Regarding your fitment issue - you can make the boot fit tighter under the vamp without making the toebox tighter by adding layers under the heel only. You can get heel-only insoles like Dr Schools, or you can do what I do and make my own insoles. It's easy and will work far superior to any factory insole. You just go to the craft store and get some thin leather, some sheets of quality felt, and some adhesive spray. Cut the leather into the shape of your insole (this will be what your foot touches.) Then underneath that, you layer the felt in staggered layers - the first layer covers the entire bottom. The second layer goes from heel to balls of feet. The third layer covers only the heel area. The forth layer covers 3/4 of the heel. The fifth layer 1/2 of the heel. And the sixth layer covers 1/3 of the heel. This creates a thick insole at the heel which tapers to thin at the toes. You can adjust the position and thickness of the layers to what feels good to you. And you can make the boot tighter by adding layers of felt, or looser by removing layers of felt. The more you raise the heel of your insole, the tighter it will be over the bridge of your foot. The felt will crush to it's final thickness after wearing for a couple days, so you might find you will have to add a layer or two before it's dialed in perfect. I buy boots that fit loose because I know I will be dialing in the fit with my custom insoles.
I’ve worn Chisos for over a year now , owning #2s, and #6s. They are hands down the best fit and most comfortable boot I’ve ever owned !! I’m a chisos fanboy for Life !! ❤🔥💪🏻
I love all your videos, I bought 2 pairs of Chisos #2 a couple years ago (brown and black), the best boots I've ever bought, well made, look great, so comfortable right from the start, worth every penny. Greetings from Winnipeg, Canada from a guy who LOVES Texas.
Gotta love chisos boots they're amazing! I got the number ones in magic black best boot I've ever owned, but I've been eying this pair. I definitely want to rock the number five rough out with a pair of white wrangler jeans! Great video, btw and awesome content, man!
Awesome interview buddy. Chisos roughout will probably be my next boot purchase. Bring more interviews if possible, its refreshing to get an inside look at the industry. I've worn cowboy boots my whole life and half a collection of 56 pair. 🤠😎👍
Great review, love my Chisos… have the same ones and they do just keep looking better the more you wear them. Also have the No 2’s and they are great too.
Great built boot. Top quality and I love the pair of number #2 I purchased. Now the other side of the coin. Unfortunately Chisos is a D Boot Builder. The only boot they make in a EE is the #2. They have a limited selection of styles. I wish Chisos the very best and hope they continue to grow.
That’s a good looking pair of boots. I bought a pair of Double H square toe rough out boots a couple of years ago. Rough out was a bit more than I expected but I still liked them. Two years later they’re still like new, they’re just not comfortable. The round and snip toe have been growing on me lately. I really like these, going to look into them and add them to my Christmas list.
Man I’ve had my finger on the trigger on those for awhile. Love the snip toe, but unsure about rough out, it’s not super popular here in Central CA. If they don’t come out in brushed brown here pretty quick I’m gonna try that rough out. Lovin my #2’s though in the meantime ! Thanks for the review smack !
Highly recommend roughout leather, very durable and stylish. If you know they will fit good, snagg them. They also have the #5 in black leather. Also the number 1 and 2 have roughout now!
I used to be on the fence about roughout too. It’s a nice change from smooth leather and it doesn’t crease (because it’s not noticeable due to the nature of roughout) !
Those are great looking boots.. and I won a pair of Chisos in a contest earlier this year. But I thought all Chisos were roper style (and not my style), so I sold the $545 gift certificate (for $425). Lol! Oh well, guess I should have looked at the website closer. Next time!
Man such an Awsome and detailed review brother again great job. I definitely have boots that I love but that I can only choose to wear for a limited time as opposed to other boots that I can wear all day.
Thanks man! Im glad you enjoyed it. It was a lot longer so i had to cut a lot of stuff lol. Man i feel yah, i have so many boots I dont know what to do with them all
@@smackdadious yes sir same here but we’re always hooked on buying more, as long as the videos it was though you pieced it well together and if you make a mistake, you just make a really funny joke about it and that makes it just that much more enjoyable. Awesome stuff brother.
