    Good for thought :
    1.) small rotors buy two for the price of one
    2. ) scrapping has very little tax right off if you claim it … obviously your buying a new truck here , but that’s not most years. Much more tax deductible opportunities in businesses with ‘material cost , more tools needed , billing / invoicing for jobs, employees, office supplies , ect ect (fill in the blank ).
    3. Your current rotor Price isn’t too good , But I do know that handling material twice is money, time and energy. often leads to less profit than sought after. Northern Montgomery county currently at 260-280$ per ton

    I have bought tens of thousands of rotors. If you're not in a big city you probably won't have to pay but inside of the cities the competition is just too high to not buy them. Keep in mind when buying rotors you better be prepared to move hundred of rotors a day. Its all about volume.
    The super duty rotor goes into heavy melt (30 percent less per lb) because of the hub being built into it.
    Scrap yards are getting 330 a net ton at most right now on clean rotors. Most yards are only going to be getting around 260-290 depending on the location because they are sending it to a bigger yard. They are happy as can be making 40 a ton if you're bringing in 20,000 lb a month.
    Don't buy scrap unless your making 2.5 times your money going out. This doesn't apply to converters, I personally only take 15 percent on those.

    At all my shops where i have the big IBC totes I have one that is strictly rotors and drums. Generally about 3000 lbs per tote when full. Customer gets 30% of the ticket total. Been doing it that way forever. Never had any complaints. They get the stuff gone, and make some money. 10 plus years ago when scrap was really good here, there was guys coming from Chicago (250 miles one way) and hitting up every yard and shop and paying $2/rotor. Then hauling them back . Must have been really lucrative for all that hassle.

      @SuperScooby70 that seems like a very fair deal.. Especially since garages get them for free. So any money that they get is a 100% profit.. there's just too many garages out there are trying to clown. Around I think that they could ask a $1 50 or $2 a rotor. The only way that's profitable is if you're getting over $400 which I don't see happening in the near future

    I scrap as a hobby. I take cars that barely run and drive them to the yard, pull the wheels and tires. On older Volvo’s I pull the aluminum bumpers. Those go back with me. Some wheels and tires I sell others I take to a local tire guy and give him all the good tires. He takes them off the wheels and doesn’t charge me. I can leave a couple bad ones and pay $5 for the disposal. Like you I hold the aluminum wheels and bumpers till price is right. I do a rough clean out for change, radios, the battery and things I can sell. I never pay for anything. If it doesn’t run or I can’t get it to run in 30 minutes, Silly’s done. I don’t want the hassle of loading it by myself. The ole lady will follow me, and that cuts into my profits!!!

      Check motor breakage price at your local yard. I actually lose money if I take them apart. The motor is about half the weight of the steel leftovers.

    I'd be paying something like 10 cents a pound for rotors to haul them away for shops. 5 if the price is low. And that's for high volume.

    • @Adventureswithmike1
      @Adventureswithmike1  День назад

      How much do you get per pound for rotors? Because if your going to pay 10 cents a pound for the break rotors, there's not much money to be made. Current rotor price for me is $220 a gross ton . Which this video was based on, proving that there's no money to be made $5 to $6 on every 100 pounds is not enough.

    • @Opinionatedguy1989
      @Opinionatedguy1989 День назад +1

      @@Adventureswithmike1 I just thought about it. Last time I checked rotors were 260 on the low end in my area. 10 cents is too much. I'm thinking no more than 75 cents a rotor. I have to haul it away. And that is for higher volume. If it's small amounts, I'll take them for free.

    • @Adventureswithmike1
      @Adventureswithmike1  День назад

      @Opinionatedguy1989 yeah, metal prices are downright now. The only way you could buy it for that is if you're going to hold it and wait for the price to go up.. not trying to bring anybody down.I just want people not to make mistakes.I see it all the time..
