My parents had a new stereo as that, during my teens, in the late 1970s, but theirs worked instantly, it just had to be plugged in. Nothing complicated. The receiver had an 8 track player and radio; the record player was a seperate mechanism. All of it played from two speakers. It had a good sound. Mom still has it, and it all still plays.
I wish we would’ve kept our record player. We had a some really nice records, some from the 60’s and 70’s. I should’ve kept it when my dad announced he was going to chuck it.
That's interesting. When I was 14 my parents gave me their old Hallicrafters multiband radio that they'd had since the '40s. I used to listen to short-wave broadcasts on it from all over the world. But that's probably not interesting. Also we had a coal furnace. The truck used to come by every month in the winter and dump coal into the cellar through the window. But that's probably not interesting.

Yep. That definitely would cause issues in a relationship. Rhoda and her sister had the same issue. Choosing to pleasing people over their own needs and desires. Definitely can be an issue with any relationships that you try to develop, and REALLY can make yourself unhappy as well. It's NOT a healthy, pleasant, or normal way to live. You only need to worry about surrendering to God, and being obedient to Him and Him ALONE. You DON'T owe ANYONE or ANYTHING an explanation, or whatever the case maybe.
