    The instant trim is the most realistic option if anyone is interested. The way to counteract the jolt is to click the trim lots of times as fast as you can as you’re settling into the new position. It has to do with the way magnetic springs are set up. You get the hang of it in time.

    Great video, thanks. I'm probably in a group that gets booed for saying this but I have way more fun in a Hind than the Apache. I love them both, but the Apache is so good at its job It just feels like I'm wheeling the bins out. For anyone looking for some helo action check out Red Storm Rising server ( I have no affiliation its just fun ) on Syria map. It is focused on Cyprus and helicopters, the island needs to be retaken one location at a time and helos need to build up troops etc and capture fields. Its light on numbers atm but its great fun if you like whirly birds.

      I like the play style of the Mi-24P over the Apache. If i'm in the Apache I feel like I need to be in sneaky sneak mode or else i'm doing it wrong, unless i'm doing convey escort or CAS. While being sneaky sneak can be rewarding, it can be tedious doing forward scouting for targets.
      I prefer the Mi-24 where you are almost always using the good high cruise speed at low altitude to pop up and hit targets, and i just find using the guns and unguided rockets in the Mi-24P a little more satisfying.

    Really wish there was more info on the Yaw AP/Trim
    Which setting is "best"? what are the end results?
    IMO they're over engineering the way its "supposed" to fly, without consideration that some of us don't give a crap and just wanna fly the thing with our artificial controls. I have no issues flying the Mi-8, why can't we have an option to have it fly like that?

    Excelent video, very clear and concise. Just one observation, the default trim option for the cyclic is the force feedback friendly one. The springless option is only for those sticks without spring. I fly with a Sidewinder FFB2 and using the springless option doesn't work well, the default option simulates trimming seamlessly as long as the stick is calibrated properly.

    • @LazzySeal
      @LazzySeal 2 года назад +1

      He mentioned during the video that system detects FFB stick automatically and hijacks all input for special FFB logic which is different from any of special settings ones. I think Force Feedback can be activated in main menu.

    • @CakePrincessCelestia

      Proper trim setting for FFB is basically Instant trim. Can't tell if other settings are ignored, always used that and it's fine.

    0:17 - This is very likely incorrect. The Mi-24's cyclic trimming system cannot use simple magnetic brakes since it also incorporates a trim hat beeper on the stick that can be used to change the trim position without pressing the cyclic trim release. This would require actual trim servos or actuators.
    6:04 - This is also likely incorrect, though I know that this is simply a repetition of what ED stated in their newsletter updates. I have seen a video (that I unfortunately cannot seem to find again) which clearly shows the pedal switches present in an Mi-8. I don't know what version of the Mi-8 that showed this, but I would suspect they should be present in the Mi-8 MTV2 module as well. Actual Mi-8 pilots, aircraft technicians, or engineers would be the authority on this, of course.

      Can you explain which settings would provide the most realistic Hind experience? I do not care for making it easier

    • @ErikScott128
      @ErikScott128 2 года назад

      @@MajFAIP short of actually having the appropriate hardware, there isn't really a good solution. I'm going to have to play with the settings myself. I'm glad they gave the option to map the pedal switches as a separate bind. That is certainly the more realistic option. I complained about that in my H-60 mod review.

      Excellent suggestion. I know this comment is a year old, but I'm still trying to get the hang of the trimmer system, especially the pedals. I get that a lot of this is user preference but when you starts out, you don't know enough to know what a good baseline might be, after which you can decide which setup is better for you and your gear.

  • @crazygmanssimstuff
    @crazygmanssimstuff 2 года назад

    Just a quick question. So the only way to trim the pedals is to use the cyclic trim button (if that option is selected) or to use the disable microswitch button correct? But I can't find a binding for disable micro switch and can't seem to change it from the Y key. The two pedal options don't seem to really help with spring loaded pedals, as if you want to relax your feet your pedals will move and thus enable the microswitch ruining your trim, correct?

    • @LazzySeal
      @LazzySeal 2 года назад +1

      Hey Gman hows cold war servers doing? :D Button on cyclic (like it was before) or microswitch button can trim pedals. As for automated logic of microswitch, just choose what is best for you. Micro Switch is AP Yaw channel align button in controls and I can map it to joystick fine. Maybe you have config file problem if you can't map it to joystick, try to save config and delete it from saved games, then when it will be recreated restore saved one.

      @@LazzySeal thanks man. Sadly have been busy with work so less time for Multiplayer. Thanks for the name for binding I don't know why they don't make it the same title lol.

  • @AdmiralQuality

    Why would detecting a Force Feedback stick have any effect on my antitorque pedal options?
    Also, it's not just having the FFB stick, it's having the FFB option enabled. (At least it used to be.) I know, I have to change it all the time. It's great in the choppers, not so much in most of the aircraft (and a few are completely unflyable with FFB enabled). The real kicker, not only do you have to exit the server/mission to change this setting, but it doesn't restore default spring forces unless you completely exit and restart the sim! Major PITA! (And typical ED laziness. Would literally take one line of code to fix that last part. And if the first part is hard to do, that's their own fault for writing spaghetti code.)

    • @AdmiralQuality
      @AdmiralQuality 2 года назад

      And does Y *toggle* the microswitch on and off or is it momentary? (Surely the former? We're not expected to hold a key down while we fly, are we? But if it is the former, how do you tell what mode it's currently in?)

    • @AdmiralQuality
      @AdmiralQuality 2 года назад

      And... does two trimmer buttons mean we now have TWO imaginary trim-release buttons too? Or does releasing one release both? (If so, why should it?)
      Nice work, ED. You've added a can of worms to the spaghetti code!
