Just wanted to say it's nice to see someone using good shear technique. So many grooming videos show people holding their shears incorrectly, using bad angles with their shears and poor holding techniques. Im a professional groomer and a former instructor of grooming and I particularly liked that your puppy didn't hold perfectly still yet you still got those pretty feet done safely and gently. Thank you.

Why not use a grinder for the nails?

We have a 7 month old Springer. He is our first of this breed. My husband and I are just in love with him! I am trying to learn how to groom him myself as I haven’t found a groomer that was willing to groom him in the show style. We won’t be showing him but I do want him to look as close to the show appearance as possible and to ensure his coat is healthy. We have been trimming his feet pretty regularly. I wasn’t sure what to do with his tail. The breeder told me I should be stripping him so wasn’t sure if you do that to the back end and tail tool? I am just starting to learn how to strip. I have moments that I feel like I am getting it and then others that I am doing something wrong and cutting the hair. I also have a coat king 20 but it seems like it is cutting hair so I stopped. I thought it was just supposed to be pulling out the undercoat. Am I doing something wrong?

Check out my grooming play list it has a lot more videos that can help you. I use my coat king and only do a little hand stripping when I am showing for a finished look. The coat king should only used going with the grain. So down the back down the sides. I shave under the tail and along the underside of the tail. Then I use my thinning scissors to blend the longer pieces in. There should be more info in my other videos too.
I will start a shorter series on individual pieces maybe that would help people out.
      Where do you live ?

@@emberandcolesenglishspringers Thank you so much for your response. I will take a look at your other videos. I also subscribed to your channel today. Looking for ideas and tips constantly. I have been trying to learn as much as I can about care specific to the breed. I did a lot of research before we got him but was completely off on the grooming. Not the brushing and general coat care but about how to groom him so am now trying to get it together! Videos on individual areas would be a huge help for me. I have so worried about messing up his coat and keep seeing videos or things on the internet talking about if I cut his guard hairs I can ruin the coat. I can’t seem to find clarity if that is cutting or clipping the top coat or if it means it would be ruined if he were shaved down. I will give the coat king another try and see how it goes. He is getting so wavy on his back I need to thin him out and get the coat laying flat. I live in Washington state. Thank you again for your reply! I really appreciate your advice.

@@kayaking4ever341 that would be shaving him down would ruin the guard hair. We also use the thinning shears to trim length of the back coat. You should be getting a fuzzy soft under coat from the coat king. When he is shedding you should be able to get handfuls of undercoat out. Check out my black dog Cole he has a lot more hair for me to work with! I will also get on to the smaller grooming videos too😊
      Thanks for subscribing too!
