Rare candy would have to only be used for none EX but again that would just make gardevoir stronger so it going to be hard for them to create new cards to help ones that need it without breaking already broken cards
The second main set is going to be gen 2 for sure. The game seems to want to not revolve around trainers too much which means prioritizing pokemon. I bet this miniset will prioritize trainers around either team rocket or the elite 4 imo.
Master ball was turned into great back I also heard deck searching will always be random but I’d like to see great back get a random Pokémon from top 3 cards of the decks so porygon or Pokédex have value

I've seen a lot of interesting theory, but that has to be one of the most interesting, nostalgia is indeed a big selling factor. That said, I hope they don't stick too much to history, so they are still able to be their own thing. Only time will tell. EDIT: I'm mainly addressing the point that the mini-set could be based on Team Rocket.
Yeah sticking to the history might put them a bit in the box, but also at least we'd have an idea what to expect. I don't think many people will be upset if we see a bunch of Team Rocket Pokemon in the mini-set, but we'll just have to wait and see!
Nice theory, rocket theme definitely possible for the mini set. Could also be additional supporter cards, like the trainers you mentioned or even stadiums or other new alternative gym leader supporters. But I think the big expansion set in January is going to Johto mons and the Neo sets. Given we already have gym leader supporters and pokemon that seem inspired by gym leader pokemon(like surge's raichu/magneton and blaines Arcanine) I think sets through Gym Challenge is baked in already plus maybe some additions with the mini set.
Very true, we already have seen them slightly touch on the Gym Leaders from the gym sets and Neo sets/Johnto makes a ton of sense for January. I wonder if that would be moving too fast though?

I don't think they are going with a Gen I TCG reimagination. Mini set could be Team Rocket, but all indicates a Johto set. There are no Gen II Pokémon in the game. There are no Dark or Metal EX cards or support for those types (Except Koga, which is very niche). I think Johto is coming this mini set or in January for sure
There's a few quotes from them where they roughly said this was their chance to reimagine the game so I could see them doing Rocket then Gym Leader Pokemon and saving Johnto for March-April. If I was a betting man I'd say Johnto is January big 200 card set though.

I see them skipping gym leaders cards besides iconic characters like the elite 4, red/blue, jessie/james, etc which will work similarly to the ones we have now.
Yeah that's something you can't ignore, they could by-pass the whole "Blaines Arcanine" etc. just be saying hey we did that with the supporters. This could open the door for Johnto in January and still keep Team Rocket in the mini-set

Personally, I like the current slower/predictable speed of the game, and want the devs to be VERY careful of cards that skip evolutions or let you mass draw cards from your deck. I personally think that kind of gameplay should stay in the normal TCG.
I really agree with you on this, let the paper TCG/live be it's own thing but they have a really good opportunity to nurture and create a game that will last just as long here.

What’s really interesting is the TCG did have sets with little or no trainer cards in the First Expansion. I’m not sure they’d do that considering we have supporters and at that time the TCG didn’t, but I wouldn’t rule it out.
It's a spicy idea if they do it. There's even a 3rd Pokemon TCG set coming out with the Pokemon Rocket theme in 2025 and it's the first Team Rocket theme set in 20 years!

@ I was just thinking about the new magnemite! Need it for my Raichu/ Lt Surge batteries. Yesterday I got over 15 energy on Raichu in a single turn!!! It’s so satisfying having two magnetons just accumulating on the bench. Set for the rest of the game. I hope that Dark Raichu from Rocket becomes a card, but I wonder if Lt Surge would even work with it because of the ‘Dark’ subtype. It would be hilarious if ‘Lt Surge’s Raichu’ for example didn’t work with Lt Surge because the card specifically states ‘Raichu’ and doesn’t include ‘Lt Surge’ in its wording LMFAO. I wonder if the magnemite promo is a hint to A1a… we can only hope. How cool would it be if Promo 008 was Dark Charizard from Team Rocket, simultaneously celebrating the pack art Pokemon and the entirety of the A1 + A1a set.

I think that's your definition of power creep right? Power creep is cards either directly being compared and the newer version being stronger or the natural trend of a card game where stronger win conditions/effects/stats are released compared to others in the game. So Master Ball or Great Ball would be a power creep of Poke Ball in some cases and in others not so much?
@@NothingButBangersYT depends on the effect, and if it "creeps" onto another card space. If you run both, its not really creeping. Thats why i say it has to replace the card to fully be power crept, if they just add greatball and i run both pokeball and greatball in all decks, it didnt really end up powercreeping it. Mostly if people stop running pokeball for greatball
