  • Writer's Reviews - When You Cram Too Much Into The Finale!
Mysterious Disappearances has been a largely faithful and positive adaptation of the manga material. However, that has all changed with the penultimate episode! This shift has thrown off the pacing, challenged the nature of the main characters, and possible saddled the final episode with too much to do. Lars gives his breakdown here and speculates what we might expect next!

Really? I just assumed they rushed/crammed things in from the source, but the fact its all anime original makes me even more mad, especially since half the episode felt like a waste of time. Sumireko literally got cucked from being the protagonist to her own show!
Pool episode felt almost like an obligatory checklist, it doesn't even work as Fan Service. Didn't have the main Big Oppai Girl in a swimsuit!!!
And everyone being a skirt flipper as a shorthand to show how they are "close" is getting on my last nerve!
Cat Girl also seemed way less intimidating then objectively how she should be, now that I've seen how its supposed to go down I'm even more mad.
I was vibing with this series despite it being disappointing in some aspects and flawed, but the last episode really dragged it down.
This is old "Anime Original Ending" flashback trauma from the olden days all over again.
I guess they don't plan on making a season 2, another soulless "read the source" advertisement.
At least it wasn't as bad as Unnamed Memory's adaptation.
I'm mad and I'm not even a big fan of the series like you, I'm honestly wondering why your not fuming.
For something more productive for discussion Sound Euphonium 3 was a great example how deviating from the source material was for the better, I can't say why without spoiling however.

As a Non Manga reader I was very much affected, I'm not stupid I can tell when something is rushed.
