Didnt think anyone did this any more with all the reduced yardage practices. We used to average 10k yards a practice, but the 100 100s was always the after thanksgiving practice. The only practice that was more monotonous then that is when we would do a 5000m for time, never understood the point of that one other then confusing the crap out of me trying to keep count at 5am.

My coach loved 50x100 in a lcm pool. Sounds funny for new guys on Christmas, they were excited to go home in 70 mins buuuut)))
But we knew he’s gonna add 20x200 paddles. I was a distance swimmer for a long time so it was fun for me, was used to it.
The last practice of the year was kinda varied ISL competition (since 2014 till 2021).
We did warm up: 1000m or less!, and then we had 4x50m each style (50 butterfly, back, breaststroke, free) with 7-10 mins of rest.
The main idea was to build, reach the fastest 200 medley. I always was the second or third cuz the first guy was the strongest sprinter of club and the guy I was competing the most - IM swimmer and the only option to gain the second place was to make long underwaters first three races and explode during the last 50 free.
Anyway this first guy was my bestie so we shared 2l of cola and pizza after all😊.
Your video and memories reminded me one of the sweetest moment of the season cuz it happened on New Year eve in the morning, most of regular kids, our classmates were happy to stay home or go for a walk. We were heading to the pool at 8 or 9 am and usually we were the only guests these days (31st December). It was a special feeling of pleasure. Plus we saw our “inner team” of group (8-10 persons from 18 in our group and 14-18 at all from the whole club) who was really interested of swimming and had it like a sense of life. We brought tech suits, caps, googles, somebody shaved😅. It wasn’t such a serious meet but it had special atmosphere of holiday, competition, friendships and teamwork.
We didn’t become Olympic starts but I’m glad we have such a warm memories and childhood with my bestie and we plan to make it again together since he got in a good shape and my heart condition got better

I just did a 36x100 practice with my hs team today, it was very tough, it’s crazy how you were able to get through it👍

Great vlog!! SwimRVA (2019 TYR Pro series April) is doing New Years Eve 100’s challenge. Choose your interval groups. 4 hrs to complete. My Masters team is doing it.

I’m 40 years old and just did 100x100s short course meters on the 1:30! I was unable to train for a week after. My mind didn’t want to see the pool 😂

I did 50x100 scm in November, and now I'm going to be doing a 60x100 scm for the end of the year. Some of my teammates are doing 100x100 scm but they just need to get it done, not on an interval.

I remember in highschool one of the first practices back to get a gauge for how fit we were our coach had us do 50x 100s on 1:20. I was gassed. 100 on 1:10 would be insane

In my good old days, I swam this set on 1:20. It was really tough because we swam a pace of 1:08. But my most exhausting set was 30x400 on 4:50. Don't try it, it's hell and absolutely absurd.
And it was in 50 meter pool ✌🏻

100x100 is considered an easy set for us, we did on 1:15 interval but i finished all of them on between 1:06-1:09

We did this every New Year’s Day in high school. 100 X 100 on 100 seconds. It was too monotonous on 100 seconds so we went 120 seconds. Took a few hours. I hated the national set much more than this. We also swam a lot longer in club than this when we did 2 a days.
