Welcome to my Supermoto Build Series! In this series, I will be showing you the entire process of making a dirt bike street legal and converting it to a supermoto. This is being done on my 2015 Honda CRF450R. I'll cover parts needed, requirements, a little bit of installation how-to, but most of all, having fun showing you the choices I make to build a super cool custom supermoto!
In this video (Part 12), we install and mount the Trail Tech Vapor Kit, a speedometer kit for your dirt bike or supermoto! We focus on setting up the speed sensor to allow the Trail Tech to detect the wheel motion, as well as mounting the actual display unit to the handlebars. Pretty sleek setup if you ask me!
Enjoy the video/series or find it useful? Hit that like button, subscribe if you aren't already, and share it with your friends! It helps me and the channel out a lot :) Thanks!

Yes finally! This is a Monday night build series in Australia!
yeah m8
yeah i was like no vid and clicked sub box and see it time for my Milo
Good to see a fellow Aussie in the comment section
TRUTH
Oi Oi Oi!
The wait between episodes is so difficult but so worth it! Keep up the good work man.
Thanks man :)
Lookin good except for that bit on the caliper,I imagine it'll just blend in once the shrink tubing is on there though :)
I love this series. Next series NEEDS to be a CRF 50 replica build to the 450. That would be awesome. Just an idea
You're the first person with that idea and I love it!
Motonosity I love crf 50's, there are tons of motor swaps that bolt in, and you can get just about everything for the bike because there are so many aftermarket parts for then.
When the front suspension compresses, won't the wire that runs up the brake line and behind the number plate be out of whack?
yep hopefully he reads this comment.
As long as their is slack at the top bit near the number plate it'll be fine, I've got the same one on my WR450SM :)
Never had that problem on mine, it moves freely
Hey Motonosity! Your build videos have really inspired me to convert my Honda crf125f into a supermoto.
Awesome!
Bro make your vids longer and add more content please lord
Adding a Taillight to a DIRT BIKE [Supermoto Build Part 53]

+kennys87 Replacing a Spark Plug [Supermoto Build 794]
+Yotam K Washing my supermoto after a dirty Sunday with friends [Supermoto build 879]
+kawasexy Choosing New Valve Caps [Supermoto Build 986]
+Yotam K Putting gas on my bike [supermoto build 1003]
I really can't wait until the bike is finished
Love watching your build. I'm also creating a supermoto, but from an 07' CRF450R. I hope mine looks like yours when im done, minus the powder-coating. Too jealous of that!
I feel like you have to be an Austinite in order to get that Scott Elder reference. That said, I got my car there... lol. Love this series!
haha thanks bro
I love this series, keep it up motonostiy👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks man :)
lololol at the Scott Elder comment. Holy crap, that had me in stitches. I suspect you have to be a local to get it though.
those commercials play on the radio in Waco... They are the worst, thanks Fry.
Jared S They really are awful.
I like the brake line run up the inside as you had it
you were 6 hours late, that's illegal in my country
Ikr
wut? why is that illegal? it's not dangerous... it's actually helpful
+QuattroRMT bro just a prank bro
Jamil Watts k
+QuattroRMT he is 12 hours late for me😢
In next weeks series: "Adding air to the tires.[Supermoto Build Part 13]"
Whyyyyy is this taking so loooonng??
He's trying to have this short and sweet as to not overload the people trying to make one as well. Lol I dunno
It's called life.
+Motonosity oh yeah true but the moto is looking good!
Motonosity you definitely need to sell shirts like the one you have on in this video!!
oh right when I wake up good timing
Ikr
as someone else also commented u might think about running that speedo cable the rest of the way up ur brake line u have to figure both cable will travel up to12" upwards with the front wheel and with it behind the number plate might not work so well
push the wire around the inside of the brake line
and get rid of the connector, just solder them and shrink tube, one piece to the top, clear red etc, hides the braided line but. may clean it up how you want
Literally bike goals, I don't know how you have the time considering everything else you do. The looks amazing though bro
To all the people thinking it's taking to long and he's milking it, please show some respect.
I have a how to bike channel under " basicbikemods "
I know first hand he would rather get on with the work than film, making it take longer.
There are so many possible factors that are included in why its taking a while, such as money, time , avalible time of friends , parts etc.
can't believe people Bitch and moan about free content.
a ktm exc mask instead of the lightbar would be badass
addicted to this series. shout to scotland
I'm from England and so am i
+Jack Scales 👍
its getting close!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I miss you :(
I installed a trail tech and ran it behind the numberplate and from it moving with the suspension it began to chafe. So put some sort of cushion on the edge of the number plate to protect it.
you should put dielectric grease in those wire plug connections. that'll keep moisture out and help prevent corrosion.
