      FWIW, the information leading up to the stretch is as important as the stretch itself. If you're in the kind of pain I am, it's worth the extra 7:10 to fully grasp what's happening to cause it and how to stop those things from happening.
      Otherwise it's like taking Tylenol for the nail sticking out of your foot rather than pull the nail out.

    Unfortunately this made my back pain much worse. It felt good doing the reverse dog stretch but it definitely aggravated the problem for me. Walking is now a questionable effort.

    Had constant on and off back pain for 8 months now due to a gym injury. Healed a bit after doing some deadlifts a couple weeks ago, but one day I went too hard. For the past week and a half it felt like I was almost back to square one. Just did this back exercise and I can now bend forward pain free. Here's to hoping I can finally get back into the gym next week

      I found the same thing with deadlifts. A moderate amount of weight helped.

      @@alliii835 hey there. I am 95% better...it was definitely a muscle issue. My back is a lot better now. I can bend forward and backwards but still have some slight discomfort on my right side here and there. Honestly I just gave my back complete rest for 5 weeks and let my body do it's thing. I walked and did light weight exercises (but completely avoided any exercises that would trigger my back). Hope this helps. It takes time to heal from a muscle pull... i did not think for once that it would take this long to feel better but it did....patience is virtue.

    A huge thank you for your advice, the extended position push-ups did the trick. I was on day three of building my wall when my back went, and couldn't allow any time to get the wall finished. Luckily after two days, I'm back on the build. A very relieved viewer, if I'm ever passing, I will straighten that cabinet door for you ok :) Thanks again.

      I work at Amazon packing. I am in this position for 10 hours a day!! I even try to elevate my work station with empty boxes so I can have some sort of relief. I feel every year my back gets worse. Right now I am experiencing not being able to get comfortable sitting in the car, sleeping or sitting. Just cant find a comfortable position. Also using ice packs. Will be trying these exercises. Look very easy. Thanks for the helpful insight! Prayers this helps!

    This is the darnest thing I've seen all day. I tried these exercises while the video was playing. Before I felt a slight pinch in my lower back while bending, however now it's just gone. I thought this was bullshit but it really seems to work, thanks!

    dude I am only 25 and suddenly I got this pain because of sitting all day on my computer with my butt slightly forward like am sitting on my spine or something ...one thing to note while I was sleeping I felt the pain and unconsciously grabbed a pillow and slept on it like that 7:50 woke up much better

    Omg. Thank you for this! It greatly improved the pain, and I did this for just 2 days!
    I have been suffering from lower back pain caused by my prolonged sitting infront of the microscope and computer plus heavy lifting of reagents and wastes of our lab machines.

      This is just superb, I've been looking for "pain surrounding knee cap" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Jeneah Lansaiah Framework - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my buddy got great results with it.

    Dear Bob and Brad, I know this was probably loaded some time back, but I had to comment. I’ve been in so much pain with this stuff, that I was just exhausted. Been to chiropractor, the whole nine yards. I was desperate to get some relief and saw you guys. I found a pillow just the right size for my lower back for sitting on my couch. Tried the exercise every hour for two days. It’s gone. I mean it’s GONE. Love you guys and thanks so much✌️❤️

    Please do a video on core strengthening that won’t make my back and sciatica pain worse - my bottom two discs are herniated and the bottom three discs are very arthritic. I was told I need back surgery but I want to lose 20-30 pounds first and strengthen my core muscles. I did the hamstring stretch in your video the other day and it made my pain worse. Help! Thanks in advance.

    Wow, I struggled for 8 weeks with my back, even struggling to get out of my chair or the bed. I changed my seating position with back support and just now did some stretches. Ninety Percent improvement in 10 minutes - Thank you!!!!!!

    Wow! I did something dumb and felt this awful *thing* happen right at the base of my spine. I did ice and pain relievers, but it was bad. This helped so much! And especially knowing I can keep doing it all day. Thank you!

    i, going to try thins. I am a nurse and have horrible issues bending forward for more than a few seconds. was told this is common with nurse because we lean forward a lot do do dressings etc. I havent been able to make my bed properly for years. Lets put it this way i have been puttin on new sheets for the past hour as i have to stop and sit down constantly as the pain and stiffness are unbearable. I had an mri of the lower spine which is normal so no idea why the pain is so debilitating. hopefully this helps. I have bad rib pain and upper back pain on the left side for a year too- out of no where and have started stretches for that too.

    I was just diagnosed with mild lumbar osteoarthritis. What you were describing at the beginning of the video is so true for me--- bending forward and bending down movements hurt. Thank you so much for this video! I will follow your advice. I am starting physical therapy in October and, in the meantime, I am walking for 30 minutes most days of the week. I just subscribed to your channel, and am looking forward to more of your videos.

    What if you can't bend your neck without your lower back hurting. It pulls my lower back, sciatic nerve.. just by lowering my neck

    My L4/L5 is herniated.. have excursion. I’ve had this since 2009. The 1st few years were excruciating!!! Maybe I’ve lived with it so long now that I’m used to it & now some days are better than others. To where it used to be that no day was good. However, here lately.. bending forward hurts so bad, & my low back feels so very tight. Just simply washing dishes or brushing my teeth causes this tightness & pain. But also walking does. It’s as if my body kinda leans forward when I walk (I don’t know, could be my large breasts). But this pain is interfering with my job performance. Please help!!!

    As a begineer, I made a huge mistake couple of days back while deadlifting and my back is really fucked, does this exercise really help cause i am in intense pain and i cant even bend properly. Or if someone who went through gym injury please let me know how you cured it ?

    i get this recurring stiff pain along my belt line from center to right, I can usually mckenzie my way out of it but sometimes it just lasts, hurts to walk even. eventually goes away so nothing serious but man is it painful for a few weeks.

