I got mine a few weeks ago and love it. Finally used it for one of my comedy shows and it worked fantastic! This is a great video!
Another amazing video by the man himself! Love the style of editing and detail you bring to your reviews! inspired is an understatment! AND I HAVEN'T EVEN GOT HALF WAY THROUGH THE VIDEO!
Haha thank you so much!!
Just bought the Lark Max based purely on its spec' carried on Amazon UK.
Having just watched this concise & well-presented vid', I am now aware of the kit's AMAZING diversity, audio quality in more detail AND the back-up facilities for pro- broadcasting narration, in case an important recording goes wrong, e.g. with sound disturbance.
Looking forward to experiment very soon!
Thanks.
Hector, Far North of Scotland, UK.
Very informative but yet concise. Thanks so much
Great vid! Love the large internal record feature. Would love to see a comparison to DJI & Rode products!
The dji is great but it’s very fragile, mine stopped working after 2 weeks of filming
Nice review. I think you should include one more feature which is the ability to hear the playback on iPhone without taking off the cable from the phone.
Fantastic Review
Great video and content. This really helps my decision with vlog mics. I never heard of HL before this. I'm living in Thailand and I'm having trouble finding quality gear
This is the best review of the Lark Max if found! Amazing job 👍
Great review! I wish the noise cancellation test part was in a city environment or a windy one though. I'm afraid to use that kind of tech on mics because it'll mess up the voice part of the audio while filtering out the background noise.
Whether in the woods or a busy city don't rely on a filter to correct "noise". In this case he is only referring to ambient sounds. The correct type of microphone pickup pattern, placement and shielding the person from as much of these noises as possible is key. Asking a filter to remove wind, rustling branches, barking dogs etc. is a problem. Record the best possible audio in the most controlled way then apply filters to clear up inherent noise from your equipment if needed. You'll definitely impact the dialogue you want with the clumsy application of a filter on the device or in post production.
Great review and very helpful! Do you think it would work well to record in a bar? Would it pick up the 2 people with the mics and filter out background noise? Thanks!!!
Very nicely done, I was kind of lost before I watched your video, thanks again
Looks cool. Lots of choice in this area. This, the rode go ii and the DJI I think I'd get this if I didn't own the rode go ii. I won't trade what I've got until something has 32 bit float.
Great Video Sir! I was debating on which Hollyland Lark to buy, either the MAX or the 150 and after a couple videos and reviews you sold me on the MAX! Thank you Sir and God Bless!
Thank you for your presentation.
You're welcome!
5 Stars !!!! Placing my order as we speak !!!!!!
I loved the review, easily the most comprehensive one I have seen. I do want to know if it connects to a mixing board. Also, do you think it could work as a wireless mic for a violin (whatever setup works for voice ALWAYS works for violin as it is the closest instrument to the human voice). I have a friend who needs one but is short on cash, and I was thinking of buying the Lark M1 Solo.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
thx for review. very good. I think you answered my questions of will the USB c carry digital audio to the Lightning of an iPhone? and is there Ext Mic input. thinking of a Sen. MKE2. oh guess another question. are both TX mics mono to the Stereo input of an iPhone? or are they selectable 1 [ left] and 2 [ right ] ?
Great job 👏
Great video, thank you. If I attach it to my GO Pro Hero 10 via media mod will it simply bake the audio into the video as I don't want to do much with the audio in post?
Thanks very much....and happy new year ! 😊
great video, Thank you. I hate reading instructions, I got the same backpack.
Hi, excellent video. Can I use it with the Zoom F3 recorder to take advantage of the 32 bit floating file? Is just a 3.5 to XLR adapter enough? Thank you.
I just purchased the DJI Wireless Dual Mic system also the Shure MVL Lav Mic , is one better than the other?
Thank you for your video it is amazing, I have a question, is it fit for Dji mavic 3 pro RC ? and how quality compared with Dji Mavic 2 mic ?
Great review. My concern is the inbuilt battery; what next when it eventually dies after 2 or more years of use?
