One of the things that they didn’t also point out about expensive skin care, is that most luxury skincare products contain fragrance. Fragrance or Perfume is a known surfactant and can cause skin diseases like allergic Contact Dermatitis. So you are really doing more harm than good with brands like La Mer.
For those interested, I recommend watching Dr Dray’s channel. Ever since I started following her, I’ve become much more informed and stoped spending money on unnecessary creams, serums and masks.
@@Timothee_Chalamet_CMBYN Ummm, actually lot of young adults buy anti aging products. They are taught that it is better to *prevent* wrinkles while your skin still has elasticity than wait until it is too late. Look at the people that skin care lines like Tatcha and La Mer usually target.
My skin care consists of 1$ acne cleanser 5$ sunscreen and any 1-3$ thin moisturizer. The issue is that people don’t know how to consistently take care of their skin and would rather spin 100$ on a single application product with some foreign ingredient
My anti ageing routine 1. No artificial sugar whatsoever. 2. Sunscreen slathering 3. Sunglasses and hat everytime I go out in the sun. 4. Retinoid 5. Moisturizing well to prevent fine lines 6. Collagen supplement (originally prescribed because of a knee injury i suffered in the gym but I noticed improved hydration with its use overtime hence continue to use it. Helps the joints as well as with skin hydration. 7. I try to maintain a very clean diet with unprocessed foods. No junk food. Including more mushrooms, kimchi, sauerkraut etc.

Biggest tip I was given was to not use straws EVER. To this day I don't have lines around my lips because I stopped using them in my teenage years. Another tip is to drink water to keep the skin hydrated. Also use Vanicream Ointment plus CeraVe Moisturizer. No need for anything else.
The best anti aging advice I can give is to die young before wrinkles set in, if you aren't keen on that then sunscreen, vit c and retinol are the best products to use.
Do you need sunscreen if you spend almost all of your time indoors? I live in Canada and in the winter i barely get any sun. Maybe 20 to 30 minutes a week because i go to work before dawn and come home after sunset. Do you still need sunscreen?
Many dermatologists have said that creams/serums aren't as effective as invasive procedures. So instead of spending a fortune on these products, stick to sunscreen and creams/serums that contain the same ingredients. Stay fit, eat healthy, stay away from unhealthy things/toxic environment and think positive thoughts. Also, train yourself mentally to accept that things like ageing are just a part of life and everyone has to go through it someday.
I heard one of the best anti-aging things for your sking is applying cold water to your face everyday or putting your face in cold water for a few seconds everyday.
Underground Tech dries your skin out, doesn’t exfoliate. The best thing you can put on your skin is a semi warm cloth then aloe Vera. It’s a super drug for skin.
I got 2 samples from guerlain (imperiale)face and eye cream... face cream-$550 and eye cream-$300(on discount)... used them for a good 3weeks and... you are not missing anything!
My mom makes her own stuff from relatively cheap, bulk price serums mixed with some oils and a standard moisturizer. She looks 39 at 54 so i suppose it works, or maybe its just genetics. But yea, the best things you can do for your skin regardless of age is : use a balanced cleanser that does not strip your face completely, exfoliate (preferably chemically with bha or aha acids), moisturize a lot and stay out of the sun.
Honestly sunscreen + moisturizer + Nicacinamide(Vit B3 derivative) + retinoid(Vit A derivative) is all you need. My mom loves sisley cosmetics product 30ml hyaluronic serum that costs 350 usd. I always tell her that's useless. But sisley product's fragrances in each products are pretty damn good soothing. I mean... its her money... so what can i say.
