FLCL: Grunge - The Death of Fooly Cooly

- Fooly Cooly is my favorite anime of all time. It means so much to me and it hurts to see what adultswim and production IG are doing with the series. FLCL Grunge and FLCL Shoegaze are the new seasons to the series and I know in my heart they will not only be bad but also a mockery of the Fooly Cooly. I wanna talk about my feelings on the current status of the new seasons for Fooly Cooly and what I think about what is happening to FLCLs legacy

FLCL (Japanese: フリクリ, Hepburn: Furi Kuri, pronounced in English as Fooly Cooly) is an original video animation (OVA) anime series created and directed by Kazuya Tsurumaki, written by Yōji Enokido, and produced by the FLCL Production Committee, which consisted of Gainax, Production I.G, and King Records. FLCL is a story following Naota Nandaba, a twelve-year-old boy whose suburban life is disturbed by the arrival of the mysterious Haruko Haruhara. The six-episode series was released in Japan from April 2000 to March 2001 alongside a manga and novel adaptation.

The more i see what is happening to FLCL, the happier i am that Cowboy Bebop ended after 1 season.
FLCL ended after season 1, and there never was a sequel.
I think for me one thing that always stood out to me of fooly cooly was the wackiness of it. When I saw the animation for Alternative and onward it felt stiff. It limited the imagination of the stories I think and made them seem..boring. What made the original so interesting was everyone who was apart of it was having fun. Especially the animators, they really put in alot of effort and experimented.
the fluidity is due to high budget, I think. Prog and Alt have the "expected" budget of a 6 episode series, and while some bits for them do feel passionate, the budget and directing really hampered what they could do.
@@peppermillers8361 IG could have tossed all the money in the world at Prog and Alt's staff and it'd go from a bland cash-in to a flashy cash-in. What really mattered were the people behind the project. Take a peep at FLCL's credits and you'll see what I'm talking about. Money can't save an uninspired attempt at sequelizing lightning in a bottle.
Ya the original flcl had a few really slow parts but they made up for all of it with their crazy ridiculous style.
@@Jimothythe2nd FLCL doesn't have "slow parts" lol
@@SpookyDollhouse
basically all the bridge scenes, or the episode of Ninamori has a lot of slow paced parts
Its a shame with what they are doing to this series. I feel that there are a few people apart of the team that are trying their best to make these new versions as entertaining as possible, but the overall company itself just seems to be worried about printing money. Nothing can just be a classic anymore and be left alone and that just sucks.
It’s one thing to revive a series to reboot or continue a long running story but FLCL is in that weird area where it can only work if it’s creator is making it. Because he’s not, everything after is fated to be bad. Adultswim just doesn’t seem to care at all
FLCL: Reanimated looks amazing. You should do a voice role in it!
I just want another season of the og people:(
I love FLCL Season 1; it's my favorite anime of all time. But I hate their efforts to extend the franchise. The show was fine as it was.
They are gonna milk it until it is dry like with everything else.
I agree with everything said however from the footage that leaked of shoegaze, I may watch it, because it seems like something completely different from flcl while still being all chaotic. I would be fine if every new "season" just did it's own thing and didn't even try to be set in the same universe as flcl which is what shoegaze seems to be doing.
Shoegaze I know the least about and the director for alternative is working on it so I can see that one being okay. It’s just the principle of it that gets me. Reviving this series even when it’s creator doesn’t see the point seems unnecessary to me
Y@@JohnnyStar Ya I get it and agree however the creator said if there were to be a sequel, he wanted them to just forget about the original, and have the animators just do what inspires them, which shoegaze seems to be. haruko wasn't even in it. I would have prefered alternative and shoe gaze go by a different name and just forget trying to be flcl, but if they had, we might not have watched them. I could see flcl being anthology series like black mirror, except instead of revolving around sci-fi horrors, it could revolve around a chaotic and surreal vibe, featuring the pillows. I could support that.
