Thanks Cody!! Every year my club team has “distance camp”… this Jan I’m gonna have to swim two 10,000 yd practices a day, for 4 days straight. 🫣 This vid gave me some hope… will definitely look into the portable blender lol.
For one second, I thought you'd do that in breaststroke, and I'm very happy you did not!
Cody Miller- "The hardest swim set that there is 100x100s"
101x100s - I'm about to end this man's whole career.
there is a dude on Instagram doing 80-100x 400m on a daily basis try to look it up just insane.
I’m 13 I did a 24x100m and it’s so exhausting mad respect for you for doing 100x100m
Same just had that set couple days ago and was really tired
It’s yards so not 100m but still impressive
@@youroldgamer2643 harder if you consider you have to work twice as many walls
Cody ,you are The legend!!
We had to do 30 100’s on descending interval the other day 😭
You inspired me to do a 20 x 100 set today.
Well that was a mistake 😂
I did that set once during Christmas break while I was in middle school. Same interval. The mental challenge of it is REAL. And that :53.9 at the end is unbelievable. Great set!
Dang ur fast😂
I can’t do that and I’m in middle school
Im not even close😂
@@matthewperez-kq7zc No, I used to be fast, lol. Middle school was a long time ago for me. I do remember it though, and it wasn't fun, lol.
@@purselmer5931 I do it on 1:20 in highschool, unbelieveable u doin it 1:10 in middle school nice work bro
This morning we swam our annual Christmas Eve swim . I’m 8 so I have 80x100m - at 2min interval. Success🎉!!
Goggins-level swim set! STAY HARD!!!
Love the passion. The hard work and mental strength it takes to be an olympic athlete is beyond most people's understanding
Hardest set I ever did was 30x 400m (5:00). Greatest feeling ever afterwards! Congrats Cody
I'm 50 yrs old and my friends and I do a 100x100 workout once a year just to prove that we still can! But our intervals are a little slower.... lol
That is awesome!
I am in awe. Never would I ever...
You would be surprised at what you can do! We are going to do it again in mid-January. Traditionally we always did it between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but the scheduling hasn't worked the last 2 years.@@yuldouz
We also do an open water 10k (meters) in the ocean in October. 🙂 @@yuldouz
im 46 and I get excited when I break a minute. I cant do that for more than a few.
Love all of your videos watching from London. Hope everyone has a great Christmas
I remember these sets back in high school 20 x 100 freestyle. But not no 100 x 100 yrds or 400 laps. Typical 2 hr practices are about 200 laps. Do not envy you guys/ ladies at all!! Hats off to you all!!! Mad respect. THAT WAS BRUTAL.This was no easy set!!!!👏👏👏 da_um !!!
We did this 25years ago in Bulgaria - Eastern Europe once a month. 50m LC in 1'30" interval. Also we did regulary 50x200m LCM in 3'00"... This is 10k. For 2.5hours
It's stoten week here in Utah and it's gonna be a really painful week. Favorite week of the year!! Thanks for joining us in the Christmas pain Cody.
Cody Miller is such an inspiration. He can sell whatever he wants as far as I'm concerned. He really stands for everything that's great about swimming.
Reminds me of my old Coach , that used to like giving us 10x 400 for our last set on a Saturday morning, making a 10k session. So I know your feeling of finishing a big Set.
Keep up the training Cody. The Goal is the Olympics , and I'm supporting you all the way from NEW Zealand.
I swim high school and completed the 100x100’s last year on the 1:40 and even did the last 100 fly(which hurt), but now this year I have to try it on the 1:30. Wish me luck!
That's really good though... improvement is shown in the interval drop. It's all mental, you just gotta do it
Power of a positive attitude!!
I have this set. I'll have to try it during my endurance training.
Props for completing the 100*100. In my group we always did it on 31.12 as the final set of the year and it was preety tough but allways a great accomplishment when finished.
Same!
Cody
Such a great swim for you. Your wisdom of being a swimmer for a long time made this not so bad for you. Well done.cheers
Congrats on doing this. I would love to do something myself... but here am I in my 4th week of a cold that i cannot get rid off... 😢
That was EPIC!!
Congratulations 🎉🎊🎈🍾
I did once in my swimming career a set 0f 24x400's starting on 6 minutes and finishing the last 4 on 5.00''. I still remember the filling of starvation for something sweet after this training session!
Good guy Cody giving stuff for his mates after an epic training session, love it
loved it!!
Our triathlon club annually hosts a 100x100 on Xmas eve. Done it the previous two years but worked the event so didn’t have full 3 hours. Last year I out in 2.5hrs and knocked 8500m. This was actually a straight swim (on 1:30 ish) and not individual 100’s. At least it is setup long course.
