  • One question that I get asked often is “Why are you so political?” In fact, I think that confusion over politics is one of the greatest challenges to the church today and is causing massive division. This episode is the simplest explanation possible for why we cannot escape politics. Secondly, I discuss how secular social justice has twisted true justice, turning it on its head. Many Christians have fallen for this and have fought for secular social justice. And even though the results of their policies have caused much pain for the very communities that they aimed to help, these Christians never apologize; they never repent; and they never change course.

    John, you are a breath of fresh air. When so many in the Christian music industry have compromised their morals and interpret Scriptures to their benefit, you stand as a beacon of truth. I have loved your music but took a particular interest in you after your take on the whole Joshua Harris situation. It's people like you and The God Culture that Christians need to be paying attention to. Thank you for your authenticity and stand on the truth of Scripture.

    Liberal Christianity has its version of Christian Nationalism as depicted in that clip when they show scenes of the civil rights movement. Who did that? Was that not organized by the churches? This is the heart of the CN debate, will God's command and judgements prevail in our country or will it be suppressed. Does Christian morality bless the nation or not? Does coming up in a family, church, nation that honors God lead people to lifelong worship of Christ?

    I had to do a little research on this new film, and found some interesting things. It seems like Reiner is a big name, but also a "front". The former VP of Pureflix, which could be though of as being "wholesome" at one time, is Steve Okin. Okin is very heavily involved in this new film, and was also behind The Lincoln Project. The "Christian Left" is trying very hard to show that their "Christianity" is the normal, loving, and true Christianity by portraying Bible believing and orthodox Christians as the ones who are mislead and mistaken.

    I’m really tired of the labels. It’s a constant distraction and a rouse by the enemy to shame you for standing for your traditional and God fearing convictions/values.
    Denying Truth, being their own god, justifying and redefining sin by rejecting Biblical values. Basically it doesn’t matter what God says, only how they choose to interpret His Word. If they read at all. God hates sin… it doesn’t matter what you think. Go ahead change the rules. You can’t and won’t change God. But He loves the sinner and Thank God for that!… If your an atheist, fine. Nobody’s taking that away from you and I will fight for your freedom to think that way. But I would hope to change your mind because… (Other than God is real), if you’re right and there is no God- I have nothing to lose. I’ll have pursued being in service of people, a positive contributor to society. If you’re wrong and there is a God, well… I’d hate to see what that outcome would be. Stakes are as high as they can get…

    always great stuff, John. thank you for sharing. do you have any advice or words of encouragement for Christians who have been hurt by the church and other Christian organizations, or are in general wary of using the "Christian label" because of a handful of people ruining the reputation of Christians everywhere?
    for context, i had a string of bad experiences in various churches growing up, and it didn't help that several Christians i knew weren't much better. when i got to college, i found a few groups of those who i thought genuinely reflected Christ in their life, and they helped me grow significantly in my faith. but i still struggled with going to church, opting for more of a Bible study/home group approach. several of the people who helped strengthen my faith actually worked at the Christian college i was attending, and i wanted to help impact people positively for Christ in the same way when i graduated. come to find out, behind the scenes was way more toxic than i could have imagined, especially coming from an organization that claimed to be Christian. i tried to be different than the rest of the employees who helped feed this toxicity, hoping to be a sort of light in the dark. to a degree, i believe i did with certain people. but Titus 1:16 was weighing heavily on my heart for some time, in addition to Brennan Manning's famous quote:
    "The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today
    Is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips
    Then walk out the door and deny him by their lifestyle
    That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable"
    they brought me to my boiling point and i left. i couldn't keep supporting and playing on the same team as those who rip people off and emotionally abuse them on a regular basis with no intention of changing for the better. it's doing damage in Jesus' name. if i wasn't already a Christian before working there, i wouldn't want anything to do with Jesus if that's the sort of people His followers turn out to be. with a student body that is primarily non-Christian, i can only imagine how many hearts are being turned away from Christ because of their example. even in my college friend group, we struggle with our shared negative experiences. one of them is actually walking away from the faith right now because of his personal experience, which breaks my heart.
    i still struggle with attending and being active in the church, but with situations like these happening all the time, how can one confidently claim to be a Christian if this is what we're known for? while working at the school, i took a "you will know them by their fruit" approach, thinking those who were genuinely looking for fellow followers of Christ would find them in the midst of the rubble. if everyone around me was claiming to be like Christ but acted otherwise, i was going to be different. but even if i wasn't claiming to align with the values of those who were hurting others, i was still on their team. so on a personal level, i can try my best to continue showing Christ in whatever i do, but what does that look like on a larger scale? if i keep finding myself in churches and other Christian organizations like this, how can i obey the command to be active in the church without feeding its toxicity?
    sorry for the book of a comment. i wasn't wanting it to be long like that, but i wanted to be clear with what i see going on and what i've found in my faith walk thus far. any guidance would be greatly appreciated. also, thank you for closing out the Rock Resurrection Tour with a bang! it was so great to meet and see you all perform your hearts out in lil' ol' Kansas. keep rocking it for Christ!