My dad is 59 and his skin is as soft as a baby ! His skin shines and he looks no less than 40! He eats healthy food and has religiously taken care of his skin ever since he was a teenager . He swears by NIVEA ! I was sceptical about the cream , I have started using it and it is amazing . Being a teenager with ever changing hormones and skin condition , I've tried almost every other cream . Drugstore to high end ! Honestly , no cream is going to work on your skin if your diet isn't good. Furthermore , how your skin is , is ALL about genetics. If you see pimples / redness in your family , you have them too , most of the times . No expensive cream is going to change you. Also, invest in essential oils , such as vitamin E , almond oil , eucalyptus oil , Neem oil etc. Also, the best skin care advice anyone can ever get is to stop following what bloggers / celeb beauty care routine. Always patch test since everyone's skin is different. Don't buy any random thing celebs endorse. Go and consult a dermatologist instead !
I tried La Mer and hated it; doesn’t do anything and is terrible for your skin. The best anti-ageing creams I’ve used are from Vichy, especially their serums.
Sunscreen and retinoids are the only products that can legally be called "anti-aging" in the US. Sunscreen is the most important thing, and for retinoids, trasretinoic acid (or Tretinoin) is the most well studied. Both of these products are very affordable. Please don't spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on pots of water, glycerin, and antioxidants, or the fanciest serums.
The truth is that it's the whole research process which goes into formulating these products which costs the most money, not the ingredients. i.e. hiring top industry skincare/dermatologists and chemistry experts to create these products. Research for cosmetics costs millions and the companies which make cheap creams on a small scale simply can't afford that process since their reputation is not as great as these overpriced 'luxury' brands such as la mer or la prarie.
Best anti aging hacks: - Don't eat junk food - Don't sunbath without sunscreen - Don't drink beer, do drugs or smoke - Don't sleep less than 6-8h You don't even have to spend a penny, my mom is 65 and get mistaken for 40s because she doesn't do any of those
The plant that generates "magic broth" in Creme de la Mer is a kind of regular seaweed vegetable consumed by Eastern Asian people for thousands of years. This vegetable is actually very cheap and can be purchased in almost every market/supermarket.
Spf is a yess👍but expensive creams really work when you reach 35 ish....really. La prairie reye gel really works for my puffiness( the most common under eyes after 40+) n Sothys for its brightness due to slow cell turn over....highends creams do firm, brightens n leesen your pores after certain age slowly...but yes it cost money. Obagi really target your specific problem under Dr supervision❤
because old people are rich. if every company makes their creams expensive, they'll still buy it since there's no cheaper alternative and they're willing to buy into the high class image associated with the price & product anyways.
There are tons of drug stores alternative if you are on a budget. People (I am guilty as well) buy expensive ones because they give the illusion that the quality is better and therefore more effective. I don’t know how true that illusion is, but it sure makes me *feel* better. Now that’s the power of marketing.
Brain games did a nice experiment on the effect of price on perception. There are cheap and higher products I regret wasting money on. I realized how low on the ingredient list the advertised active ingredient was on some masks
I've been using No7 for a few year's now and it does work..... No wrinkles or crow's feet... Not to tune my own 📯 but I definitely don't look like I'm in the mid 50's .
Of course it’s effective, you bought a 1,800 cream or serum, you use it day and night and your moods are up. Your going to feel more confident and younger. It’s psychology stuff.
I just purchased my mom Avon Anew Reversalist. A jar only costs about $6.00 but the ingredients if you will carefully expect and research is as just at the level of these high-end skin products. The cost usually related directly to its marketing fees, logistic fees and other business fees they need to pay in order for the product to be available on market shelves.
I'm 68 and most people think I'm 40. My father didn't get grey hair until he was 85 and his skin was as smooth as a baby's bottom. He died at 90 from second hand smoke lung cancer, from my stepmother. My mother is 91 and she looks 60. Her skin is fantastic for her true age although she has arthritis and is in a wheelchair but her mind is great. So that is why I say genetics is your first line of defence for most things but definitely your skin.
As I own a similar business (affordable skincare products). My best advice is to know which type is your skin and just use an oil overnight that fits your skin needs. Avoid soap on face. That's it.
I think it's definitely a cultural thing too. We should normalize wrinkles and aging signs and teach women that they can be beautiful despite their age
sleep better, stay hydrated and eat healthy, real foods. and use sunblock! I am reaching my 30s in 1 year and I always get people thinking I am 25 at most. because I did what I just listed.
