Yup. definitely upgrading due to the multiple lenses, image stabilization and quality. Plus you can edit in Lumafusion for those fast edits! Maybe you can show how the iphone is a production powerhouse from capturing footage, editing and exporting?

legendp2011 Apple added OIS 3 years ago with the 7, and dual OIS on the X. Apple has had some of the best stabilization in terms of video recording and exposure control since the X.
Iphone have always had the throne in terms of videography on smartphone

1 thing to note with the iPhone 11 Pro is that it still doesn't have the ability to shoot RAW in the native camera app. Obviously you can get around that by downloading other 3rd party apps, but it just seems weird to not have that on a phone you're now branding as "Pro". The audio quality on iPhones still does sound a bit tinny compared to other phones but they are gradually improving.
I currently use a Samsung Galaxy S10+ and I don't want people to get the impression I hate iPhones because I really don't, but the Pro Mode on the Galaxy phones is excellent and gives you so much more control than you can get natively on the iPhones. Samungs obviously do still have their downsides though, the automatic photo processing is a pain because it over smooths and over sharpens basically everything at the same time and they don't have video stabilisation when you shoot in 4K60.
The 11 Pro still does seem like a super impressive phone, especially from a video recording stand point, the quality you get is unreal. I'd love to see how it goes shooting RAW using other apps because I feel like you could get some really amazing images.
Matt Norris I went from 7+ to 11 Pro Max. I love it. Can’t believe night mode. Looks natural where other phones/apps overexpose and looks like daylight not night. As far as sound it’s not “tinny” anymore. It sounds like my JBL4. Very loud/crisp/and more bass. Battery life amazing especially me who’s glued phones.
It’s not an iPhone .. they’re cheating .. it’s the DSLR camera look on the bottom left @0:23

How did you hold phone so steady on those low shots over the rocks? Do you use a iPhone hand grip?
Autoexposure still flickers a bit more than I’d like, and shadows still darker than I’d like, but that dynamic range looks so much better than my iPhone 8.
My God,I've never seen such beautiful sky footage like this before.
It looks sooo good! I can't believe that comes out of a phone!! There's some areas where it gives it away at times, where the image breaks up a bit, but other than that, I'm really impressed by the DR, stabilization, overall image quality and that wide angle lens! Sweet review Matti, now I want to upgrade my iPhone XS Max haha..

From what i've seen in my screen, the slowmo is soft and when it get dark the video can't catch up with real cameras, but for a good light scenario it's damn good.

That was by far the best intro I've ever seen using an iPhone. That killer track Infected Ground by Particle House was an excellent song choice. Talk about being professional level, you sold me on the features of this phone. This was a great review! Thanks to RUclips for recommending this channel and now I'm a new subscriber.
I got the iPhone 11 Pro the day it came out, i was filming on it and using it all day and then i finished editing at 2am and still had 10% battery left. I know its unrealistic to think this is going to last forever but i was definitely impressed haha the camera was a huge upgrade coming from the XR
Tom Koz I got the 11 pro max. 50% battery life at 3pm then 7% left at midnight with heavyweight usage was like wtf. I suggest you get a gimbal with wireless charging so it becomes a gimbal/power bank.

I definitely like the ultra wide camera for video better than I do for photos. Although it’s still valuable at times to have it for both of course.
I think motorized vehicles make all footage better...at least more fun! Thanks for the review Matti. Bought the 11 Pro, haven’t had a chance to really test it but glad I got it!

Anyone else noticing the weird sky HDR color changing/flickering issue at about 5:48? I’ve noticed the same issue happening on the 11 camera on all of the lenses, including the selfie camera.

Something has changed in this video. It's the resolution ratio I think, its very cinematic 'even the Matti's footage' It's a slight change and is amazing, It feels good !
Parth Verma the wide angle lens makes it look cinematic. I got the 11 Pro Max. Saved me from buying a special case for an anamorphic lens.