Did a 3,800 yd set this morning in 1 hr, short course yards. Fingers crossed for Sunday.
Ps: 56 years old normally openwater colder water swimming
my team does a 100 x 100 set every year! its around a 3 1/2 hour practice and i wouldnt call it hard, just very boring lol. i also am an experienced swimmer so my definition of hard is ofc different than others. but not a fun set for sure lol
Merry Christmas and happy new year💪
I did that 100x 100/2:00 Aquathlon for charity in 1978. I was 15.
We typically do this set every New Years, but we did ours on 1:20. Also going 53 at the end is insane
What state are you in?
Our Masters club does this every New Years Day but at an easier 1:45 pace. Us 70+ seniors do 100 75's, still a tough workout. Your swim was pretty impressive as I can't even swim your slowest pace for one much less decend
wow. 100x75s at 70+ is insane. Sounds like a fun tradition
I likely won't get all 100 this year. I'm still getting over a broken shoulder from a skiing crash last winter but I'll do as many as I can. It is fun and we spend 3 hours getting it done. But when healthy, I can do it.@@ericmueller8505
I'm 12 and I did a 50x50 set, and damn, that was hard. True dedication and effort, well done
I did it to celebrate the New Year once! Fun stuff 🎉
Cody Miller has got to be one of the brightest representations of the swimming community ❤
Didnt think anyone did this any more with all the reduced yardage practices. We used to average 10k yards a practice, but the 100 100s was always the after thanksgiving practice. The only practice that was more monotonous then that is when we would do a 5000m for time, never understood the point of that one other then confusing the crap out of me trying to keep count at 5am.
My master’s team does 100x100 every year on April 1st. It’s called the Fool’s Swim, and it is…not on 1:10 lol
I'm 61 and doing about 4km swimming in a bit more than an hour, 6 days a week and I feel great! Yeah I'm old and slow, but 100 x 100 is awesome!
Thanks Cody for encouraging pushing our limits!
4k in an hour or so is a pretty good pace
@@user-gl5no3lc8y I agree that for my age is not bad, my rhythm in a good day and pushing to my limit could be around 1:40 or 1:41 per 100mts on average, which is a bit more than an 1hr. An elite swimmer of my age can do it in a bit less than 1hr, and I wish I will improve it.
Well done Cody! I did a 100x100 long course meters, for charity with a big group swimmers, outdoors… did hurt towards the end, but really proud to get it done for a good cause.
damn this looks so fun I missed swimming while watching this
This was always a fun day at practice when we did the 100-100 set.
Cody I can FEEL your pain
Great work.
Our team does 100x100s every year on New Year’s Eve
I did 100 50s and it was on a descending interval is was hell but I loved the feeling of it after
Cody the best swimmer in the world)
I remember doing a similar set two years ago, my set was 80x100 on 1’30… not fun hahaha.
Nice content Cody!!!
I just did a 36x100 practice with my hs team today, it was very tough, it’s crazy how you were able to get through it👍
Great vlog!! SwimRVA (2019 TYR Pro series April) is doing New Years Eve 100’s challenge. Choose your interval groups. 4 hrs to complete. My Masters team is doing it.
Well done bro👊🔱
Me and 3 of my teammates did 100x100 the last 10 were all out sprints and it took us 2.5 hours
We do 100 x 100s as a team once a December. It’s long and hard but fun!
Is it a 25 meters pool?
My coach loved 50x100 in a lcm pool. Sounds funny for new guys on Christmas, they were excited to go home in 70 mins buuuut)))
But we knew he’s gonna add 20x200 paddles. I was a distance swimmer for a long time so it was fun for me, was used to it.
The last practice of the year was kinda varied ISL competition (since 2014 till 2021).
We did warm up: 1000m or less!, and then we had 4x50m each style (50 butterfly, back, breaststroke, free) with 7-10 mins of rest.
The main idea was to build, reach the fastest 200 medley. I always was the second or third cuz the first guy was the strongest sprinter of club and the guy I was competing the most - IM swimmer and the only option to gain the second place was to make long underwaters first three races and explode during the last 50 free.
Anyway this first guy was my bestie so we shared 2l of cola and pizza after all😊.
Your video and memories reminded me one of the sweetest moment of the season cuz it happened on New Year eve in the morning, most of regular kids, our classmates were happy to stay home or go for a walk. We were heading to the pool at 8 or 9 am and usually we were the only guests these days (31st December). It was a special feeling of pleasure. Plus we saw our “inner team” of group (8-10 persons from 18 in our group and 14-18 at all from the whole club) who was really interested of swimming and had it like a sense of life. We brought tech suits, caps, googles, somebody shaved😅. It wasn’t such a serious meet but it had special atmosphere of holiday, competition, friendships and teamwork.
