    I have a Precision and this is something I've wondered about. This gives me a lot of confidence now when I sail it in gusty winds. Thanks!

    Man, I found your channel because of your tractor. Then your whole way of being spoke to me. Now you’re teaching me about sailboats, which have always baffled me. Would you guys like to adopt me? Haha.

    Holy Cow! I was thinking of getting into sailing. I've only dealt with a little sunfish! This is a giant upgrade. But, after seeing you cap this like that and how just sits there? Amazing. I was super careful to never push my little sailboat. Even in super heavy winds, I respected my limits and the crafts limits. Great video. Great Sailboat.

    Thank you for this video. I recently purchased a used P18 that I sail single handed. My biggest fear has been capsizing my boat. Watching this has been very reassuring!

    • @Curious_Skeptic
      @Curious_Skeptic Год назад +1

      How are you finding sailing alone? I'm worried about my ability to handle this myself! I only have a year of sunfish sailing experience. That little thing was actually scary in heavy winds. Never capped it, but never pushed my limits or the boats limits.

    That 'desire' to right itself is amazing. The open topped dingy I learned to sail in had no sealed cockpit, so when I capsized it while learning the ropes I could not just clean the bottom- I could clean the interior LOL. Thanks for the well presented and interesting video.

    Thanks for sharing, looks like a very comfortable boat. Not having the mast in the way really opens up the cabin nicely. Great that you are able to pull it over to scrub her bottom. I would rig up a small pulley or come along to make that a piece of cake, especially with my crappy shoulder, lol.

    I did mine like that by accident. The launch site was in a little cove with pretty good sized hills surrounding it. I sailed out and got just past the hills and got hit by about a 25mph wind and immediately got knocked down (I was 90 degrees to the wind) it put the lifelines right in the water and I was standing at the base of them. I released the sails and it immediately righted itself and I set up the sails to be able to sail again. It was a freak wind and the rest of the day was a good sailing day. They are fun boat for the day or a weekend camping trip. Extremely low draft and great to get into little places and light enough to “manhandle” if you do get stuck somewhere. They sail like crazy in the lightest of winds.

    I used to have to clean the partyboat by myself with a hooka rig I made from an oil less nail gun compressor. That boat has a lot of surface area and it took awhile to clean. And the thing I noticed about time is that the difference between cleaning every 5-7day's was cleaning with a scrubby sponge and in as little in just 10 days was cleaning with a stainless Brillo pad and 14 days cleaning with a scraper and all of the above. On a boat that size with so much surface area the difference in cleaning time was emence. Like 45 min for every 5-7days to 2 hr for 10 days. I could never get the crew to help.. They'd just put life jackets on and play along the water line

    hey guys even cleaning the bottom of your boat you seem to enjoyed yourself never own a boat but it does looks fun but there is the maintenance part that you showed us in these past video tells me that you don't just buy a boat and throw it in the water and ride there is other things to think about that you have to do to help your performance on that boat by the way check your email if you got a chance if you are coming south to St.Augustine let me know you got the info you need in your email have a great day

    Try that with wet sails 20 knots wind and 6 ft seas. A strong wind can hold a boat over if sails are still cleated.

    I if you can just clean it like that you don't need antifouling at all. But I guess if I was going to attempt a crossing to Hawaii or a similar trip that takes about a month I would use antifouling. But with this boat you can tip it and paint half at a time.

      @@CarvingAPath Ours is an 87 as well. I can't wait to show this video to my wife. She always freaks out when the sailing gets good. I keep telling her that's how a monohull sailboat is supposed to work and that this boat is almost impossible to capsize. And if for some reason, the impossible does happen, you just get a little wet.
