    Halo 16 takes up less space, stone gets hotter, thermometer is more accurate, Halo for the win! Thanks Tom for the reply, you always take time for your viewers!

    I started my pizza oven “journey” with the cheap $97 wood/charcoal oven from Walmart. I tried charcoal. I tried wood. I tried pellets. Could never get it right. Either burned due to too high heat or raw because it wasn’t hot enough, and too hard to adjust mid stream. I bought the Walmart version of the Blackstone a few months back and I have enjoyed it. But, I’m trying to lose weight and haven’t had as many chances to use it as I would like. We are also putting in an outdoor kitchen, and originally I was going to put in an Ooni powered by natural gas, but when BS came out with the rotating stone, I had to have one, even though I’d have to use propane instead of natural gas. THEN, Halo shows up with this thing, for less money, better product, more even cooking, AND convertible to natural gas. So I bought one this week and it is sitting in my garage waiting for the outdoor kitchen to be ready for it. I think I may fire it up pretty soon on propane to season it and have it ready, then do the conversion. Thanks for the reviews on all these products.

    Great comparison, adding the Halo 16 to the Christmas list!

    Thanks for the side-by-side compare. I compared on-line info and went with the Halo Versa 16 myself. It had the features equal to the Blackstone plus more for a better price! I just put together a Harbor Freight Universal tool stand to set my Halo on. It was only $49 for a 32" stand.

    I'd tip my favor towards the Halo pizza, more heavily on the price. As Tom also points out, it seems to be more user friendly. Put those extra dollars towards the Vevor stainless steel table that you can use with many other portables.

    You pointed out all the reasons why i went with the Versa. I like the two burners, the lift top. the quick connect for the gas and the ease of clean up. Also $300 big issue when on SS. Now if I could only learn how to make pizza dough. Great comparison Tom.

    Have had the Halo for a month, works great. If you are thinking about a propane pizza oven, it is a good choice. Don’t know about any others. Helpful video as well.

    As for cleaning the stone on the Halo , you can always flip the stone to burn off the little bit of char.

  • @reddog907

    FYI Blackstone is $1523.00 CDN at Bestbuy and the Halo is $860 on Amazon and Halo won't offer a warranty outside of the US.

    Unless the oven has good design that the flame travels over the pizza, separate top and bottom heat source is the way to go; However, the criticism of the Halo is not hot enough to for Neapolitan.

    I see that Blackstone and all I can see is the killer mods you did to it. I think I said it in an earlier video is that Blackstone should commission you for the common sense things you put onto that guy. I really like how that Halo looks and operates. I also feel that the Halo cooked the pizza better, that blackstones flames were crawling over the sides alot. Thank you for doing the side by side!

    Why does everyone seem to cook pizzas at such a high temp? A standard NY style pizza is cooked at 550F for like 8 mins. Can these gas pizza ovens not do this?

  • @angryanimaldoc
    @angryanimaldoc 8 месяцев назад +1

    The blackstone temp probe was always on the bottom. You put the one on top fyi.
    I have both... the temp on the blackstone comes up quicker. If you are doing neopolitan the blackstone is better. The versa is better for low temp cooks. Im usually at about 550 with my style of pie, so its perfect.

    Just curious why all this talk about the thermometers? I have never used the thermometer in my OG Blackstone. The very first thing you need to buy is an IR temp gun to read the actual temp of both stones.
    Also, no need for a brush. Just turn the gas all the way up for 15 minutes after your last bake, then brush off the ash.
