While I didn't start my blog until after retirement you are very correct in saying doing a blog having a business mindset is best practice.
Honestly, I just want to thank you for helping me to not jump ship. Also, it blows my mind that people got upset about the lazy comment. I totally found hope actually in that episode. I know it's not as easy and I have to work harder but I am ok with that!
How motivating or helpful a piece of content is often has as much or more to do with the viewer than the content itself.

I know my blog is for a very specific audience and I do not have much experience other than my own and helping friends, family, and a few women from church through this journey. Well, I have helped a few other women who have reached out to me on social media. This is one of the reasons why I felt your message to be helpful since I am only starting (after a few years of terrible health issues).
Since I do not have much money to invest in my blog at the moment I am glad to see as long as I am willing to put in the work (get on podcasts, start a podcast, youtube, social media, and write content...) blogging can still be a source for me to get "my message out."
I am curious about one thing. When we have a personal story that fits or is relates to the topic we are writing about I know we should be writing this but what if our situation is "unique" within this? Should we also acknowledge that in our EEAT?
I serve the Divorced woman in a specific Christian denomination helping her to heal her heart, renew her mind, and help her with her Identity (which often takes a massive hit). That sort of thing. I was married two months (September-November 2018) and I had to ask my husband to leave. He was not cruel to me or anything like that but there were a few red flags especially since I am in a wheelchair. Should I, when I write, share my own experience even if it's unique like that?
I think it’s good to share your experiences that are relevant to each post. I think it boils credibility and trust even if your situation wasn’t exactly the same as other people’s.
Even if your situation wasn’t as traumatic as some, every persons situation will be different and you probably had to deal with many similar effects as a result of your marriage and divorce.

As a former project 24 member, I am wondering if the advice and training has been updated pertaining to changes introduced in Google’s HCU update. Your membership helped me build and grow a site from nothing, no traffic, to more than 55,000 users per month. It earns hefty revenue - in fact, more than five times the target amount you set as a goal every single month. But HCU is very particular even when following your course and Google guidelines to the letter. How do you recommend those hit with HCU?

Thanks for the useful video Ricky. Regarding the Google business listing, does it have to be the name of the company behind the website or actually the website's name? Because I'm sure most of us have a company and two or more niche websites and the domain names / the name of the websites have nothing to do with the business name.
I’m doing it now for my site using a DBA (or assumed business name) where the company is still Income School. I’ll let you know how that goes. It’s currently under review.
Isn't Flipboard more tailored towards blog readers? When I - shortly - used it yeeeaars ago, it was basically a tool to stay up to date with different blogs you follow, with a few "you might also like" articles sprinkled on top. Could anyone explain how this format is supposed to help bloggers?
A great book on adding stories to your copy is “The Persuasion Story Code” by David Gardinkel.

Eric Lancheres did a good job analyzing recent traffic drops. It seems to be more about time on site. If people search for short keywords and quickly find the answer on your site and immediately leave Google are not too happy with that anymore. You're competing with Reddit and Forbes where people spend lots of time. The trick now, Eric says, is to target NEW keywords that don't exist yet.
I think that's good advice.
Thanks Ricky for yor insights You have convinced me that my website is my personal piece of realestate that has longevity. I love how you stressed that we are not just bloggers but business owners, sometimes it is easy to forget that.
One man band blogging is basically dead since last few Google updates. I have many sites and most have lost 75% of income from them. And some sites are even 4-5 years old.
Well one man running several blogs that have no other business purpose is probably dead. I agree.