Can you use both recording modes? On the transmitter itself and on camera?
does it have gain control? My rode tends to get too hot. Looking for a new setup
Any idea if it supports plug-in power, and if so, how much? I know the Rode WGII supports up to 4v, but I can’t find the specs for the Lark Max
I have spent a few hours connecting it to macbook and iphone and cant figure out how to get the sound coming out strong and clear without clipping. Can you share the gain and mic settings you used to record this specific video or what you would recommend for something similar. If I put the mic down to my chest or so like yours, it sounds very quite, even though I am loud in speaking.
Great video, thank you. Quick question. Does the ENC Noise Cancelling work when an external mic is plugged in, e.g. Rode Lavalier GO? THANKS!
I don’t believe so. I think the proximity of the enc input and the main mic is important for that. I’m not 100% sure though so it might be worth hitting up hollyland for that question!
Have you tried it with any lavalier mics? Does i have interference issues like the DJI mic has?
what number do you set the mono output and the mic output levels?
Does noise cancelling work as well with the lav mic plugged in?
If you compare it to the DJI mics. Which is better for you?
Do you do any eq in post? It sounds very tiny
How much noise does it pickup if your moving? Say running? I'd like to mic up some action shots, scrambling up mountains, etc. Right now I use external microphones on cameras and they work but would be better if I could place a mic on the subjects doing the activity.
I can’t decide between that one or the rode wireless pro. Which one would you recommend?
How to manually adjust the gain for each separate mic during recording?
Does this come with lav mics with the wires?
Hi! What is the best? Dji mic or these?
Do you happen to know if the batteries on these mics / charging case are user replaceable?
so i have the go pro hero 10 with Hollyland Lark M1 on the stock video audio it only records the the left side audio not the right side audio but if i turn on go pro raw audio track it records evenly L and R audio how would i fix that? that was my only question other than that enjoyed the video.
The noise cancellation sold me!!! Take my 💵
Can I use these mics and connect the receiver to a speaker for live streaming?
So the one problem I have found is the clips on the receiver will work great if you’re using it on the Coach you of a camera. But when I try and use it on a gimbal or something those clips don’t work on any of the accessory cold shoe mounts that I have as they’re too wide, and the receiver simply falls off. Have you experienced this and if so, do you have a workaround? Thanks.
Cool! Thank you..
You bet!
Can you use this on the
DJI MINI 4 pro ?? TIA
hello sir , i would like to see the comparison of mic ( sound quality) if used in iphone vs android vs DSLR.......because the connectivity is different like with type c , lightning and aux.
Question: I watched the manufacturer's video and it was said that the receiver stops recording after 30 minutes. I need 1 hr. of continuous recording. there wasn't much explanation of this in the Hollyland video. Would you happen to know about this? Great video!
I have an H4N, if I used 3.5 mm to xlr adapter, do you think audio would suffer? I'd love to use this on a shoot where I'm recording 4 or more different audio tracks/ lavs since these are the same price as one sennheiser lav
Do you know how to set ip up with the rodecaster duo?
can I use line in from mixer and connects to the transmitter?
Is it a good mic for DJI Osmo Action 3. My plan is to use it as my mic for my acoustic covers
If recording outdoors via a smartphone, which gain levels would u set the lark max at?
Hi! I'm a wedding DJ considering this for ceremonies. Have you ever had problems with dropouts when being close but around lots of cell phones? Basically worried about that & someone walking too far away and the receiver being unsynced from the mic. thank you!
Noise cancellation is a nice touch however the DJI phone connection is much better imo for anyone wanting to hold the phone in their hand.
Do the transmitters record at 48khz 24bit WAV ?
A couple questions… How do you offload audio? And, can you monitor audio while recording?
I’m excited for the new Diety wireless mic system because it’ll have timecode built in. But these look really nice.
You plug the transmitter into a computer via usb c and it pops up like an external drive. There is a headphone out on the receiver so you can monitor.
