Experimenting with Watercolor

  • This mini lesson is geared more towards the parents, and explores different watercolor techniques you can try with your kids. Suitable for younger children, with parental guidance.
    The project uses many different materials, but if you are missing one of the materials I've used in a square, you can improvise with your own household materials, and experiment! Before completing each square, you may want to ask your child what they think effect each material will have on the square. Which technique is their favorite?
    *Materials I've used, in order : Paper, watercolor, medium sized watercolor brush, sprinkling of table salt, oil pastels OR crayons, rubbing alcohol, sprinkling of ground coffee, masking tape, saran wrap or plastic wrapping, small piece of hard plastic (I used a cut up rewards card) paper towel
