For those claiming that “he doesn’t seem depressed”. Depression is scary in that it could push someone to suicide at the drop of a hat. They could’ve been happy that morning, been with friends, eaten dinner with their family before killing themselves by the time it hit midnight. Depression does not come with an agenda and most importantly not all depressed people ‘look’ depressed. Some of the most successful people in the world are depressed. Don’t think that just because they’re smiling and have a comfortable career, everything is okay. It’s called the silent killer for a reason.

Preach. He wrote himself a letter and likely roughly planned according to this.
Tbh, if I wanted to commit suicide, even tho it would be better to have nothing going on at this time according to society, it would seem more intelligent and less expected when nobody sees it coming and I'm working like a normal person. Nobody would expect it and nobody would attempt to save me.
He's also an ACTOR, don't forget that.

It's scary to open up. What would that person think about me? What of they call me an attention seeker? How will my family react? Nobody around us accepts that they are in pain, which makes it even harder to be the first one to do so. It seems better and easier to hide your pain. We can do it for a certain period of time but how long can we endure if we don't even know the reason why we are suffering. It's not easy to seek medical help because of the stigma. All this is just incredibly sad.

I'm Japanese. He was loved by a lot of young and old people in Japan and I never literally saw people saying anything bad about him. He was very responsible and serious, so that probably drove himself into a wall. He always had the best smile everywhere, but it was just an act. It wasn't the real him. Suicide is not a good decision. But I think he didn't run away from life, he couldn't run away from his life. He was a wonderful guy. I wanted to see him on TV forever. RIP 三浦春馬😢

I think Japan needs to address the elephant in the room: the culture itself was not conducive for him to be himself, and the role he had in society added to this, making it heavier. Aside from whatever personal and past trauma and issues he may have had, The heavy schedule, not being able to have a normal personal life because of contracts, agencies fans going crazy, getting jealous, etc (agencies pay actors and celebrities what the agency deems they are worth based on their popularity, this has roots in the okyas from the times of the geisha). Added to this the culture of "ganbatte" and (no complaining because it inconveniences others and disturbs heiwa) and therefore having to be on a constant tatemae instead of honne, would drive many and has driven many to this extreme. This is not normal, however, traditional it maybe these measures were meant to be done with ppl you don't know but once you knew them being honne should be natural. Somehow, this extended to every day and small communities to the point where ppl... don't connect with one another. And have very superficial interactions. And he was very vocal about it. Japan cannot go back and keep doing things as usual... Haruma cannot die in vain, things have to change. And this is what he wished to do as well :(

      Apam Merlo
That's right😔 The Japanese culture of tatemae, polite, overwork and etc. seems strange sometimes. And Japan has always been one of the top suicide rates in the world. We sould change our strange culture but we can't. Because most Japanese people rather proud of their culture than have some doubt.
So, no matter how much we Japanese who have doubt say there is something wrong with Japanese culture, no one will listen to us seriously and think we are just oddballs. That's the scary thing about culture. The values and ideas that are rooted in the nation cannot be changed so easily. Even now that we've lost Haruma, Japanese media don't cover the suicide issue in the news, and don't care about that, they cover the news of racism in other countries.
The culture of Japan will not change until other countries say Japanese polite culture as a serious problem same as black racism, gender, etc., and covers those problem in the news around the world. 😥

I'm very proud of culture of Japan whatsoever outsiders say. Every culture has its own dark sides and people have been finding fault with them as if they didn't accept as it is. You never know why he killed himself. Factoids and speculations are filled on the Internet. Nobody knows what happened to him just yet. Side note, his decision is only his , don't have to blame it as he decided so. Could have been saved ,but that's not his intentions. The point is numerous people here accusing our own cultures not knowing the perspectives. We should stop suffocating ourselves. Be proud of yourself and environment you are in. Japan has been respected by the world , no worries. So please stop stigmatizing my country which makes things worse. Thank you

Depression is a silent killer. And for those who say Haruma hid it well, he may have already been depressed but everyone missed the signs . I did not know my kids were suicidal until the school brought it to my attention . I couldn’t understand why. I was a stay at home mom that was always available for my kids and their activities. In hindsight, they were times where it does look like attention seeking especially when anxiety kicks in. I had to learn a lot. Had to open that communication sigh my kids. My ex was a Marine and told the kids to “get over it.” We don’t agree on a lot of things. To this day I pay more attention. Sometimes my son just needs to vent. My other son is bipolar and the meds keep him on track. You do need a support system. One without judgement. There are anonymous 800 numbers you can call for help or to talk to someone.

While I appreciate the gesture and notion that those who are suffering from severe depression should reach out and talk to people about it, I've always found that these prevention hotlines aren't effective at all. I can't think of anything worse when I'm at rock bottom than talking to a stranger on a phone when said stranger has probably had 40 different calls that night and has said those same 30 questions checks they have to each call. It seems so un-personal when what you really need, well what I needed, is someone who I love and trust.

