You mentioned change in coat with neutering. I've never heard this. My Springer has a beautiful coat & and I don't want to ruin it. He's not been neutered so now I'm rethinking it.
Thank you for the video. Their coats are so shiny, i use a two in one shampoo and she is sliky soft, but not shiny. I do use clippers on her, does that make a difference?
I have a Brittany with a wavy harsh top coat (mostly just at her rough and top line). Should she be freshly bathed before raking, or is dirtier coat better for stripping? I also can’t find online how to properly clean and sharpen the blades but I think mine is dull!
@@georgiavidal3504 dirty of clean is fine. I have never sharpened mine but o know they do have replacement blades. If the dog is not shedding or has very little undercoat it won’t work either. Try bathing and then towelling. You put a towel on and pin it at the chest and stomach while the coat is wet. Leave it to the dog’s coat is dry and the hair should be flatter as well. Thanks for watching!
@@CRSMinistries1 usually till there is very little coming out. You can maintenance strip every week or every other week or even once a month. Just to remove any new undercoat and keep the coat smooth. It all depends on how fast your dog grows hair. Best time to stop and shedding seasons. Spring and fall you will get the most out and then kind of try to maintain it. Hope this helps 😊
@@mckeon1960 no it works really well. I always finish up with a knife but you get the bulk out with the coat king. For the regular pet person this is a great option than stripping with a knife.
Hi, I just found your channel and neither of your links work. I went to Amazon and oredered the Mars Coat King 20 blade and it came but was only 1 1/2 inches wide. Is that correct? It looks like the one you use is wider. Thanks, Chris
@@chrissymonds5507sorry about that I will have to go back and check my links. if it says 20 blade then there is only one, there is not a wider version of a 20 blade.
What beautiful dogs! Cole's coat is so shiny! How do keep his black hair such pure black and the white such pure white? Is it the shampoo you use? I have a black and white Cocker Spaniel and I would really like to have his coat shiny like Cole's. Any tip you can give me??? Thank you! - Cheers from Quebec! 🐕🐶
Thank you. I think some of Coles shine is from his food as he eats a fish based food. Also until recently Cole was not neutered and hair quality gets affected when dogs are neutered. This is also one of the benefits of the English Springer they are self cleaning, you can’t really tell how dirty they are until you bathe them or maybe smell them. I use a two in on shampoo and conditioner and I towel his coat to dry. I use this shampoo and sometime a whitening shampoo for white areas. www.amazon.ca/dp/B002GPD8BU?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzaman04af-20&creativeASIN=B002GPD8BU&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.2KC10HHWENDNY&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ons_m_asin
I would brush the dog out first so there at no knots and then use the mats coat king. It should not cut the skin, it can tug some but shouldn’t hurt them.

Yes they get fuzzier and get a thicker coat. More hair for sure.
Also depends on colour, so you will dine bits farrier than others, red english cockers go like yetis
OK, thanks!

@@ginnyboyles9308 yes sadly clipping hurts their top coats and then they won’t be as shiny.
You mentioned that you pin a towel around a certain way so that coat dries flat, how exactly do you do that.
Here is a video where I show how to put a towel on. It’s near the end of the video. ruclips.net/video/LeIrHAnPmHM/видео.htmlsi=ae5RheALDTcOzB5i
Is this size good for a show giant schnauzer ? Is the original or blunt version recommended? Thanks.

How do you know when you're done stripping? Can you take too much off? Or do you just go till very little undercoat is coming out? Thanks

Surely coat King is cutting the cost with the blades, while stepping with a knife is pulling from the roots, taking it the guard hair?

@@emberandcolesenglishspringers Thank you so much for the info! I really appreciate it!
Does it hurt their skin. I bought a mars 10 blade and it seems kind of sharp. Can you accidentally cut them?

would you use a Mars Coat King on a long rough Border Collie? How many blades are you using? Thanks for the demo! Such great dogs!!
Yes I would and it’s a 20blade 😊
It's funny that you comment because I have a springer spaniel border collie mix ❤ they are absolutely beautiful dogs the two mixed together !
What number are you using?