“…shackle yourself to the original…”
Just say you did that intentionally, it’s fine. Hahaa!
I think that the soul of flcl is
1: Being about growing up
2: The Spontaneity
3: The music
I may sound crazy, but what about a flcl season where the soundtrack is hip hop or rap, you have a protagonist that needs to grow up but not in the sexual maturity way, like the original FLCL, but in another way. Maybe we could change the formula, no more haruko probably. I don't know, just spitting some ideas
Edit:
Maybe it could be an isolated teenager that needs to grow up and understand how to live in society and how bonds are important, the horns and robots could be, instead of erections (🤨), bursts of feelings to isolate himself or maybe, since there's moments in the og show where naota keeps the horn for more than a moment, Feelings of aversion to new situations that he will be getting annoyed about, and fighting the robots are literally fighting those feelings.
shoegaze seems to be completely lacking Haruko or any other returning characters. and honestly that's the way to go with a flcl sequel, just do something completely different and unique with the pillows as the soundtrack
You’re crazy. FLCL can’t survive without Haruko. She IS FLCL.
FLCL has always and will forever be set to the soundtrack of the pillows,
Haruko is not FLCL, FLCL is the passion and message of the show@@Trainlover1995
@@spacejohnny3001I'm saying that Haruko is the heart and soul of FLCL.
Well said. I was looking to see if anyone felt the same way about flcl as I do about the recent “sequels” and found this video. It summed up my feelings perfectly. Flcl can’t hurt me anymore.
im so damn sad, man... FLCL was so important to me when it come out in the west and now.... *sigh*
Im really upset how they're trying to recreate fooly cooly constantly but never learn the lesson
Did you ever make a video now that you’ve seen it? I just watched the first episode and man, the artwork is jarring. The characters like the babyman mayor or the rockman relationship it just didn’t feel like Fooly Cooly. I loved the original 6 episodes and I remember us fans WISHING for more FLCL for YEARS yet what we’ve gotten hasn’t really felt like a proper continuation.
I remember getting peaks of this show as a kid alongside bleach! Both introduced me to anime at such a young age and both were shows I never saw all of, only glimpses here and there, but still have fond memories of the shows. What I did see of Fooly Cooly as a kid had me awestruck, and all of the innuendos went way over my head, like Naota in the beginning, but after discovering your channel yesterday (coincidentally after finding the first season of FLCL on hulu and watching the first episode) I had a whole different understanding of the show and so much of it had finally started to click, giving me a greater appreciation for just how deep this show can and funnily can't be (since like you said, the interpretation of the show is entirely up to what you make it).
I wouldn't call FLCL dead it never was dead... But what other shows that came after FLCL
Like alt progressive now grunge they arent considered FLCL imo
I saw the trailers for Grunge and, while I was initially intrigued (and then disappointed) by prog and alt, am not at all with this. I will NOT be watching this for my sanity's sake. Here's to hoping this doesn't make any money and the series can end at Shoegaze.
Man, i only just heard there was a season 4 today and its not a great sign when your knee jerk reaction is "ah man, really?"
FLCL: Grunge sucks but i still hope FLCL: Shoegaze would be good
I've watched the original 20+ times and it's still entertaining. The next couple seasons weren't great. I watched them each once after release. I just rewatched them again to get ready for the newest season. While still not as good as the original, I didn't dislike them as much as the first time, probably because I knew what to expect.
I just watched the first new episode and it's awful. The animation style is terrible. I almost quit watching only minutes into the episode. I was waiting for something new and different to happen the entire episode, but it all just felt like they're going to go the exact same direction... it's pretty depressing. It seems they don't care that they're ruining the entire series a little more each time as long as they get that cash grab.
Let's face it, FLCL, the original is peak. The two sequels are dogwater, not watching the new ones anymore.
Another fun watch, keep it up! This vid reminds me that I need to actually watch FLCL at some point lmao.
