A lot of people complained about Ford's IFS on the older trucks , but we've owned many Ford trucks and Broncos over the years with IFS, and we never had any problems with Ford's IFS.
Your dad was 100% right my young friend, it is the same thing my dad taught me, and I have tried to teach my children and grandchildren, sometimes they even listen
I whole-heartedly agree that paying attention to sounds and feel of vehicles and one can hear or feel when something is different. A little rough idle, uneven highway drive, shimmy, bounce, etc. All give signals something is wearing and needs attention.
Hi Blake that’s a great video you presented, yes I agree with you about not to tighten the bolt again just like you said replace bearing and shields, repacked with new grease and back on they go, with not enough grease the bearings will heat up and weaken, like your videos Blake keep them coming
Mr. Blake, I love watching and listening to your tips on repairs and advice you give. I can learn a lot from your experience on working on Diesel engines or truck repairs. I love it. Keep on keep on.
I had a wheel fly off of a Ford Ranger on a rainy January night after a bearing failure. My dad was with me. Luckily we weren’t going fast. The bearing went out and seized on the shaft. There’s still a scar in the blacktop where the lower ball joint cut a groove in the road for about 30 or so feet. Take mind to stuff like this on your vehicles folks. It’s not pretty when the shit hits the fan.
Paying attention to something other than a phone is hard to convey anymore. Good video. I always try and fill the space between the bearings with grease as well as packing them. Just seems like they last longer that way.
Double check the back of the knuckle where the stub shaft enters. My f250 needed a new stub shaft on the left side. Figured to mention while you're that deep in the job.
I did my 1992 f350 ones in a advance auto parking lot they went in a rememberable fashion the inner bearing seased to the race had to youse the hydraulic steering pressure to push the hub and rotor off I did all the bearings and inboard rotors and brake pads in that parking lot they thought I was crazy but you do what you got to but mine had a Dana 60 solid front axles
In the past iv used the old bearing in the new race as a driver Put a rag between the bearing and race than hammer away Now iv just got a driver set, you can flip the drivers over and they can drive seals Got a blue point set free with a snap on deal, thought I'd never really use it But wouldn't live without it now
Good practical video. I'll continue using my air driven grease gun- $263 is too pricey for me to buy that fancy one. I had one of those bearing packers. I found a different style that works great- can't recall the manufacturer and I'm too lazy to walk to the shop.
couple months ago I had to help a state trooper get a truck off of a farm road because the front right wheel assembly fell off: bad bearing.....Chained it to my Ram and snatched it away from the pavement.
Good evening sir, curious if the specialty nut required that 4 nipple socket to remove it. what size is that socket or do you have a part number for it .
We always used lithium grease when packing wheel bearings. I noticed you were Apparantly just using regular grease. Does it really make a difference which one?
The grease I used is a Mobil 1 synthetic moly bearing grease. I’ve never used lithium grease, but as long as it holds up and the bearing doesn’t go dry I can’t see why it would be a problem.
Thanks for visiting the channel! I’m planning a video of the trip up to the Roundup, so you might want to subscribe for that one hopefully next week. 👍
Rarely comment but if you have the time freezing the cone is definitely beneficial . I guess your freezer doesn't freeze as you say or you have never tried it.
I have a 1992 Ford F-350 with Dana 60 style if not Dana 60 in my yard with a zf5 speed and 7.3 idol I roled last year still runs and drives just needs a cab I would sell if you want the axles for you’re
I don’t think I’ve ever done a video on them, but they’re not difficult. It’s been a few years but I want to say go under the passenger side behind the front tire, I think it’s a 9/16” socket and pretty sure only 2 bolts.
@@GuyinWY .... not that. Before I pull the starter, if you take the "S" wire and main hot wire off the relay that goes to the bendix solenoid are they suppose to be grounding out? Just something strange I've never run into before..... hopefully just the solenoid.
I have some tractor rebuild stuff coming, but we don’t do any farming outside of hay and cattle so I don’t have any sort of planting or combining work that I could film.

Good tutorial brings back memories of repacking all the bearings on all the 4wheel drive trucks we had at the time ever year

Keep your videos coming, they are enjoyable. Thanks
Cool ideas always running in that head of yours. Great video. Thanks Blake!

Please post more videos you have slowed so much Miss the videos
I’m trying! Life has been so busy recently I haven’t been able to edit, but I have volumes of recorded content to work on for future videos.

On on your dismantling of the part you left out one of the main things the outer ring you got to take out in order to get that nut in the middle loose
On my old chevy 4x4 you had a needle bearing behind the brake plate not many people knew about it and skip it.

The air versions are great, especially the barrel pump systems. I just don’t usually have access to air and hate dragging the hose around.
@@GuyinWY Agreed- an air hose is a nuisance. That's life.
I'm having trouble with my mechanical skill, welding in there would be IMPOSSIBLE for me. But your videos are great THANKS
I just did a wheel bearing an my 05 chevy Colorado. It was almost $300 for parts the speed sensor had to be replaced too.
I agree with your old fashioned ideas & principals !

Good video on greasing/changing those at home versus out on the hiway Blake.

Saw you live on WY Life. I used to live in Glendo Wy. My daughter lives in Lander, Wy.

Back in 1980 I lived in Jeffrey City!! Wow what a time that was. My oldest boy was born in Lander.
Blake u need to get a Mic can't hear anything in the video
I’m working on it. I need to upgrade the camera to work with the mic system I’m looking at.
Rarely comment but if you have the time freezing the cone is definitely beneficial . I guess your freezer doesn't freeze as you say or you have never tried it.
I’ve never been able to leave them in for more than a couple of hours, I’m sure longer would be better.
Not sure why you didn't just put some duct tape on the bearing and put it back in.........🤣🤣 I need to get one of those tools for packing bearings.
Need to get you a hydraulic press set-up. Dirt cheap on amazon or horrible freight.Have one and it does come in handy.
You mean like the one behind him up against the wall?
thank you sir
Do I need to do this to all my wheels? Or just the front two ?
thanks for sharing the video

... any old vids on 7.3 starters?
I don’t think I’ve ever done a video on them, but they’re not difficult. It’s been a few years but I want to say go under the passenger side behind the front tire, I think it’s a 9/16” socket and pretty sure only 2 bolts.

Barring driver set on amazon 50 to 70 bucks...pull bushing s in races in to equipment with a through piston an a porta pump...priceless...
👍👍
Ya didn’t show the bearing nor lock washer😮
👍
How about some more farm videos? To many auto mechanics
I have some tractor rebuild stuff coming, but we don’t do any farming outside of hay and cattle so I don’t have any sort of planting or combining work that I could film.
Like to see how that Massey and allis are working for you
The Allis has been fixed and sold, the Massey is in the field loading bales. It had a little hiccup that you should get s video of soon though!
Talk and talk and doing his job but not details or what kind of tools
Of course you gotta go pick up a junk dodge with your good ole Ford
I haven’t had to recently! I used Wimpy to go get the white one last time.
Just giving you a hard time man! Keep up the good content.
Yes video are good but sound is horrible.
8N ready yet ? LOL
I’m hoping to have it coming apart this week actually. Videos may be a little longer, but work should commence soon.
@@GuyinWY Only busting your balls about it, Hope you and the dogs are doing good.