    我大概半年多前,因為硬舉時拉傷了腰部,痛了一個月,那期間完全無法彎腰。
    急性期過後,雖然沒那麼痛了,但每次只要彎腰超過一定程度(比如穿鞋、穿襪子、撿東西、刷牙...等動作),腰部接近屁股那邊就會再度劇痛,為了這個問題我看了大醫院的骨科、多家復健診所、中醫、傳統整復所...等,卻沒有任何一家能夠根治這個問題。
    這困擾了我半年多了,今天看到了這個影片,只是照著 8:32 這個動作,認真做了幾十次後,很累,我癱在床上,但卻明顯感到腰部有放鬆、舒服的感覺,我忐忑地起來,在試了一次前彎腰摸地,居然不會痛了!!!!! 我終於能夠再度彎腰了!!!!

    How many stretches per day?

      3 to 5 times a day if it continues to make it feel better. Then back off to 1 per day as needed. Brad

    7:15 to get to the actual stretches.
    Your back hurts, and you’re trying to get relief, I’m not trying to tell you why, and make you sit in pain for a few more minute.

    Went to therapy and nothing helped. Did a lot of these press ups. I can hardly roll back over after these. Whats next when this doesn’t work?

    I have pain when I come back up from being bending forward. Bending forward itself does not hurt, coming back up to posture does. Any help is appreciated.

      I found that sometimes when I do sports, after that it is gone. I think I get it alot with different reasons each time. First I would do what they said with the exercise to lie down and then lie on the floor with your elbows on the ground for a bit, or if you get further then do that. After I would do something for my ass. Like even lying down, and then seperately lifting your legs up, but keeping the knees bent so that you feel it in the glutes. do like 10 on each side and then try it again

      If it is a little better then do like a workout for your back, so that you do exactly what is hurting: bend down so far that your back does not curl and get up again

    Wow thank you! I always have terrible posture where it feels like my back is locked up making me hunch over. Doing the press up and belt stretches I like instantly feel a lot better and it's easier to stand up straight. Thanks dudes. Lol, I like how Brad says Bobbbb.

    I just started going to physical therapist and she wants me to sit slouched in the chair and to bend at my waist. It all seems so wrong to me. But I am incredibly stiff but have been maintaining very good posture which she says is what caused my stiffness. I'm so confused :,,,(

      I started doing this sitting and it stops my back pain, I though i was in good posture before but actually i was over doing it and causing over extension in my back and causes me anterior pelvis tilt over years of doing this.. I now do exercise and stretches for anterior p.t... Google about anterior pelvis tilt maybe you have it,, when you get back pain sitting squeeze your ass hard it turns you're pelvis and pain should stop.

    About 2 months ago, my young neighbor came by and she had a jump rope. I used to jump rope several years ago when I was in shape and not 40lbs. overweight! I was showing her some moves like criss-cross, and double jumps. She was surprised at how good I was. But then, I tried to do another double jump and for some reason, it pulled my back muscles on both sides. I thought I was going to pass out and not be able to walk! It was that bad. I think it knocked the wind out of me. I keep reinjuring it just from trying to sleep or from getting up from sleeping. The other day, I slipped and fell on a muddy path! Now, it is like I am starting from scratch! Thank you for this video!

    But the car seat is about the only seat I can be pain-free in! It kind of feels like I’m opening up the space in my spine. But if I sit upright on a hard chair, it feels like I’m slamming my weight down onto it.

    Ive told my mom about this channel multiple times. Ive been saved many times by Bob & Brad. Today, she had lower back pain. I diagnosed her, all the symptoms matched.     Guys I tried putting very small pillow under mu lumbar while lying down and it really reduces my pain. Same motion but easy to stay longer time

    Please help me . When i reach for something on the ground it has minimal pain , but when i go back up it hurts so much more . I once got a pinched nerve in my lower back (i think) then somehow i suddenly felt a pop then i can walk normally. But now i have this pain. Pls tell me what to do cus i dont have much money to go to a doctor

    Is this one okay to do if you don’t have sciatica? But you do have pain on sitting and bending forward?

    I'm so tired of hearing that this work is based on " the Mckenzie method". Mckenzie in fact tried exercises and yoga poses that already existed then called them his own.

    To scatter brained, holly my brain hurt trying to listen to you both . But it worked before I hit pause to comment. My head hurt so much I forgot about my back pain . But only until I hit pause, so I get some relief bending forward my back pain is worse when I try to straighten my back, not so much when I bend. I know without seeing me you would never be able to guess what's going on with my back. But what's your best bet and what exercise would you think might help relieve the pain. Also little background. I've been in 5 or 6 Mva + a motorcycle accident where I got lucky and walked away with just knee pain . And another accident where I got pinned between a 1 ton truck and a mini van , and haven't worked in a year, but xray and MRI show no signs of damage, other then mild degenerative arthritis and something else can't recall what they called it but also said it was mild.

    This is the darnest thing I've seen all day. I tried these exercises while the video was playing. Before I felt a slight pinch in my lower back while bending, however now it's just gone. I thought this was bullshit but it really seems to work, thanks!

    I cannot thank you enough, I used to be worried about this matter for so long, I could not sit on the car seat for more than 20 minutes, cleaning my room was a challenge for me along to many activities. I also want to point out that I sometimes have this after waking up from bed, which I figure out afterwards that baby sleep position was not the best for my case. So, I had to adapt myself to sleeping either on my stomach or straight stretched on my side. Be safe everyone.
