- Headcanon voice cast for Helltaker.
I've had this as a WIP for like, two years now, since I first played the game. It was intended as a "super easy cast to make without much stress". For some reason, though, I'd open it up, try to find voices, get frustrated, and close it, and I just never made progress on it. I wanted to get it finished since I'm looking at some other heavier commitment ideas, so I forced myself to get it done. Some of it's a bit rushed I think, I relied on older clips I had pretty often and changed casting choices once or twice because I just got too frustrated trying to find clips for my first choice, but I'm pretty happy with it in the grand scheme of things.
Audio clips are actor references only - while some may fit more exactly than others or some dialogue may fit the character, this is purely coincidental. Check the comments for a full explanation of choices some time after upload!

I've been sitting on this for so long and sped through the process to get it done but I'm happy to just have it out there and have a new upload, ha ha. Some extra thoughts on my casting choices!
Helltaker - Needs a deep, bass-y voice that fits his burly appearance, and Seitz is good for that plus the self-serious contrast with the comedic dialogue.
Pandemonica - Leah Clark is good at playing straight-faced deadpan characters, and at playing evil "psycho" characters, so this was easy - probably the very first casting choice I set in stone.
Modeus - I opted for the official voice here because I think it's great, Lizzie is fantastic. If you want to know who I'd pick if I avoided her, Brittany Lauda probably. For some reason it took me a long time to find who voiced her in Monster Camp because of a lack of online mention but then I looked at the game and it's just. Listed in the credits. I don't know why that was so hard to confirm.
Cerberus - I think all three bodies would have the same voice actor to make things jarring, and I think she'd be a bit overly cutesy compared to others. Kayli Mills in Love Live is perfect for what I imagined. You're free to imagine three of her talking at once, I didn't want to make it sound crap in editing...
Malina - My favorite character I think, I just like her vibes. That said, Caitlin Glass was a case of me blanking on who to cast, looking through my old files, finding this clip, and thinking "yeah I like that!" Fully in-the-moment vibe check, but I'm happy about it.
Zdrara - I use Meli Grant a lot for some reason but I'm of the opinion she should be in way more, ha ha. I used this same clip for Vriska in my Homestuck video and I think they have similar energy, and she's good at sounding like she doesn't give a crap. One of my favorite casting picks, honestly.
Azazel/Loremaster - I cast for Azazel first and foremost and after a few good ideas (Bryn Apprill and Tia Ballard also in the running) I think Jill's general typecast of happy go lucky, bright eyed and nervous works really well for Azazel. Then it was a matter of finding her playing, the opposite of that, for the Loremaster - Jill should get to play villains more often, the contrast is really fun. Very happy with this pick.
Justice - I genuinely tried to beat the "always using Morgan Berry for cool ladies" allegations but couldn't find clean audio of most of my first choices and realized that the voice in my head was just, Morgan using their "big bravado" voice. I think the most important thing with Justice is that she should sound like she's actively trying to talk deeper than she naturally talks and should always sound like she's trying a little too hard to fit the "awesome" thing. Some day I'll cast a cool lady as someone else, but today's not that day.
Lucifer - I think Lucifer actually isn't as extreme a personality and is defined by her more business-like demeanor that fits the game's tone on a wider general level. Therefore I wanted to give her a strong voice to carry that demeanor. Marissa Lenti became my top pick, who is able to do a good job sounding very "business" while still carrying the subtleties that make the character appealing.
Judgement - Very loud, very boisterous, very angry - one of the harder ones to cast but I'm happy with choosing Tiana Camacho. Stone Ocean taught me they can reeeeeally put their all into this kind of intense character. I'd love to see them perform this kind of character some day.
Beelzebub - She has a lot of variety in her personality from what little we see, she kind of puts on airs but also seems to be just a little pathetic. I think Anairis is an absolute vocal chameleon and can cover a lot of range - maybe needs some vocal editing for monster form depending on the effect a production would want, but can absolutely play the boisterous and the lonely aspect of the character to great comedic value.
Subject 67 - Deep, loud, angry. Chris Guerrero is just kind of very easy for the role. I don't actually know if 67 is thought to be the same person as Helltaker so you can pretend he's also Seitz if so.

In my head canon, the spanish translator for Helltaker would be the same guy that voiced Thanos in Infinity War

(On my alt account) I’ve thought about it but don’t plan to yet just because I haven’t played most of the ones with really popular characters. Like my Kirby experience so far is mostly Return to Dreamland, Epic Yarn, Air Ride, and the Right Back At Ya! anime. Maybe some day, though.

Thousand Year Door is on my to-play list so it's got potential. I played Super Paper Mario a long time ago and got stuck with like, 2hp at a save point and was too stubborn to leave for health lol, so that's all my experience thus far.
I have no idea why, but every time I picture Lucifer’s voice in my head, I can’t help but think of her as being british/having an English accent.
I’m not even saying that in a "haha, british people" way, like legit I just can’t not imagine her with anything other than an English accent.

I think Wakfu had an official dub? At least to some extent. No idea how good it was. Do want to watch it, though.
Oh Modeus actually has a canon voice. It sounds nice.