I think the sequel to Fooly Cooly imo is Chainsaw Man Part 1. Not literally, but in the ridiculously personal aspects of the narratives, how zany it is and the parallels it has narratively with FLCL.
I think if they were to make a real official sequel to FLCL, they would need to find a director who really puts a lot of personal stuff into the work...which would ultimately not make it feel like the Original. It would definitely not be FLCL in terms of plot or theme, but the creative vision behind it might feel almost FLCL issh.
Tho ultimately Alternarive should have been it's own anime tbh
Tatsuki fujimoto has said fooly cooly is an inspiration for chainsawman!!
Chainsaw Man looks more in tune with Devilman than FLCL, though I get the comparison.
I was disgusted by it and I won't be watching anymore! It is literally trash!
Flcl and it’s predecessors are fantastic y’all brain dead for only praising the original
I’m exited for FlCl shoegaze, only because it returns to animation and it’s made by the alternative director
These flcl seasons are missing one thing and that is gainax
I.G. trying to franchise FLCL is the worst thing. It's so blatant. The only ones I'd ever trust attempting a follow-up would be Trigger/Khara, if only for the fact that's essentially where Gainax went. It also bears mention Yoji Enokido (the series' screenwriter) doesn't get enough credit and his lack of involvement in the new ones is severely missed. I feel he and the rest of the team who worked on it, given their own creative control, could at least produce a follow-up that'd actually /be something/ if ever given the chance. That said, Panty & Stocking going to Trigger is nothing short of a blessing. If only FLCL were that lucky, even if it never amounted to follow-ups.
nope wrong. this is the only one since the original that held the feeling of the original. animation is jank but this was the remake I wanted.
Okay but not the point. Again I keep getting comments of people being “well I enjoyed it so that invalidates your point” when my point is these sequel series shouldn’t exist at all
i hate the new show. but imma watch the whole thing
Bro I love FLCL since 2004. My favorite anime of all time. And I thoroughly enjoyed Grunge and look forward to shoegaze. I hate people that all they do is judge. Get over yourself.
All Im doing is giving my opinion the matter in regards to what I think is right. If you feel differently, good for you. Enjoy whatever you want to enjoy but that doesn’t make me any less wrong for feeling how I feel about FLCL
@JohnnyStar Seeing how much hate every other flcl gets. I wish they never even made the first one. Your right though. I didn't mean to shit on you. Enjoy what you want. Great video.
Are you going to make a video about your thoughts of FLCL Shoegaze?
I will, I want to do a big review for both seasons. Waiting till Shoegaze is done
It seems like the recreations get worse with each attempt the thing about the original FLCL was the EMOTION it displayed while also pairing it with a amazingly soundtrack watching naota grow up and break out of his shell entering a state of power where he feared nothing risking his life to confess to the woman he loved was sheer brilliance
I thought Grunge had a saturday morning cartoon vibe. I don't know how to explain it lol.
I know a lot of people are divided on it. And nothing will ever touch the original.
But honestly I’m still so happy to see that we’re getting anything from this show. I don’t think it ruins the series. But I understand if it leaves a sour taste in peoples mouth
I sure am happy that FLCL came out in 1999 and ended after 6 episodes! So great how the series ended on a high note. Sad there was never ANYTHING ELSE that came out but beggars can’t be choosers 😃
FLCL Grunge is nice. The story is actually really touching and the characters have......omg.....depth????? In FOOLY COOLY?????? For a 3 episode mini-series, I loved it.
Sounds to me like someone doesn't understand what FLCL was actually about.
I wasn't gonna watch Grunge, but Haruko's voice actor is back...
Personally, I didn't mind the 2 sequels. Were they perfect? No. Did they have their moments? I thought so. But it couldn't completely compared to the original or reach to. It was Grunge and Shoegaze is when Adult Swim crossed the line and when everything became creatively bankrupt with worse story writing and the sucky animation that felt cheap and a completely blatant cashgrab that they were (3 episodes each for Grunge and Shoegazd).