How could he die after an hour of being alive??? Where is the logic???? Do the authorities consider people idiots? It's not unusual for the suicide victims closets family members and friends to feel like the "event" was unexpected, I've read about several cases where the family members and close friends are shocked because they never saw any signs or the victim didn't say that they were depressed or anything. (Which honestly is really sad in itself.)
However most suicide victims have this kind of persona(?) when they are with others, because they want to act like everything is okay even though it's not. I myself was one of those people in the past, I didn't tell anyone how I really felt because I didn't want to be a burden to the people around me. Another reason as for why I didn't tell anyone was because I thought that I didn't have a valid reason to feel the way I did because overall I had a good life, but there was kind of like a demon(aka my brain) inside of me that made me feel like I didn't deserve to be alive.
Now this is just from my personal experience as well as my own personal opinion..... BUT it's important to not forget that there's several different reasons as for why people commit suicide.
    IMPORTANT MESSAGE!
If you or anyone near you have told you that they are depressed or that they feel suicidal GET PROFESSIONAL HELP ASAP!
There's nothing wrong with it and there's nothing to be ashamed of, sometimes you just need someone that you don't know to talk to that can also give you the help you need.

As of now, there is a report that Haruma-miura cause of death is not suicide but homicide.
According to the hospital staff, there were many wounds on the body that could not be made by one person. This fact is about to be hidden in Japan.
And there is the fact that Haruma Miura has been gaslighting from the office and entertainment people for two years.
Please, please stand up in the overseas media and report this!!

Last month a famous Indian actor 'Sushant Singh Rajput' in his 30s, a very optimistic, cheerful, adventurous, promising soul left us in a similar fashion. Shock isn't even the right word to express what we've felt after his suicide even so he didn't leave any suicide note. Now hearing about this case breaks heart even more. What's going on! Why don't we realize that suicide is never the answer 😷 May they rest in peace in their final destinations now 🙏

I don't know him , never heard of him, but my heart is in pain and very sad when I so this news through RUclips and media
What makes a young successful handsome rich loveable man to get rid of his life?
I think we will never know the answer, but maybe we can search for happiness in another places than what mentioned before. Happiness is not in money or work these things are only tools not goals.
Happiness come from inside out, when we have warm family as a state since birth, when we feed our children with love and confidence, when we stop as parents to value them with their success and let them know that we will always love them no matter how they clever or not , succeed or not, rich or not.
We as parents are responsible how they grow and face life with strength and confidence.
I wish No one experience this situation with his love one .

There are so many strange things that happened before his death and after his death.

i will definitely say that "don't judge the book by its cover" cause not all people who are happy are happy, some are happy because they want to hide their sadness but i couldn't blame them cause there's also a quote that states "we wont know your problems unless you speak it up" so it needs courage and timing to do that but then again there's a saying that goes "even if i speak it up, the problem still lies to people whether they understand your problems or not and its up to them whether they want to help me out or not" and "if i speak it up, is there anything that you can do to help me out?" but on the other side, we must understand each other cause all people have problems. as long as youre alive, problems will eventually come to you so its up to u to prepare yourself for the worst or not and to those people who committed suicide, just respect them cause its like they are trying to say "im done living on this earth, im sick and tired of of living that i want to die now so i can rest, i cant take it anymore, that im weak and coward that i cant speak it up my problems to my relatives and friends" and many more statements that people had on their minds before committing suicide. so i think that's the same situation for miura-san before committing suicide

First movie I saw him in was Koizora. I cried. I enjoyed his other dramas, but his performance in The Hours of My Life absolutely was a masterpiece of acting. I re-watched it and cried each time. We have learned Covid 19 has caused many people to become depressed because of the fear of the virus, and the horrifying death the media would broadcast daily. I do not know reason for his depression. I feel the world lost a great actor because his performance was method you felt the pain of his characters or the happiness in his smile. Actors are like Clowns they hide their true selves behind makeup and different characters. Bloody Monday drama was one of my favorite. I hope he is at peace. He left a legacy of a killer smile and characters that will remain for years.

What people don't realize about people with depression is the moment they're suddenly happy and giddy. Days before the final act, they give you things that's precious to them and/or tell you how great or wonderful it was meeting you. Usually, the saved energy is to do the final act; suicide. If you know someone dealing with depression, lend them your ears, being silent and being there for them can sometimes be the thing that could save them.

It's really hard for someone to keep going when there is a continuous voice inside you that tells you to just give up and one day you just let that voice win in order to escape from it.
But I really hope people can find courage to silence that voice with self worth, self love, love for others, love for their work, passion or anything, *anything* they could hold on to keep going, to keep living.