I'm 40 and has been using Olay for 20 years. And that's my picture, I will still age, but moisturising and reducing sun damage is a must. Eat well and healthy and yes that includes eating meat.
I think think the real culprit is that women are condemned not looking in the 20s for the rest of their lives. Aging will happen no matter what & I wish one day it's embraced like how it is with men
I've gotten consistent, _very good_ results from Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus serum and from Clinique Smart Custom Repair serum. I highly recommend them both. I actually haven't been able to afford them for a over a year, but when my cash flow improves, they'll be some of the first products I buy. The Laser Focus _really_ reduces fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the eyes and the Smart Custom serum really improves overall skin texture and firmness. I've been buying budget anti-aging products as I can but nothing comes anywhere close to those other 2 products.

For those interested, I recommend watching Dr Dray’s channel. Ever since I started following her, I’ve become much more informed and stoped spending money on unnecessary creams, serums and masks.
I love that you are recommending her, I was just about to do the same thing, love her so so much
Maria Cristina Dutari She’s great! 😉
@@natelyk22 Take her skincare advice, not her diet
I agree. Can be a bit hard to watch, but informative
She is a seriously disturbed anorexic. I just cannot believe people buy into her crap. I doubt she is a practicing dermatologist!
“You’re beautiful just the way you are”, said no beauty magazine, company ad or product ever.
I cringe at these products omg
"Why Anti-Aging Products Are So Expensive"
*Because people are willing to pay it.*
Retin A + Sunscreen are about 50$ for 3 months, and they are (by far) the best anti-aging products out there.
"Miracle broth"....
Hold up.
I'mma go put some miso soup on my face.
I changed my comment so the reply section looks stupid and funny af
Actually it's the stupid youth that are buying these things
Justice Warrior false, a young person buying anti aging? We already young. Dumbass lol
@@Timothee_Chalamet_CMBYN Ummm, actually lot of young adults buy anti aging products. They are taught that it is better to *prevent* wrinkles while your skin still has elasticity than wait until it is too late. Look at the people that skin care lines like Tatcha and La Mer usually target.
iris oh yeah ofc but not like teenagers and youth
@@justicewarrior9187 It's both dimwit lol
When bussiness insider throw some shade in beauty comutities..🤔
try "the ordinary" you won't have to pay crazy prices
My skin care consists of 1$ acne cleanser 5$ sunscreen and any 1-3$ thin moisturizer. The issue is that people don’t know how to consistently take care of their skin and would rather spin 100$ on a single application product with some foreign ingredient
My anti ageing routine
1. No artificial sugar whatsoever.
2. Sunscreen slathering
3. Sunglasses and hat everytime I go out in the sun.
4. Retinoid
5. Moisturizing well to prevent fine lines
“These forests are a source of concentrated energy”
What a fancy way of saying “plants photosynthesize to make energy and kelp seems kinda fancy and hard to get”
Biggest tip I was given was to not use straws EVER. To this day I don't have lines around my lips because I stopped using them in my teenage years. Another tip is to drink water to keep the skin hydrated. Also use Vanicream Ointment plus CeraVe Moisturizer. No need for anything else.
No straws….? That’s not the biggest tip of skin care at all. Where da SPF honey
Sleep, no or very low stress. Good nutrition, fresh water, happiness🙌🏽🙏🏽
WOW what a blessing it is to have melanin 🙌🏾
So basically we just need water & glycerin for moiturise skin.
Hemp oil!!
The best anti aging advice I can give is to die young before wrinkles set in, if you aren't keen on that then sunscreen, vit c and retinol are the best products to use.
A really nice sunscreen and retinol cream is like like 40$ at the very most that literally all you need
Imagine if we are all taught to celebrate aging as a natural process. We can all age gracefully without the need to live in denial or insecurity.
