For anyone watching and wondering, Skar rp 2000.1d along with the skar rp 150.4ab both differential inputs.. thankyou so much for the informitive video... just saved my install from the wrong rca!
I have a planet audio anarchy 5000 amp and my amp kit which is skar audio came with a pair of twisted rcas which I’m using rn. I just tested my amp inputs and it tested 225 ohms 🤦♂️ I’m using the wrong rcas 😅
Thanks for teaching an old dog something new!!! I had some twisted pair RCAs on my Amazon shopping list, used the tips provided in the video and realized I need shielded cable! I appreciate you for sharing good knowledge and tips that make a difference in our builds! Thanks Craig!!
Just finished building my system and realise I need to pull some rcs out and replace them. Great video... I knew my instincts were right. I should have never bought the stupid rca cable from stereo shop and stuck with my original OG monster cable rca's
Thanks, I just verified the ones I put in my demo truck are the shielded type, not the twisted pair king. Whew, thought I was going to have some extra work on my hands...
Has anyone asked why don't amp manufacturers state clearly in the OM if either one is required? Do manufacturers genuinely expect everybody to purchase a multimeter to find this out.. I seriously don't understand why manufacturers can't be transparent about it. Fortunately for me and others alike, we have an inquisitive mind so we spend time reading up on these.
This is a dumb question and one I find myself often asking but for this test, Which of the ohms settings should my multi meter be testing on? it ranges from 2M, 200k, 20k, 2k, and 200?
I have a NA540.6 NAUTIC AMPLIFIER and confused about the head unit to amp RCA, esp around the Sub. from what i can tell is a mono with a Y splitter to run the sub with 4 speakers - i have run 3 x pair of RCA cables - (4 RCA for speakers) and i assume i use 1 RCA of the 3rd pair as the sub connector with a Y - but I am not quite sure
I pulled my amp down and tried this test and I’m not getting any reading at all, like nothing happens. What happens when you’re not getting a reading? Because to my understanding, I’m not getting a reading because the rca is not grounded to the board so if that’s the case, what cable should be used at this point? Just trying to understand this fully.
I did the ‘Multimeter’ test, and got zero reading. Tried it on (other) things, and it gave me reading, so unit works. Any thoughts on why I’m getting no reading ? Lowest ohm setting on multi is 200. Still, it should read SOMETHING ….
@@OldSchoolCarAudio I’ve watched your vid, and Tony’s a couple of times. I would Swear that there are contradictions. Doesn’t Tony suggest that the most Common is Single-ended, while your colleague suggested the most Common is Differential input ? Did I hear incorrectly ?

Craig, Dude, great video! I just learned something new after 25 years. Now I have to rewire the car though (Geez) Anyway, keepem coming!!
Like Jay said... if it's not making noise then it'll be ok. Thank you for the kind words, very grateful. 👐
No noise, just OCD. lol!
Every time I watch one of your videos it inspires me to do a build in my Nissan Cube!!! Keep up the great videos!!!
Mate awesome encouragement! Grateful... thank you. 👐
Awesomeness! Do we have to make our own RCA's for the old school amps or are these types still available today?
Shielded RCAs are readily available mostly from home audio retailers... but we've been making our own.
Thanks, I just verified the ones I put in my demo truck are the shielded type, not the twisted pair king. Whew, thought I was going to have some extra work on my hands...
Loving the videos from accross the pond keep up the great work and great info thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
Important to know but wasn't covered, what is the capacitance rating?
Please tell me so I can buy bulk!
Jay's the man!! Great video Craig 👍🏻
Almost bought a twisted cable fpr my old school phoenix gold amp. Thanks for the share..
Glad you got some value! Cheers

Can I hook up speakers to my car radio using the rca Jack's. The red and white ones in the back of my head unit?

I have a question I just tested my inputs on my amp and it read .225 ohms does that mean I need shielded rcas? Thanks 🙏
I got everythng right except for the headunit. My RCA is DI. My amp is DI. My headunit has to be DI too?
What would a fosgate p1000x1bd require? I just ordered a pair of nvx x series cables.. did I make the right choice?
Car Audio FTW!
Good info!
I gave a like for the hot Australian woman at the end.
I wounder if this was my problem in my old car this hole damn time thinking braided was the best to go
and if you want to daisy chaine 4 amps, but 1 of the 4 amps has balanced differential inputs. what rca cabel do you need so all 4 amps work properly?
Can be used the component cable as a RCA audio cable? If not why?
Hello . What’s happens if you flip the rca cables at the amp ? So put the red in white and white in red?
What happens if you use the wrong cable on the wrong amp? I have both on my boat. Was trying to prevent noise so I bought the old shielded cable.
Trial and error but it won't damage anything
Another great vid.

Not sure why without physically being there and looking at the amp.

Nice hes got a signed Rebulution poster
On my hertz hdp4 ch A reads 138ohms and chB reads 178 ohms so i go coax”single end”?
Still confuse
