  • On Wednesday the 27th of June the Utrecht International Chamber Music Festival 2018 opened with a spectaculair openingsconcert. One of the surprising parts of the concert was Bartók's exciting arrangement of the 'Romanian Folk Dances', played by the virtuoso mandolinplayer Avi Avital and accordionist Martynas Levickis.

    They sound so much better on the mandolin (and accordion) than on the fiddle. Bartok had no idea. These men do a superb job. Thank you!!