    I struggle to know what it is that drives some to the left and some to the right. For instance, Ecclesiastes 10:1 states, "The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left." Is that it then? Foolish people vs. non-foolish. Say for instance yes, then what leads to foolish conclusions? Essentially I want to diagnose the left leaning mind to determine what makes them draw anti-social anti-biblical conclusions.

    If Jesus was perfect how come he killed the fig tree for not being in season?
    It was spiteful anger. Hardly perfect.
    Also, why wouldn't he miracle the tree to bear fruit instead?
    It’s obvious this is weak mythology. All made up by imperfect people.
    If it is symbolism, it still doesn't make sense. Again, jEebus is frustrated... but he's god. Right? Why doesn't he sway everyone with his charisma?
    Because the story doesn't make sense.

    • @phillipmeyer4059
      @phillipmeyer4059 7 месяцев назад +2

      Jesus was showing the apostles his power over all creation. Jesus as God has complete control over his creation and the right to destroy it if he desires because it is 100% dependent on him. Also, more importantly, it was for the symbolism of how many of the Jews, especially the majority of the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders not ready for him and were "not in season." Right after this he goes to the temple and drives out the money changers. It is directly related to the heart of the matter. It is a warning to those who are not prepared. It was kind of like the parables, he is using an example to prove a point. On the last note on why Jesus did not sway everyone with his "charisma," he did convince literally billions of people over the last two thousand years to become Christians, but he will not force it on anyone, and won't make it easy just to get followers. If Jesus just "made everyone be swayed," he would be taking away our free will to choose between right and wrong.

    • @Lombokstrait1
      @Lombokstrait1 7 месяцев назад

      @@phillipmeyer4059 Did it happen or not? Was it symbolic or did he really get angry about there being no figs? and then kill the tree?
      He can do whatever he wants. But he is supposed to be perfect. So when he succumbs to his own anger/rage, then he is giving in to his own power that tempts him. It leads to less than perfect behavior.
      It doesn't make sense. Therefore the story is garbage, and cancels itself out.
      And at the end of your statement you contradict the story. When he sways people it's him swaying people. So those people don't have free will then?
      But when he doesn't sway someone - then they have free will?
      When he uses his charms to convince someone then their free will was trashed?

    • @markm2090
      @markm2090 7 месяцев назад +2

      He did indeed kill the tree but it was not out of anger it was a teaching moment. Please understand that you must read in context. Chapters and Verses were added later. If you read the full context of that account it’s 100% clear Jesus is teaching his disciples that he Jesus was going to destroy the sacrificial and temple worship system. Jesus is using a physical death of a plant to represent this it’s good teaching not a random act of anger. Also this aside how is it sinful for God to kill a fruit plant that is not producing fruit?

    • @Lombokstrait1
      @Lombokstrait1 7 месяцев назад

      @@markm2090 lol. It doesn't make sense. He is all knowing. So why would he have to check the tree for fruit?
      It is childish to kill a thing just because you can. And killing a thing to teach a lesson is piss poor form. What about those who liked that tree? And were waiting for it to bear fruit the next season?
      Just cause you can do it doesn't mean you should.

    • @phillipmeyer4059
      @phillipmeyer4059 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@Lombokstrait1 No one is ever going to completely understand why God chooses to do what he does. Romans 11:34
      “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” That said I think there is probably a deeper underlying reason why you don't want to believe in Christ, but you are using this as an example. If this is why you won't accept Jesus, then all I can say is this is a terrible reason to not be a Christian. It's literally a plant. If you are really going to lose your faith or not believe in God over Jesus destroying a fig tree, then I think you should reconsider your life. "You are concerned about the bush, for which you did not labor and which you did not grow," Jonah 4:10.
