  • In this video we take a look at how to make glass window smashing simulation in Blender.
    I mainly focus on cell fracture addon and rigid body simulations. And we discuss a lot more stuff surrounding these. Also at the end I show you how to speed ramp the footage using Davinchi Resolve.

    Everything worked great used the sim to add to my animation but one issue some of the particles we made are staying stuck around the ring which i used to break the glass with. they are floating circling and going through one of the 2 rings i have in the scene both have rigid body dinam/anim and one has the collision mod the one with the particles stuck to it is the collision one.

    Great tutorial ! I'm having one issue with the animation of the glass breaking some frames after collision before frame end glass animation freezes any help ?

      Glass breaking animation is stopping at frame 250 rest of scene is 400 frames

      In properties panel under Scene properties>Rigid Body world you will see an option to set rigid body simulation frame range.

    Could you do the glass bending then shattering that the Flash does when he was about to go save iris from being hit by the truck I’m Zack Snyders Justice league

      I would check the ‘animated’ box on the rigid body and key frame it, then animate the individual pieces of the glass in the direction you want, then re-key and uncheck the animated box to continue the simulation.
      I don’t really want to plug, but this is difficult to explain without a video, but I have a video that I think will get you the effect that you are looking for.

      Hello, I replied to you you already, but I think that I was thinking about the wrong effect. If you want a bend, I would make a bend shapekey on the original mesh, animate it, then switch to the cell fracture on the bent glass object, animating the render view toggle in the outliner, and duplicating the mesh and converting the bent shape before fracturing it. I hope this helps!
