This egg I think is cooler than that one thank you so much for posting this I cannot wait to try it out. Can you substitute a wood carving tool for the soldering tool?

I purchased your template and was wondering about a certain section. It looks like you are putting two layers of the top piece on each other at 2:25. Is that correct?
Is there a clear or translucent material that this technique can be applied to? The eggs from the original film have a translucent outer skin that you can see light through
You can use transparent nylon fabric instead of lycra fabric and also white foam. After you have sculpt the sections trim each section thickness to about 1cm thickness and then use led lights to light it up for the inside. That's how to achieve the translucent effects. Hope this helps.
I was hoping you can tell me what sprayable adhesive you are using in a spray gun. I didnt think adhesive could be sprayed from a spray gun. I'm building a dinosaur like legit hidden legs dinosaur for someone and the hot glue gun is working well for the scales but when I get ready to skin the dinosaur I will need a spray gun and sprayable adhesive
Hi Graig there's many types of spray able contact cement here's one example : www.constructionchemicals.co.uk/Sprayable-Contact-Adhesive.html You can also just buy regular contact cement and mix with thinner 30% and glue 70% once mixed you can spay it with any spray gun.

Quick question I noticed that the one made in the tutorial and thrown at the end seems more elongated than the shorter more rounded painted ones. How do you achieve the rounder egg using the pattern
When I first started editing videos I didn't know that my video camera had wide screen features so the videos then were recorded 4:3 and converted to 16:9 that why the different in shape. No worries sponge foam is flexible and you can get a rounder shape by gently manipulating the sculpt by hand. Sorry for the long explanation.ENJOY!!!

Yes...I do fully own Wizart Studio now as the past years it was a MESS. I keep it small and I hope to promote my sculpting methods which is cheap & easy. You don't have to buy you can sculpt your own Alien head very soon.

whats the specific adhesive you're using? contact cement? Gorilla spray?

The original Alien Eggs were made from fiberglass, translucent and easy to replicate / mold.
Maybe a silicone rubber applied to the outside?

Planning on making one soon. Is the spandex a necessity? I’m having trouble finding some similar to what you use.
You can use lycra fabric it still the same as spandex.

All foam sheets come in a standard size 4 x 6 feet and Yes! you will need 4 sides.

Yes that correct these layers will give the lip section more height just like the originals.

where do you get the correct type of foam rubber?
Foam rubber is also known as upholstery foam...you can get this
easily at Walmart or Furniture Repair & Restoration Shops. Cheers!
the medium foam recommended in this video is NOT the correct foam..its too soft to cut with an NT Cutter you want firm / blue foam
