    • @renataostertag6051

      Thank you for saying that. Even in the 1990s in some schools, not just in England you got the cane in school.
      The one you got on your fingers also was extremely painful. Girls usually were given the sticks onto the outstretched palm of their hands. Boys got it often worse.
      You could not write for days and had to hide it from your parents.
      Mind you, these were kids in the one digits (6 - 9-year-olds) and in some schools, kids got hit until they were 14 or so.
      That's why Pink Floyd made these political songs. When they were kids, they were hit like this and even worse.
      Such a shame that so many in 2021 don't know that. Did their parents and grandparents never tell them this?

    The poem which the boy in the video has written, is a part from another Pink Floyd song, which is called "Money", and it is from "The Dark Side of The Moon" album,
    The same album that has "The Great Gig in The Sky".
    I strongly recommend you react to this song.

    • @alfredristan3445
      @alfredristan3445 5 лет назад +8

      I caught that too. The Wall and Dark Side albums should be listened to in their entirety to fully understand the meaning in each individual song.

    • @tokpoke7396
      @tokpoke7396 5 лет назад +5

      At the time of the release of Dark Side of the Moon album, there was a lot of criticism on the relatively simple lyrics especially in the song 'Money'. So it is kind of a sarcastic remark from Roger Waters as a response to that.

    This was an anthem to a generation, 1979/80 I was 13 and just starting secondary education ( high school ) and this came out and was No.1 in the UK charts for Christmas, everyone was singing it, and so started my love affair with Pink Floyd.

    I remember my introduction to this song. In elementary school, during gym, the gym teacher actually had us all sit down while he explained that this song was about the particular circumstances of the British school system while the musicians were still in school, and so we shouldn't try to compare our school to the song. Now, I had never heard of the song before, or the band. So like everyone who tries any form of censorship, it had exactly the opposite effect. I couldn't rest until I had heard the song. Great song that I totally compared to our school. Thanks, gym teacher! :-)

    T hats how I always interpreted this song! For me it's about the way educational systems rip the creativity out of you, force you to conform. I was singing this in 3rd grade with a group of my friends not really understanding the message until yrs and yrs later!

    Unfortunetly PF is meant to be listened to in order and as a whole. He will never grasp the brilliance jumping from one song on one album to another. 😢

      Absolutely ! The whole album tells the story perfectly and even without the visuals from the movie.

      @@el34glo59 sorry but no. Their songs make 0 sense if you have never heard them before and play them out of order. Its fine if you have consumed the album and understand the concept and then go and listen individually. He has no clue what context this song has because he doesn't understand its a story of 'Pinks' life. He just thinks the message is don't need education. Just listening to a song like the trial without context would almost certainly confuse the hell out of someone.

    The best pink floyd versions are on the pulse video from 1994. Two drummers and you can watch the musicians instead of music videos from the 70s.

    SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND for sure your next song!!!!! It may be their pinnacle of talent in that song and its about there Old band member Syd Barrett. Also try ECHOES even just for your self - But you might consider the Live at Pompeii video, its pretty famous with Floyd fans. its a concert with no one there but the band. Echoes is one of there most atmospheric and epic songs and the vid of them jamming is awesome. Love your videos bro. Good vibes from NZ!!!!!
