Byram gotta have family and friends that work at EA because they overrate him every version of the game. Don’t get me wrong he’s a great defensemen….but 87??
EA needs to do a rating/attribute overhaul. I’ll use Kucherov as an example: He is one of the best players in the NHL no question. He should be in the mid 90’s based on his offensive talent alone, but to get him into the mid 90’s you have to artificially bump up his defensive abilities. Kucherov is one of the weaker defensive players in the entire league, but if you lower his defensive awareness to a more accurate number his overall will tank into the mid/high 80’s. They need to make the gap between players more wide. The fact that a majority of players in the league are between 84-94 is wild. There’s very little difference between these guys. Make it so that true NHL players are dipping into the mid 70’s, so the gap between stars, good players, and low end guys is that much more apparent. Make it so some better AHL caliber guys could easily take some NHL roles since that happens frequently in the actual NHL. Plus the X-Factor system is a good idea, but they should give out more abilities to lower end guys. You don’t need to be a star/elite guy to get a few abilities. Plenty of bottom6 guys could have wheels, truculence, ice pack, faceoff specialist etc. Same goes for bottom pair Dmen.
Just out of curiosity, can these stats go up/down as you play? The latest NHL game I played on PS1 I know a lot of players went up quite a bit and some went down in their rankings/points overall. NHL2001 I think it was. I think Jagr had 98 and almoust all the time he went to 99 a season later.

Why is Sanderson the same rating as Power 1 rating lower than Byram and 2 lower than Seider I feel like he should be on par with Seider at 88 abd Stutzle the same overall as Caufield is pretty funny but Caufield is just very overrated in the game. Always fun to have a laugh at the EA ratings
Hedman being a 92 is wild. At this point he's probably a 90 at best. Same for Fox but higher, he's pribably a 92 at worst. Also think Saros is underrated...as usual.
There's no way they lowered Swayman after being a top 5 goalie during the regular season and being the best in the playoffs Hedman is way too high as well
These ratings are a fucking joke so if you are serious about franchise mode - be smart and wait for custom rosters. There are plenty of great roster makers which put in a ton of work for the community, to fix the shambles that is these ratings.