I saw Progressive to Shoegaze within a week. Progressive is the worst in the series. It has its wackiness, but the plot is a mess and I didn’t feel connected to the characters and it felt like a bore fest. Alternative is probably one of the top three seasons and close to a worthy sequel, although the ending is a bit weird and Shoegaze kinda ruins the ending of this one. Grunge is a prequel and I like how they show the origins of Haruko’s journey with Atomsk, Amarao’s gag from the OG, and it’s wacky and fun. But the animation is rough (both 3D and 2D, but there’s a few times it looked great and has a bunch of “that’s a great shot” moments) and the ending doesn’t make sense and feels anti climatic for two of the characters we follow. Shoegaze is a follow up to Alternative and I think it’s my favorite FLCL sequel and probably a nice way to wrap up FLCL since it concludes the story from Alternative (which is a prequel to OG FLCL as well), manages to make a love story that surprisingly works in 3 episodes, and it’s the one that doesn’t rely on The Pillows as much (there’s still music from them, but it’s not the same iconic tracks we heard in the previous 4 seasons) and it stands alone pretty well.
Something new and inspiring - arcane season 1
Something not new or inspiring - FLCL Grunge
which is so sad :(
As people try to make FLCL like stuff, they fall apart from FLCL.
I'm really looking forward to see FLCL reanimated!!!!
Well well review pron directors at it again!? 🤪🥴
I guess it would be cooly to see haruko haruhara background story and her planet and her❤❤❤ interest🤗🤗🤗😁 no but really enough of the teenage overflow and lets get some back story on the pink haired bombshell 😅
I loved Progressive as much as the original if not more. Hated Alternative because the characters were all awful. The animation for Grunge looks cursed, BUT, im looking forward to it.
Grunge isn't the death of FLCL. Its more like the digging up FLCL's grave and parading the corpse. The proceeding FLCLs are nowhere near as good as the original. Let the series rest in peace.
Youbwas completely wrong about grunge, episode 1 fear like the original flcl unlike alternative and progressive, wich weent bad story's, but just not flcl at essance
Im sorry but I really don’t understand what you’re trying to say here
When I watched the first season in the 2000s my brain felt all the dirtier after.
I just watched it again and yup, brain is dirty.
i think for me personally what ruins flcl's "newer seasons" (in quotations because i dont acknowledge it.) is the creators trying to overexplain the story and lore. i love flcl, i dont care if i dont get the full lore, i dont have to know the origins of haruko, at least not like that. its supposed to be nonsensical and weird and theres nothing bad. wanna see some crazy shit? robot coming of a teenager's forehead? giant irons? just enjoy the show, enjoy the moment u know...
First off, for a series that much like others has lore and deeper meaning it, there is nothing with people expressing their interest in those aspects. Just like there is nothing wrong with just enjoying for what it is. People enjoy things differently and can choose how to enjoy whatever series however they like. So not sure what you’re on about here
But secondly, my issues with the current status of fooly cooly have nothing to do with any of that. I make my stance very clear. This series was better off left alone instead of being reanimated and written by studios that had no chance of equalling the quality of the original and studios that went against the original creators wishes. I hate that I have to keep saying this because I say it in the video lmao.
Like what you like, who cares? But just because you like it and don’t care to engage with media on a deeper level doesn’t make you right.
Ngl I dropped flcl cause I couldn’t tell what the fuck was going on, pretty neat experience none the less
To be honest, I don’t hate it to me it doesn’t really ruin it because the original is still there and I think people are making a big deal out of nothing. It’s FLCL it’s supposed to be fun and chaotic and I think it’s nice to get something like this once in a while I mean, it’s not like it’s a deep written anime but I can understand why people don’t like it
I watched like 10 seconds of flcl grunge and immediately turned it off and went searching for answers about wtf that was
I fw flcl grunge heavy shii was tuff tbh the cgi ND animation switched cold asl😂
even the creater considered FLCl complete, and as such so do I. so anything past the originals dont exist to me.
