They are! TYT is angling that Hunter is being unfairly targeted for prosecution! And that is correct, so few people are prosecuted for lying on a 4473, it obviously does nothing! If Hunter wasn't such a crackhead, he would have never been caught and wouldn't have left a laptop with evidence of his crimes at a computer repair facility!
Bring forward the petitioners to tell their story about how a red flag saved their lives.

Yup, more than 20,000 separate gun control laws on the books across the United States. And not one of them has ever stopped a crime from being committed ! The pro gun / 2a rights groups need to get together ,and make informative TV commercials !

Would be interesting to see per acpita numbers. Harrd to imagine the number of people in CA stayed the saame, with everyone fleeing.
Unfortunately you have to look at each year to see trends, you can't just snapshot and make a conclusion. Gun death rate in CA spiked in 2021 at 9.0, and were actually at their lowest in 2019 at 7.2. So there actually is some significant correlation when you account for the pandemic-attributed nationwide spike.
I don't like it either, but I've gotta be honest with the data analysis. I think the answer is there must be a better way to implement something that addresses emergency needs to disarm someone who is actually becoming violent (or protecting their intended victim), without such a high risk of false accusations. Let alone having a "potentially" corrupt government be the one to determine someone's risk.

While I agree with your conclusion, it is important to recognize effects of covid related social, economic and legal changes over same time period. Nationwide violent crime went up quite a bit, so CA does look a bit better. Of course even if RFL provides some slight benefit - it’s like pointing out that doing away with motorized transport would dramatically reduce accidents and fatalities.
It's quite simple! Most murderers are criminals that have committed crimes before! The average is 53%. A staggering number also around 50% go unsolved. So the best strategy is to convict felons when caught and keep them in jail as long as possible! In NYC, which has no bail laws for everything but serious felonies, they caught an illegal with a gun but released him per NY bail laws. The Feds decided to prosecute him but by that time he had already murdered 2 NYPD officers! Red Flag laws are Unconstitutional and waste court time on people who haven't committed crimes. 3:22

Maybe they are working. How many people that had a restraining order taken out against them were then one of the people killed? What better way to make sure your victim is unarmed.

You’re looking at numbers and coming to a conclusion that the data doesn’t support. We have no way of knowing what would happen in 2017-22 if no laws had been made……same as they don’t know either
We all know that gun laws are NOT for reducing violent crime, they are for taking guns away and nothing else……..thus the laws have worked as intended
However, if you look at the trend before ‘16 you could make an assumption that the rates would be similar after ‘16 if the laws had not been implemented…….then make a comparison of what is vs what might have been
