- I found my old iPad and tried using it 10 years later! It's an iPad 4th Gen that was released in 2012, 11 years ago!! So it was really interesting using it now in 2023. Do you think iPads should be usable after 10 years or do we just need to keep up with the latest tech?

Its actually possible to update your apple phone even if it doesn’t show the update, you need to do it via a macbook! My brother has an iphone6 that didn’t support any more updates so he updated it with his macbook!
You can update it but only to the version it supports. You can’t possibly update an iPhone 6 to iOS 17.2.1. My iPhone 8 is blocked on iOS 16, if you could update everything to the last version we wouldn’t need to buy new iPhones. Now I don’t know if your brother used some strange black magic and he really is using iOS 17 on iPhone 6, but as far as I know it is not possible.💀
You can upgrade the version by editing the system.plist file to something like iOS 17 😂

The issue with the apps is just an issue for new users…
When you have used an app back to the days in most cases it let you download the last supported version and in many cases these still works till today…
But in the end it’s still pretty limited, it’s still great for media in special for your own media but modern things like steaming and stuff like this, I think in best case some Musik will work and I think yt should work at least in browser even when not the fastest…
In my case I would just use it for a media device to stream media from my NAS, some yt and surfing the web, I think with some patient it should work mostly…
Would I recommend it, highly depends on, when just for very simple computing task or as last resort for 32bit apps (mostly games i think) and when you can get it for cheap i would give it a try but if you want an modern tablet as pc replacement you must take for sure something which is much more younger…😅
Oldest iPad I would recommend the 6th gen iPad and above, on the minis 4th gen and higher, on the pro 2nd gen and on the Air 3th gen…
Everything under those gen needs to make at least some bigger compromises so it’s always worth a look but in the end it highly depends on your needs if it would work…
You can dowload apps if you go purchesed and you can redownload them
I'm still using my iPad 4th generation. It perfectly works with Netflix, Amazon and other OTT platforms :)

@@Alexander-ix2jp hi, u can't not conveniently download apps from appstore since publishers keep pushing to the newest OS feature, there's a workaround for this: jailbreak + install a mod, "appstore++" iirc, to view all versions of the target app and try until u find one compatible w ur device. wish u success

It’s not slow I have a pro and 4th gen and I’m surprise on how fast it still works especially with half a gig of ram very impressive.
I use it for quick watching videos and Netflix before sleep. You can use some apps that have older versions like Netflix and instagram and chrome, also there’s a lot of simple and old games (for me it’s very helpful for when I’m babysitting my twin sisters 4 years old, they like the playing with it)
Also the specifications are good especially on the display side it’s 2k for a 9.7 inches screen!! (the down side is the 1g ram and the old software) but for me it’s still useable for games and videos and reading it’s better than a lot of cheap tablets these days.
I forgot to say that the battery for mine takes 2 hours to charge full, and it lasts long it’s the best thing about it after the screen resolution. It’s 11560 mAh witch is better than a lot of tablets these days like the new Galaxy Tab A9+ is just 8000 mAh and the display is just FHD. The screen and the battery are way better even though it’s a very old device it’s 12 years old 😂

My iPad Air 2 from 2014....It works so fine today I decided I am going to replace the battery. I was about buying a new iPad....but why spending more if mine still works great just the battery has short Life.

No pens on iPads from that era. I am using stiil an iPad Air 2 from 2015. Being the "Air" model IS very thin looks like a 2024 tablet..for multimedia use and reading IS great because the iPad Air 2 screen IS top tech even today. The main problem of this iPads IS that After 6 years battery Life suffers and people just buy a new one instead of replacing battery. Apple has repair parts for 7 years After the release.
Yes it’s pretty good for reading because the display resolution is high 2k (2000X1500~) and that’s the most important thing for a reading device. But you can’t use pen, and there’s no night shift mode for comfortable reading.
I have ipad,iphone and macbook but I don’t know what a fun thing people like inside of this brand…I’m rarely used this…😂😂I used android phone in daily as main phone I’ve 4 android phone in my hand but only 1 I used the most the rest for photoghrapy or game😂and I like use laptop than macbook for ipad just used for watch anime or watch youtube…apple fan don’ put a blame on me …

10 years from now we should still be able to use iPad from 2011 … here’s why , if I bought any stock on the market instead? My $500 would have made money . Figure out the percentage . I have lots of apple products in my position . What now ?
