are)?
I did grind at the same setting. This helps create a more even surface area for each coffee and with even distribution, helps prevent channeling. We blend our batches as whole bean, but for home-blends I recommend measuring out individually to ensure the ratio is correct. The only downside to that comes with complicated blends. We try to keep our components at a 50/50 so that it is even whether you brew as filter or espresso. If you have a blend of 30/30/40 whole bean, it would be difficult for this recipe to ensure that a 20g dose contained 6g/6g/8g of each component. This is where complicated blends can create inconsistency. Blending the grounds, like I did here, ensure that the home blend is exactly the ratio I want.
Great video. Will definitely try this at home. You mention each bean having different solubility and extraction characteristics. Do you have to take that into account when deciding on a grind setting for each. And is there any sense in doing separate extraction on each bean and then blending post-pour?
So, do you blend this pre-brew? What I mean is do you blend these as green beans or do you roast them separately and then just blend? I usually blend separate batches in roasts, then combine the beans post-roast. Let me know! I'm curious.
Our production team blends green beans! So, Southern Weather, Geometry, Monarch, and Tropical Weather are pre-roast blends. This video was made as an example of blending your own single origins at home.
The manner in which you describe the flavors makes me see how much I'd benefit from taking in more classes, Great job
Thank you! We take great pride in our practiced skills. Hopefully, you can keep enjoying your coffee and refining your palate!
Just made this same blend using the identical method this morning after watching this video on your insta last night. Fantastic cup! ☕🍒🍍🥭
You are a champion!

I've wondered the same... figure it'd be easier to get full extraction of each, but i think it'd maybe be more work than it's worth.
can I do these with an espresso machine? or better using pour over or french press?
