  • A mixture of weather in October, although better than expected!
Unable to do much fell-walking on our last trip, we tried to make up for it this time - in the fog doing Skiddaw via Little Man on the pony track, and later in the week on a stunning day doing Wainwright’s Newlands Round.
Wainwright’s recommended Newlands Round walk excludes Catbells, though we have scaled it on previous trips. Going from Little Town, up onto the ridge at Hause Gate, over Maiden Moor and High Spy before descending to Dale Head Tarn. From there it’s a climb up to Dale Head, round Hindscarth and down the heathery Scope End ridge. An excellent day out.