This exactly what I needed to see to mount something on my bike
Bike looks sick! You should put the Rocket Exhaust dual pipes on it
Dual pipes are ugly especially in super motos! Just my opinion tho
The editing and work gone into the camera angles makes this series so much better!
Thanks Jon!
We are waiting for test ride!!
This tach looks pretty cool and apparently not that pricey either. Wish it had colors though, like the CRF1000L if you know what I mean but that's just for extra fanciness.
Just sat down and im watching the whole series in a row, and i wanna do this with a 2002 yz250f with a small back sprocket (39 tooth) and brand new plastics
makes me wanna build my own so badly !
I think a motonosity logo right under your light bar would look sweet
good luck on the meeting! i wish i could have the chance to come..
Dude your making my dream bike looks great in white and red but I would have done white and blue or red and black but you pulled off the look with the frame aka I would have polished the frame and swing arm
the bike is looking great
I stayed up all night waiting for the vid
Magnets!!! Magnets and JB weld to mount a small strip or any basic magnet 🧲 on the handlebar risers. And whatever on the bottom of the vapor. Could even style it out as long as it mounts which tied into the cables might even be the best situation since if a catastrophe happens the vapor will break free from the bars yet not go to far cause it’s wired in. And I’m sure you’ll figure a way to lock in the magnets 🧲 so the feel secure as if you’re one with the vapor though the bars to the ground! Like a Jedi,
I’m gonna be tryin to figure out how to put an air conditioner on my bike too.
Is the sensor wire going to be okay, given the high temperatures found in the braking system? A good idea would be some braided sleeving to disguise and protect the delicate cable and connector, and it would look better than a wire piggybacking the brake hose..
I am surprised you didn't mount it inside one of the floater slide pins(open rings holding the rotor in place-not sure if i named it correctly).
if the line is secure and mounted correctly it will not start rubbing other components so even if things seem close running it in the inside should not pose a problem. running it on the outside leaves the possibility for it to get snagged, not a huge deal on a supermoto, more common on offroad bikes running through rough terrain for example. usually boils down to preference but I dare say most guys run their line on the inside, as do most if not all manufacturers on their mx, offroad and supermoto bikes.
I agree with you. I don't think it would've had any issues on the inside. But we'll see. Not difficult to move it back.
FINALY! I was thinking you have up on he build lol
When you run out of content and still have to post vids...just messin with ya, coming along looking pretty nice!
we waited a week for a 9 minute video, and a 3 month bike build and counting😭😭😭
i know shittt
Motonosity Awesome series, I might be wrong but it looks a lot like your front brake line is installed upside down. Also routing the brake line around the outside of the shroud has no benefits compared to routing it stock, just eases the mind. Loving the way she looks, keep it up man.
It's definitely not upside down, but thanks for the concern :)
Just out of school looked at my phone and this was up😍
out of what???
I love love love love love this supermoto.
I just have a feeling you are going to wreck this bike so hard when it is done! lol Love the series
And I'll pick it right back up cuz it's a supermoto haha :)
look forward to the sumo build every week
Red forks would look bomb!
Nice man. Not too far now.
Notifacation squad
Put the break cable behind of the number plate it looks way cleaner and more slick trust me
Not possible route it there, man. Trust me. Also, this looks more legit :)
+Motonosity ok well thanks for the reply i love your videos and loving these bulids hope u do more of these in the future great work man
This bike is looking SO beautiful right now. I'm getting the tingles in my pants. I'm sure fry feels the same. Good job on that fender and the clean as hell speedometer mount job! Keep the build videos coming
What were your thoughts on using an LED bar as a headlight? Does the light spread have a hard cutoff to avoid dazzling drivers?
Is the sensor you put on the brake calliper heat resistant ??? Because if you go on the track the temperature will raise!!!
I'm loving the build so far but could you make the videos slightly longer because I get so hyped on Sunday and then this time it was just 10 minutes, keep up the good work.
Doing my best man. I can only include the work that I was able to complete during the week. Sometimes I don't always have a ton of time to dedicate to build unfortunately.
7:09 haha Fry got you in yo bathroom!
Hey Brent do you think when you finish your build you can discuss how much went into actually building it from ground up? I just got my M1 and i really want to learn more about bikes by building my own Supermoto. Im still in college so money is tight so i wanna see if this is a viable option! thanks!
Fry makes this series for me haha
Thank you for putting the line on the outside
The super moto build is coming along great, you are so meticulous with your work and your bike is turning out awesome because of that. Also I love the tunes that you play in these videos too
Bikes beyond beautiful but i think you should of powder coated the triple clamps red to.
This build is taking so long
true
He is either low on funds or slow as a turtle. Either makes it boring nor interesting
Try to build a bike yourself first, you'll reconsider your comment.
+Shannon Scott its the editing/rendering which takes time
+Dédé LABINOUZE so your saying he is building it fast?