we can all agree that flcl 1 and flcl alternate is better than flcl 2 and flcl grunge and flcl shoegaze
It took 20 years to figure out flcl is about just being young and growing of age.. the journey not the destination
Its clear they want to kill everything we grew to love. Its sad because i had hope but i will avoid the new seasons
As someone who has never watched folly Cooly I don’t have the most attachment to this show but do you think flcl could return with a modern adaptation and be more welcomed think something like urusei yatsura
The intent would have to be improve upon the already existing series, not recreate or reimagine. Or it would have to be something completely new with a complete new cast. I can see some elements being the same (in universe stuff) but it shouldn’t be a direct tie in
I removed my custom P! license plate already. I really only liked season 1
Idk how i feel like an outlier as a fan of flcl. Everyone talks about mostly about the lessons that the show tries to convey. Idk I never gave a fuck about that aspect, I like the show because of the interesting and different/weird sci-fi ideas they introduced to the show. That’s legit only why i tuned in, I’m trying to understand though is there like a split off? What’s canon and what isn’t. I just finished shoegaze and I loved it, I wish it was more than 3 episodes but i get it 🤷🏽♂️ Is that cannon?
and this grunge. Does it take place on the parrallel universe earth? That makes sense to me. Since how the hell is the pink hair girl present, and how is their an actual alien just around and everyone’s like yeah that’s normal. My guess is it’s a side story that takes place on the parrallel earth after the events with kana and the parrallel universes are created.
Criminal how little subs you got. Top tier content!
I think its interesting how critical a significant portion of FLCL fans are of the FLCL anime series. I must just have a really low bar, but I just put blinders on, and go in with no predetermined mindset. After watching the first episode, the CG isn't preferable to me, however, I still found the episode pretty funny and in the general spirit of FLCL. Is it the same as the first series? No, but the fact of the matter is when you combine its high level of quality, the fact that most of us were probably watching it when we were young so we have the nostalgia factor, etc. I don't think its possible to recreate the same magic. Every new series doesn't need to keep upping the ante, just give me something new and fun and i'll probably enjoy it.
I personally disagree with most of your statements here. First, as a fan, I did not grow up with FLCL. I watched when I was old enough to know what I like in terms of anime. Second, my question to you is if the series is never going to be as good visual, narratively or otherwise, what is the point of continuing it? Why not make something else? I’ll tell you and this leads into my third issue. The main problem is not really about the quality for me, the problem is that Fooly Cooly was never meant to be continued. It’s not being written by its creator who directed said the series should be continued. This is not for the fans, it’s not for sake of art. It’s retread of old waters for profit and thats my issue
Didn't watch because I don't want to die of cringe, which is in huge amounts here, based on the titile alone.
What do you mean, death of flcl? Do new seasons somehow delete old ones from the internet and history? Or do you just want to be seen as "cool kid who watched old anime" and thus if the anime gets new season, it ruins you image? The fuck is this title?
I loved original series, I liked 2nd and loved 3rd season. I'm open to new seasons. If they're good, they're good, if they're shit, they're shit.
Being a gloomy downer before the thing even comes out is truly against the spirit of the original.
So you admitted to being the type of person who will disregard 10 minutes of me explaining my point based you disagreeing with the title so that you can argue with me in the comments. If you can’t even do the very minimal amount of effort by watching the video and hearing me out, we have nothing to talk about
I think this is awesome! I feel bad for the people who can't enjoy it for what it is, it's basically a fanmade recreation, with all the characters we love and even the same music! I always go on youtube to watch new fan-made things on FLCL because I know that it can never ever be recreated but its nice to reminisce, if this ruins the original for you then you lost the whole point of the original. If you really like flcl then get fooly and watch this new adaptation, if you feel too cooly to watch it then be cooly and dont watch it. Me, im fooly cooly 😎
But it’s not fan made. This is not being created by fans who do it out of a love for the series. This is a company that has gone out of their way to ignore the wishes of the original creator to feed off of your fandom. If that doesn’t bother you, fine but this is not what you’re making it seem like
Some things just deserve to be left alone.