Well I gotta say, this was a well done review and video. I had to watch it 3 times due to interruptions, but I love it when a pair of boots gets the hose 🤣. I love the looks of this boot, but I would have to try a pair on before deciding to buy. Dang great looking boot!
Thank you man. Haha i do that on some videos too lol. Yes, i am a firm believer that you need to try a pair of boots before buying or atleast have a no headache free return system
Thank you, i definitely tried to make this a bit more fun than previous videos. If you got the cash, do it! Let me know if you decide to pick one up which one you ended up with!
I also have the issue with toe space and boots. You should try some Munson last boots. It’s just an anatomical shaped boot with wider toes and narrow heel, designed in the war by a doctor to fit as many soldier as possible. There’s a lot of brands that make this style, White’s or red wing are good ones. Unfortunately I have yet to find a cowboy boot brand that makes boots like that
try ranch road boots i have the same similar proportions wide toes and narrow heal frye boots fit perfectly , vintage nocona a good choice found some boots by going up a full size in b width fits
Nice collection of boots for sure. the Chisos i favor alot . do you go for "just right" or "100% comfortable" ? have you worn them with thin nylon dress socks ? if you haven't then you should, you'll see a huge different compare to darn tough or regular socks .
I have a question about their inventory. It seems like their boots have been out of stock for AGES whenever I check and has been for months. Will that be changing soon?
Great video. Thanks for explaining rough out leathers. Seems like something I'd like since they're tough and don't need care quite like suade does. I like your videos. I've definitely enjoyed your personality and learned a lot about boots from you. Can you tell me about the hat you are wearing in most of the video?
@@smackdadious nice man I'm looking in to getting my first custom fit and shaped hat. Not really any good place local in Pennsylvania so think I'm going to try buying from The Cow Lot in Colorado. Off the rack hats are hard for me to get to fit my long oval head shape.
Its still weird. I took out the insole and feel like i should have sized down half a size. I might try their largest womens boot to see if that would fit better for me
Enjoyed the review, and love my No. 2’s. I had trouble breaking in the left one because of my foot, went to the shop one day and talked to Will about it, he gave me some different insoles to try and fixed! He is a good dude, making damn fine boots. Dig the hat in this video too, and the snake band. What is it?
Glad you enjoyed it man! The hat is a rodeo king 10x fur felt hat. The snakeskin hatband was given to me as a gift. They say its rattlesnake but it might be python 🤷♂️
Man im not sure. If the no2 fits perfectly i would think their snip toe would fit the same. I believe they offer free returns and exchanges so you'll be safe to try the same size at first on carpet. If its too tight send it back in and get the half size bigger
I wore a pair of Lucchese Classics Ropers for years, but got my first pair of Chisos in early 2020. I hardly wear my Ropers anymore. Because I have four pairs of Chisos. 😂
Thank you for a great review!!!!!! Regarding size, those of you who own the no:5. Did you size up half size from normal boot size or did you go with normal size? I have a pair of Tecovas Cartwrights which was my first pair of Cowboy boots and i went with size 9D. looking back to this i should have got them in 8,5D, the 9D is to big... what are your recomendations for the chisos no5 in size based on this info? Thanks in advance!
I agree with that 100 percent! 8.5 D is the way to go from what I hear, Thank you to Chisos for giving you a great answer in an awesome response time! Both boots are pretty much true to size. If the Tecovas were too big in a 9D, then the Chisos will be big in a 9D. I have a pair of 10D Tecovas and 10D Chisos. Thanks to the removable insole in the Chisos, I was able to get the boots to fit better than any Tecovas I own!
I like the look of that boot but not as traditional as let’s say hondo..I have had lots of boots and those removable insoles never last long enough and replacing them always changes the fit.
Very nice high quality boot, but I can't stand snip toe boots. Absolutely hate snip toes! If they did rough out with a J toe, I'd be all over it. Guess I'll just have to buy Tecovas because they have what I want.