We didn’t become Olympic starts but I’m glad we have such a warm memories and childhood with my bestie and we plan to make it again together since he got in a good shape and my heart condition got better
100x100 fly is the real challenge 😜
Our high school swim team does this every year on New Year’s Eve
I'm 16 and recently did 45 100's lcm for our coaches birthday age. 100 is crazy! I feel half of you :)
he is making this look easy
Our highschiol team does 100x100 every christmas break. Just did them yesterday. Foods the best part after.
Our “difficult set” is 10x200 at a very fast interval. We’ve done 40x100 and 100x50 before as well though
How are they measuring heart rate and other parameters while swimming? I didn’t see smart watches or any sort of device while so
Do it every year; it's a great way to kickstart the yardage count each year. Type two fun :)
How did they Biedermann the last one?
Had my club kids do 50x100 for Christmas practice the other day. They were hurting. Can I my imagine how you were feeling lol
just turned 14... it is a tradition at my club to do this the day before new years eve so its coming up. this will be my 2nd time, but this time we r doing it in scm so itll be a lot harder, but im super excited. mad respect for doing it on 1:10 tho
We did 100 100s every New Year's on my club team as a teen.
No joke my highschool does this for winter break practice
My team does 21 x 100 (SCY) but on 1:20 for first 7, 1:15 for second seven, and 1:10 for the last seven and I was the only freshmen to do it.
interval is craaaazy
I do this every year on New Years
i am dead after 2.5km
I’m 14 and do 100x75s every year. Our team has a week that starts the day after Christmas where all of our practices are roughly 6,000ish yards, the century practice being the last practice of the week
Quality
I'm 4
Alrightnow its time for the main set
Ive never done 100x100s , but ive been swimming 10km four timed a week for qlmost 4 months. Yes, its not the same sprinting than just staying withbthe same moderate pace, so this is AWESOME.
You are mentally really tough to stay swimming for 3 hours or more, 4 times a week!
@@richardmarx9952 thanks bro, but as everything, you build that mental toughness through training. I began swimming just 10 minutes and look now. If youre interested, watch ross edgleys videos or read his books, he is the mostbmental toughness person you will find.
I did Half of this set once at the highest (altitude) pool in North America and was absolutely crushed after....Half!!!
I do this every swim season as a fundraiser. We do it in 2 minutes each 100. This year was my last season in high school. I did it all every year surprisingly…
Operation put Cody in challenge ✅
Can someone explain me the pace written in the whiteboard? I can't understand the time of each 100meter. Thank you
I did 200x100 and it took me like 6 hours with my team. I’m 15 and had to skip part of school for it.
Our interval was 1:20 btw so it wasn’t too slow. Keep in mind this guy is hopefully a future Olympian
Mybig set is 20'x 200m on 2min.15 sec holding under 2.10
we are of course doing this on new years. Ill probably go on 1:20 or 1:15 but last one has to be fly
Muy club the 31 decenber always try to do It but we can't stand It and Make like 80-90
I’ve done it before, only once tho😂. I was it was last year when I was 17. Crazy set👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥
I will say tho, I’m not at the level to hold 1 minute the whole time😢. I had to do em on 1:10-1:15
Just did this, surprised I'm still alive 😂
Yards make it easier but still very hard
Don’t know if I can go all out for that long
my coach was going to do this set with😭
cody i finally broke a minute in the 100 free and i got 59 in prelims and the i got 58 in the finals!!! it was 2 and a half weeks ago and i was so happy
How does this set transfer to the 100 and 200 breaststroke? Open water, I understand.
Aerobic capacity
Just did this set today. Took 4 hrs
Cody did you left your light on the car on 😂
I did 50x100 scm in November, and now I'm going to be doing a 60x100 scm for the end of the year. Some of my teammates are doing 100x100 scm but they just need to get it done, not on an interval.
little chafing there in the shoulder
I did 100x100 at 11 on 2min
I just did the 100 100 yards for my first time, did it on a slow 140
This was always New Year’s Day practice in high school
100x100m long course on the 1:30 was the last workout for out winter training every year. What a brutal set.
Did this once at a swim camp in the early 90s as well. Had to do 20 of them Fly 😬😬😬 All still on 1:30, but 25m pool, so lots of turns. Good for FS, not so much for BF lol
I just did 100x100s at practice today!
I’m in high school we did this set once but we actually ran out of time and ended up doing like maybe 70 x100s. Can’t remember the interval
hey this happened at the same pool where i do diving
This is crazy - that's when you realize the level of these athletes compared to normal swimmers