This is builds a mild amount of conflicting feelings. I agree about progressive & Alternative yet I'm just unsure on grunge cant say that i hate it. Also not much interested in trigun rumble but maybe i judged it too harshly idk
It’s the principle of it for me. It wouldn’t bother me so much if it wasn’t FLCL, a series thats how essence is based in its individuality. Making multiple seasons in the way they’re doing it makes so angry
I hate anime made with CGI they aren't anime.
“Coke watch me on twitch” you haven’t streamed in 3 years. Your Twitch is dead 😂
Uhhhh it’s in the bio cause it’s been in there for years. I’ve clearly pivoted from those days my guy lol
Ah yes FLCL one of my favorites too. When it came out on DVD, I got it, but it took 18 months. The distributor was caught off guard as to how much people liked this series. I also have all the music. Now season two was not bad, but the music was not nearly as good. Yes, I know your using the "English" title, but please, its Furi Kuri, thats how they say it in the anime :)
that's what i want to say
Hope you’re proven wrong and the new seasons turn out amazing.
Same
Probably not but anything is possible
No matter what none of these sequel seasons will ever be as good as the original OVA. And that’s the issue most people have. They’re putting money over heart, something the OVA series didn’t do.
...and what a shock, he was super right.
Ah yes, someone who thinks FLCL is solely about art and doesn't understand the narrative. Sigh... If you can't understand the story with your ears, you don't deserve to see the style that lends to this retelling.
Wtf are you even talking about? What about Fooly Coolys core narrative has anything to do with these sequels being made? I don’t care if these studios think they understand what FLCL is about and write continuations. First off, they fucking don’t which is made clear by the sequels themselves and they shouldn’t even attempt them because the person who originally came up with the narrative said it’s a waste of time. The person who’s opinion I happen to respect more. So tell me again wtf am I missing?????
@@JohnnyStar the point that you said "continuous". Stories don't need to continue from the original mold to contain the message within the narrative. That's why many people who grew up with western literature like Tolkien and Herbert don't understand Murakami. What you're missing is the symbolism within the dialogue and how that is supposed to connect with a different generation than how the dialogue from the original show.
And I will agree that not all flcl sequels are great. Progressive and Shoegaze do not understand that the shoe is about growing up and decided to place obscene humor for the sake of being edgy. But in my personal opinion, and as someone who cares deeply about narrative post modernism of many eastern directors and writers, FLCL, Alternative, and Grunge are amazing works that retell the same themes in a different light.
At least Kari Wahlgren is still voicing Haruko.
the way that it took them 3 seasons (shoegaze) to ACTUALLY listen to the advice of Tsurumaki is baffling to me (make a completely unique story with no returning characters or plot lines, do something completely unique and not related to the original flcl)
Couldn't agree more! On the point of the CGI animation, I really think that in general, it's just stiff and less expressive. There are good examples though, as you well mentioned.
Having only seen the first two episodes of grunge at this moment
I don't feel like it captures the essence of the original (basically impossible to do), but the animation isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be and the second episode steps things up in a definite way over the first episode
I never watched progressive and alternative so idk if there's any connection between them.
Also I feel like coming in knowing that haruko is a selfish narcissist does change things up compared to my first viewing of the original
I just cant believe they ruined this show with that god awful cell animation every anime seems to adopt because its cheaper
it's so sad looking at the grunge trailer. the original flcl is so authentic and special and full of soul. the cg really looks like shit it's absurd anyone would let it exist
What I like most about Fooly Cooly was the storytelling. I never seen an anime like it.
I was one of your students I accidentally erased your Zelda progress.
I remember, you owe me money kid
Jk, how yah been?!