@@dunnadidit A headphone monitor is great (not the only unit to have one) but that's not the same as monitoring signal level. Other units allow you to swap out cards so that you can keep working while someone take the card and loads it onto the computer. This seems like a negative to me. If each microphone/recorder has internal recording how do you load those files in your computer and continue using the microphones?
Can I monitor the audio using headphones while I’m filming? I just want to be able to know whether it’s turning out ok in the moment.
I'm a Dj. I'm curious if these would be good for me as a DJ. I'm concerned about feedback from the speaker. I bought the $100 version of the Hollyland mics and the feedback a lot.
Any chance you tried this in close proximity to speakers?
can we connect 2 reciever to 1 transmitter for camera hop
Does it work with the Action 3?
Do you know if the stereo output works with the lightning connection on iPhone? I believe the DJI mics merge them into a mono and wondered if these did the same
The lark max support stereo with iphone, it's a big pro.
Hi, how You export file into PC(save mode)? Beqouse I must format to nTFS, exFAT or FAT32, and never know when i record succesfully.
Q: How do you use the receiver while charging it at the same time? The manual didn't cover how to. Lawrence from LarkMax mentioned it in his video.
If this had the ability to jam and keep timecode for at least 14 hours I would sell all my wireless kits for this but sadly not, However, still seems like the best offering between Rode and DJI.
Can we increase the gain of transmitter
I have yet to figure out how to record a video on iPhone and use the lark. It never seems to have the lark audio. It still sounds like the iPhone was recording the audio.
Thanks for the video. The NR sounds terrible, otherwise looks like to be a good choice.
What if I want 6 of these running at the same time?
this thing is f amazing
You experienced any clipping with louder experiments or organic situations dude?
Come back Dunna!!! Did you actually get to 820ft? If so, what happened? Seriously, great video, D! How does this compare to the DJI? I guess in post, it can be enhanced.
Hey!!! 👋🏽 Dunna, do you have a video or know any videos on RUclips on how to pull the stereo sounds or how to edit audio with 2 person interview? Thanks 🙏🏽
The only one I think might touch on it is in this old video → ruclips.net/video/B1f09IWnpEI/видео.htmlsi=AsTq0HG2YBRsMDPH
@@dunnadidit Thanks 🙏🏽 a lot, my brother…you’re videos are all very informative and helpful in a fun crazy way 😉👍🏽🤣
Hello, thanks for review, i would like to ask you - if you attach reciever to the camera with cable, is there any way to connect wired headphones to camera/reciever for audio check during/before shooting? I am new to audio system, so i hope you will understand me :)
Yes! There is a headphone output on the receiver as well! And some cameras have a headphone output to monitor audio too.
@@dunnadidit So the reciever has one audio input and one audio output yes?
Technically, it has two audio outputs, one for the camera, and one for headphones. The input comes wirelessly from the transmitter.
@@dunnadidit Greatz thank you! 😊
Cool video
Did you do any post processing to the sound after? I was pleasantly surprised when you said your were using these mics the whole time
I did apply my typical process of eq and compression to them. So that’s not the raw sound, but I would pretty much never use the raw sound out of a lav in a practical sense. Hopefully that helps!
@@dunnadidit helps a lot. Do you have a video how you do your post processing? I have a hard time with that. I spend hours tweaking it and I'm never happy with the final result. I lose so much time on that. Btw thanks for always replying. Happy to be subbed here
I’m yet to do an audio process video. Part of the issue is that I have a background in audio engineering and music production, so I have a ton of fancy 3rd party plugins I use. When I do a tutorial, I’ll probably want to use the built in stuff. But hopefully I’ll get to it soon!
@@dunnadidit that would be an instant view for me. Thanks again for the responses!
Would I be able to operate both in Stereo mode while recording on a Samsung s24 phone
Dunna, wondering about any latency. Thanks brother. 😊
I haven’t run into any issue with it! I haven’t been looking super hard but it hasn’t messed with any projects and I’m usually pretty aware of that stuff when it happens.
