Couldn't believe what I found today. Lifted the rubber mat in the passenger (UK) footwell of my 2008 RRS 3.6 TDV8 to discover a flood! Had the car 9 years and I've never come across this before. So straight on to YT and it's a known design fault! And, it may well account for some recent electrical issues. Thanks for the vid.
There is an official fix/repair kit from landrover. It comprises of new clips and a round piece of sticky tape! 😂 I purchased the kit and the instructions tell you to snap the lower plastic locating lug off and place the sticky tape over the lower hole. Shocking design eh? I also snapped the top locating lugs off on both sides and filled all holes with clear silicone before refitting trims.
What a crazy design to hold a piece of trim, making a hole and then trying to stop water ingress with a piece of sponge. I think your repair will be superb.
Mate at 14:29 secs or so, you can see the cowl under the windscreen sat with a ton of water in it? Also the sunroof drain hose breaks at the 90 bend where it passes through the inner wing, maybe check that as well? Although many of the A pillar trim does leak. Land rovers ehh.
With the amount of water where you live I am surprised you do not have webbed feet! It takes a great deal of courage to plunge into the wiring loom like you do, I wonder if the water got in there due to the accident that caused it to be beyond economic repair, have you found out why it was written off yet? Well done on the sealing, I think that is a job for copious applications of silicon sealer, Stay dry! Chris B.
i had the same problem on a 2012 my L 320 and even after using the LR fix kit it still leaked so i put a non setting sealant around all the plastic clips and lo and behold no more leaks.for now!

Good points, I didn't have a sunroof, but I've sold the car now anyway👍🏽

Nice one, it took ages for the carpet sponge to dry I lifted it slightly and wedged a block under it for airing
Time now to check the offside too?
Yeah I did the other side too 👍
Did the repair help you? Water leak problem is solved?
Yep, all dry now!👍 but took ages to dry due to the sponge , I drilled a couple of holed through carpet to let it breath, you can't notice them