Random Dream Cars Austin reference, haha.
I'm actually loving this build series!
Is the speed sensor mounted inside-out? The way it's shaped it looks like it should be pointing the other way. Might still work fine, depending how strong the magnet is and how sensitive the sensor is.
So I'm trying to do the wiring on my own bike but I'm getting confused on the entire mapping of the wiring. Could you dedicate part of a video showing which wires go together?
Btw it would help you get one more person to the Austin meet up this year :D
You should put a tracker and alarms on the bike also
ive got my magnet just stuck to the side of the rotor instead of glued on the inside edge like you have it. Mine works great, even off road. you could probably stick a bit of super glue under the magnet if you're worried about it and put it on the side if this set up doesnt work.
fry is such a savage lol
This makes me want to be a Motorcycle Mechanic lol
you should do a 250 2 stroke MX build
Are you able to mount it to the back? Seeing as it’s a wheelie machine. Lol
Questions on the speed sensor. Does the reading change based on where the speed sensor and magnet are mounted? Say you ran them lower or higher on the wheel? Or say you ran them on some 21 inch knobbies? Bigger wheels spin slower at 45mph in comparison to a 17inch at 45mph. Does the sensor compensate?
You program the Vapor to your wheel size. The position of the magnet doesn't matter since it will make the same number of rotations per minute regardless of position :) #science
+Motonosity True! Angular speed not linear speed. #ImANerd.
cool build love it, but zip tie electrical on break line where break line will always expand is not good. Rethink, maybe ok short term but constant pressure on electrical wires which are more fragile then brake hmmm, I can see failure there
Isn't it better in terms of look and practicality to install the censor on the back wheel? Would be easier to hide the cables, and it wouldn't move each time the fork is compressed.
super cool. unfortunately NYC would never allow this I think
RUclips can be a very harsh environment for guys putting their shit out there. For what it's worth, I love your vids and I can relate to the effort it takes to complete a build. The 80-20 rule is what makes most builds fail. The final 20percent of the build will take 80 percent of the effort! You have come an immense way with this bike and you should keep going with whatever you want to do... Again, for what it's worth I think your vids are great and should be appreciated by all... You might enjoy the older vids on Elliott Hulse his channel (no advertising here!). He has some vids on dealing with RUclips or business related challenges.
Thanks a lot for the comment man!
Ahhhh, the glorious 450😋
Dude your break system costs an easy 2k alone, just the the freakin front!! I have my break cable routed inside too.. and my breaks cost a fraction of that Supa functional moto art.. what’s the worse that could happen . The cable catches and rips the disk abs calipers clear off.. you’ll totally make your friends day who’ll obviously catch ‘em in his grill.. oh and btw I’ve never actually put a bike or fundtional bike together before I put mine together. I’m nearly finished just installing the vapor like you. Then riding up to pay the man to do a serious professional inspection before I go serious. But the wire staying inside
Won´t the speedo cable snap when tied to the brake line? Happened to me many times while doing wheelies. That part moves a LOT.
could you do a video on adding a fuel gauge on a 250 dirt bikes?
1990 Honda NX250, 1998 KLR650, or a kind of rough 2005 KLR650? (First bike, looking on craigslist. Obviously final decisions would be determined by bike quality)
Dude you should buy a busted up rocket, maybe an insurance write off or whatever and make a street fighter. I bet you would make a totally bad ass fighter.
Looking super clean as usual!
Preciate it man. Home stretch.
you should have put that magnet inside disc floaters it would be a more professional solition and probably would be 10 times stronger
sweet! trying to get a super but these damn bills
#tough
looks good!!!
Just wondering why didnt you guys put the magnet in the holes on the disc? Ive got my magnets in those holes and they sit there really good :)
With the adapter for the bigger rotor, the actual caliper (and thus, sensor) sit too far away
2:10 Supermoto Race Bikes have it on the inside, because if there is a little collision it won't break of
I understand being busy I just figured he was dragging it out for views I ride and work on my bikes myself as well but I'm a mechanic for delta though
I can understand that it might seem that way, but I'm honestly not :( Just got a lot going on day to day and I try to keep a nice balance.
Really enjoying the build series. Why didn't you just buy the mount that they make for the speedo? Any specific reason or just to cut cost?
I did! But with the LED bar, it wouldn't work. And I actually like this setup more. Almost like it's just held on with magnets :)
+Motonosity it definitely looks clean how you have it, and like you said what's a supermoto without zip ties lol
Looks so good👌
Is the speedo like fully water proof say I put it on a quad that goes snorkeling
Looks great!
what did you have to do to legalize the bike as street? ...I really wanna do a build but don't know if I could even register it
Watch the first videos to find out
Are you gonna cut more off the front fender on the bottom?
"you always got to try the back at some point"
Fry