Thank you guys
Just sleep 8 hours every day
unknownsws how can you sleep 8 hours a day when you live in this busy modern life. Probably works for young people or jobless people
@@desertmoonlee6631 oh im just watching RUclips every day, im not busy tho
I got 2 samples from guerlain (imperiale)face and eye cream... face cream-$550 and eye cream-$300(on discount)... used them for a good 3weeks and... you are not missing anything!
They used a great word..."Devotees"
Just Blindly accept them.
So which ones do work ??
This is the sad reality of anti-aging. If we actually found a real medication to slow aging, it would cost millions in the USA.
We did and it's called botox and face-lift
We have it. It's a retinol called tretinoin but it is like $150.
Yep. This is why I stick to Cerave 🤗
Wish to have a confidence like her
My dad is 59 and his skin is as soft as a baby !
I was using expensive antiaging cremes and all it did was make my skin ashy.
Back to honey and neutrogena for perfect skin.
My mom worked for clarins and it actually works pretty great
The truth is that it's the whole research process which goes into formulating these products which costs the most money, not the ingredients. i.e. hiring top industry skincare/dermatologists and chemistry experts to create these products. Research for cosmetics costs millions and the companies which make cheap creams on a small scale simply can't afford that process since their reputation is not as great as these overpriced 'luxury' brands such as la mer or la prarie.
Best anti aging hacks:
- Don't eat junk food
- Don't sunbath without sunscreen
- Don't drink beer, do drugs or smoke
- Don't sleep less than 6-8h
You don't even have to spend a penny, my mom is 65 and get mistaken for 40s because she doesn't do any of those
Me, an intellectual: can’t harm my skin if I never see daylight
The plant that generates "magic broth" in Creme de la Mer is a kind of regular seaweed vegetable consumed by Eastern Asian people for thousands of years. This vegetable is actually very cheap and can be purchased in almost every market/supermarket.
The dermatology consultant clearly won't be getting a phone call from La Mer to consult on any future products.
I think the high price itself makes it appealing. You are also buying those bragging rights.
Brain games did a nice experiment on the effect of price on perception. There are cheap and higher products I regret wasting money on. I realized how low on the ingredient list the advertised active ingredient was on some masks
Thank you !
I`ll be waiting for " Why Hair Growth Products are So Expensive”
LTS InTuition me too
I've been using No7 for a few year's now and it does work.....
"I spread LaMer on my toast every morning"
you will be lamer when you buy La Mer.
That's it.
She's dropping wisdom at the end of the video! Sunscreen + Tretinoin!
Gotta love how the ingredients in these hundred dollar creams can be found in drugstore skincare that costs about 10 bucks 😂
This guys voice is so calming
I just love his voice. It's so notclickbate voice
Anti aging is just taking care of yourself( eating well, Exercise, decrease stress, get good sleep)
that "miracle broth" is just boiled misou soup with sea kelp sans tofu.
liquid kelp fertilizer that I water my plants with.
More natural ingredients are what make you younger and what makes them more expensive but some use chemicals that they say are rare
I think it's definitely a cultural thing too. We should normalize wrinkles and aging signs and teach women that they can be beautiful despite their age
Hello, cruelty free?
sleep better, stay hydrated and eat healthy, real foods. and use sunblock!
I am reaching my 30s in 1 year and I always get people thinking I am 25 at most. because I did what I just listed.
JÖYの貓 You also probably have good genes

who can tell the difference between a 25 year old and a 29 year old.
30 is young may be if u were 50 and look 25 now that will be impressive
Btw it is just a myth that cleopatra took baths in donkey milk. ^^
Your products are available in pakistan or not if yes than from where we purchase these in pakistan
Bottom line is to eat vitamin rich natural foods and drink plenty of water.
Creme La Mer is hands down a miracle in a jar. The results are outstanding..glowing skin, smoother skin, even tone, skin looks alive, lifted and nourished. No other cream has done that so visibly to my skin, and never have I gotten so many compliments on my skin since using Creme La Mer. Will never be without.