This video pushes forward the idea it’s always and will always be about composition, framing, dynamic range, and subject that makes things cinematic-not just DoF. Great colors helps too.
If he would use Filmic Pro he probobly could have got some DoF cuz I was missing it too :(

I appreciate you making a few vlogs that showcased the iPhone 11 Pro. I'm just starting out and don't have all the bells and whistles to film with, just the few essentials, iPhone 11 Pro, a gimbal, LiteChase Pro, which I saw your vlog on, a lume cube light, wireless mics and of course my MA1 and MA2. Watching your videos on the 11 Pro with the cinematic look gives me all the confidence that one day I will have nice videos like yours, thank you for all that YOU do to teach others.
The video shot on the iPhone11 Pro was incredibly cool. Makes want to get the phone even after having decided I didn't need a new iPhone until next year...

there must be a gimball i bought that phone and i cant make that effect, still too shaky vid. :( Only works well when you move slow and dont run or ride on bike.

I see a lot of reviewers saying you cant turn on and off HDR.... you can. Just go to settings and turn Smart HDR off, and it ads a manual toggle on the camera UI.

Shot on log with some thing like FilmicPro?
Thought it might have the ability to control the DOF in video using some computational magic, but I guess that's something for a future models. Footage looks like a GoPro, everything being pin-sharp, which has it's place. But any (much cheaper) DSLR is going to be able to effortlessly capture more 'cinematic' images. But it's certainly impressive for a telephone.
jacksonfilm yeah, close shoots look better with bokeh, something this iPhone can’t pull off, but a combination of iPhone and dslr should be awesome.

The video portrait mode on the Note 10+ and Huawei Mate 30 pro look really shitty, so I don't think this is yet something worth having on the iPhone.

@Oliver Thoms Maybe in a next phone if they can add some advanced depth sensor. Currently the portrait mode on any phone including iPhones works at best 'okay' for photos, with sometimes good, but often with noticeable flaws in background separation. Video mode just makes it a lot worse because it needs to be processed in real-time.

I really wanted Matti to say all the bits in the office, talking about the phone were also filmed on the iPhone. That would have really shown how epic it is.
Wide angle is nice but if you don’t have a lot of light then forget it. It lags behind the standard lens quite a bit when tested in same light conditions.

Why are these only tested in the best lighting conditions
Generally things are filmed in the best lighting conditions possible, bad lighting can make a great camera terrible, at the end of the day cameras capture light so everything should be about light
Of course you can manually choose if you want HDR on or off 😅😬
You can turn it off, yes. But you can't tell it to always be on. You can enable the iPhone to use HDR when it feels like it but not all the time. That was his point in the video.

Of course you can. Just turn off Auto-HDR in Settings and you‘ll see it next to Icons like NightMode, aspect ratio or live photo.
@@matty.j_1997 I see what you mean now, you're right. I will have to experiment with that to see if it really stays in HDR mode but will take your word for it. Apple seems to have a lot of confidence in their HDR because I no longer see an option for saving the non-HDR photo in addition to the HDR image anymore.

If it doesn‘t stay on HDR, you can choose in:
1. Settings
2. Camera
3. The first option (like „Keep camera settings“ or something like that)
4. Enable the second option („creative control“).
Then it stays on the adjusted settings you chose in the camera app.
(I hope you understand what I mean 😅)
Btw: I also shoot photos in 16:9 because every TV or PC screen is in that aspect ratio ;)

My question is not whether it will stay in HDR mode from shot to shot but whether it will remain in HDR mode as you move around in a scene (for video or still image). Just in playing around it seems like it does. In iOS 12 if you had the HDR feature on, the camera app would decide when to enable HRD based on the scene.

You can get the Halide and Spectre apps if you want more manual control of you iPhone camera. They work great.

What you was saying about the HDR... You can manually control when to use HDR, there’s an option in the main phone settings called ‘Smart HDR’. If you switch this off you’ll be able to manually enable HDR when you want!

Are you using the Pro or Pro Max size? Please answer these two questions: #1 As a professional photographer would you say that the 6.5 iPhone 11 Pro Max with the larger screen or the 5.8 iPhone 11 with a one handed sized screen, is better for photography? #2 Does the reflection (if any) from the colour of choice with the reflective finish around the three cameras affect the quality of photos and videos?
I would have love to of seen behind the scene footage of how you were able to actually film these angle and while skate boarding.
My reaction : when you said no gimbals 🤨 and no extra stabilization 😨