@@dunnadidit Great. Thanks again!
can you use this with a lav mic? basically plugged into the transmitter?
Yup!
I have a question , can anyone help? The audio recorded on the holly land max transmitter sounds very low whenever I import the file into my MacBook Pro using logicpro. I never messed with any of the settings on the receiver or transmitter it is the factory settings still. Why is my audio not loud ?
Great breakdown as always! More wireless systems. Waiting for a 32bit float one with internal recording lol 😂 Dream big!
Ehi, I have this issue: when I connect the RX to my iPhone 15 Pro, the RX starts charging from the phone, and I don't want the phone's battery life to decrease. Do you know if it's possible to configure it without charging?
can i use this as an AUDIO SOURCE. I need an device to get the audio from the mixer and transmit it to my laptop
Thanks Dunna for this video. I currently use the Hollyland Lark 150 wireless system and I have never regretted making the purchase. But when DJI released their wireless mic, the one feature they introduced which I now see with this new Hollyland Lark Max is the internal recording on the transmitters. I would love to upgrade to the Lark Max but wanted to ask how you think it compares to the DJI wireless mic system.
Lark Max has a longer battery life, internal EQ, USB audio out from the receiver and slightly better sound (to me) I feel like that one is subjective. They both have 24bit float so it will depend which one you like more. Other than that, most features are the same, except the Lark Max is like $20-$30 less than DJI. I personally like the Lark Max more, but I would try them and return it if it doesn’t perform as well for you.
@@Christian-lu7kw thank you so much for sharing your experience. Very helpful
@@Christian-lu7kw dii wireless pro is 32 bit if that's what your referring to
Any audio drift issues when recording over 10+ min?
i really would like to know if i could add a third microphone later of the same hollylark brand. like another max or m1 to the same reciever
Unfortunately it's only got the two channels so I don't think that's possible.
What is the exact name of the cable that I need to connect it with a android phone?
This might be redundant, but if it is a 2 channel receiver I would assume then that it has a TRS stereo out, so I could make a cable adapting TRS to 2 XLR connecters allowing me to plug into 2 discrete input channels of a field mixer? Correct? Sounds pretty insane considering the price. . Thank you.
What settings did you have the gain receiver and the transmitter level on?
Like to know that as well
@@westcoastsigns9675 I watched so many videos on mics and they never say what settings they used 😭😭 which is very important if the camera they use is the same one we use as well! I tried the gain on zero and the other setting at 0 as well! With my Sony zv1 camera on volume 12, it came out very clean! No clipping, I seen people keep the volume of the cameras at 10-18 depending on how loud someone speaks when It comes to wireless mics!
How they do against the new Rode Wireless Pro ?
Is it possible Connect with iPhone 14 Pro? Please reply.
Odd that both links for this company result in security concerns from my browser! Looks like an awesome device though, excellent breakdown.
Ah shoot, that might be my link shortened, thanks for the heads up.
@@dunnadidithappy to help! Works now.
Hi Dunna, nice promo. I wonder: how many units can you use in the same room? Can you use 4 kits at the same time for a 8 person shoot?
Any advice for someone who is stupid like me when it comes to tech. I bought these to start vlogging on my android. Do I need the receiver in my pocket when in use, and do I just clip the microphone to my shirt and do they connect via Bluetooth lol help thanks
Hey I connected it to my iPhone and I can’t hear from mic
How do I connect it properly
I just can’t shake the thought, this is basically a Dji mic in another suit
Which is just a Rode Wireless Go II clone... They're all pretty similar these days.
Yeah. But with this, the shape. The charging case and light indicators. The connectors. Even the icons and interface. Is this the multiverse of wireless mics? 😄
Thank you for the detailed review. I also bought a Hollyland Lark Max. I find the volume in the internal recording very quiet. Can you change the volume in the settings?
How is this different from the DJI mic kit. Seems virtually identical
I film on an android device... When i record dies the audio from the microphone stay in the video when being played back or woulf i have to manually sync the audio to footage