@@JohnnyStar I've been doing good seen you on my recommended and decided to watch before I came to the realization that it was you
Shoegaze looks decent 👌
Honestly I’m just glad that their trying, it’s makes me so happy that they aren’t just forgetting about it yah know? Regardless if it’s shit it makes me happy and even if “nothing can beat the original””it’s a reboot”, I know that. Idk I just feel like it means a lot to me
It would mean a lot to me too if it was genuine. I cannot in good faith just pretend like this series is being treated with care when it’s not. Removing the original creator from the projects and ignoring his wishes on how the series should be made does not sit right with me
as long as i can hear the pillows on anime again, i'm here for it
Listen to their music online and don't watch the newer anime because they are trash!
@@wildcard2741 no trash flcls with the pillows in it, in my opinion
Have you seen the first episode of FLCL grunge?
Is it already out? Oh i haven't seen it
@@vigivigi9819go watch it and come back here!
Man it’s *dead* dead now 😔
This is why gatekeeping is important, and not everything needs to have all the fans in the world.
A cool 6 episode OVA gets a massive cult following, and then THIS shit happens. Sometimes it's better for something to be great and relatively undiscovered, rather than great and acclaimed.
Another great video my dude! 😎
I honestly didn’t mind the first two seasons of the new FLCL. I never really expected them to be as good as the original, because that was lightning in a bottle. It’s only natural in this day and age someone would try to replicate something like FLCL, and of course their efforts will fall short, especially when it comes to something like FLCL. As for the seasons themselves, I of course thought they were nothing in comparison to the original, but they didn’t really piss me off. They weren’t great, but I didn’t completely hate them, either. They just were not something I particularly enjoyed. Bringing the Pillows back was definitely the right choice (though they definitely shouldn’t have used them as such a huge selling point like they did), but a soundtrack only gets you so far. That’s just one element out of many that made FLCL what it was. FLCL Grunge, however, is different. From the moment I saw the trailer I hated it. That animation is horrible. It looks cheap and lazy. It seems like far more of a sellout than the other two ever did. It hurts a lot more than the first two. Seeing it reduced to THIS level really sucks.
you lost me when you said you liked that crapy trigun CGI shit, it just looks like another Americanized anime, that's the same thing they doing to this
Holy L
man... these are bad takes... people never read the fucking manga.
Blah, blah, blah...let a new generation enjoy this version, the previous versions, and the original. Get over yourself and stop trying to pigeon hold content.
So funny how I can literally spend so much time explaining how obviously wrong it is for a studio to steal a mans creation and milk it for it all it’s worth just to make money off the backs of fans and how it makes me feel as a fan to be boiled down to “you’re mad at new stuff, let people enjoy things”
Enjoy what you want to enjoy. Im not stopping you. That doesn’t make what’s happening right
only flcl fans can show some of the most uniquely stylized 3d anime out there and be like "this is shit"
You say unique like 3d animated anime have not existed for longer than a decade. This isn’t cutting edge, it’s ugly. I can list a handful of series that did this better. It isn’t cooler just because it’s fooly cooly
As a kid I never understood why people like the first season so much. And I really disliked how often it kept reshowing. And years later when the new ones came out I found out it was a coming of age story. I watched it hundreds of time and never understood it until in knew that fact. then I understood why people liked it. I never did. Now I do but mostly because of the nostalgia. I loved Progressive and to me it spoke to me better. Aggressive was also good. I kinda wish Progressive was shown to me first for me to have liked the original better. But that is just me.
I watched a lot of anime and I usually perfer originals and nineties anime. But to me those two new season where better then the first season. And I usually hate reboot culture.
NGL FLCL was amazing and beautifully done the first time and didn’t need a continuous it was wrapped up with a pretty bow and touching it again after is definitely a cash grab you can’t remix FLCL 😒
Flcl should have never been brought back I watched it so many times as a kid and as an adult I have to watch it come back again and again to be simply a poorly written fan fiction of the source material by uninspired npcs.
