Yes. You don’t have to have your phone on you or close by , the phone can also be turned off and the watch will make and receive calls or text, emails etc.

I hate iphones I may get the smart watch and have use a iPhone 8 or the cheapest as a base station that apple watch requires may end up using the watch and my daily driver anyway eventually when apple ditches the charging port and android starts ditching the charge port I won't be able to use 3.5mm dongle for wired headphones anymore which the sad news is I have to listen to mediocre music quality on a all devices that don't have a charge port
No you can’t use the cellular service of the Apple Watch on metro PCs , but you can use it through Bluetooth connectivity from your iPhone. So it would require you to have your iPhone on you at all times or close by. With the cellular version you can leave your phone at home and use it just like your cell phone. Unfortunately with metro PCs, you have to have your iPhone on you
Maybe you have to give your carrier a call and see if you could add it during setup or the carrier have to add the watch for you. Not all carrier let you add it on your own
My cellular data is not working on my watch. I’ve unpaired and reset to factory and still nothing. It says it’s activated but on the watch where cellular is suppose to be lit when I touch it, it says no sim

I’m not sure why you’re having that problem, I have T-mobile and it was a breeze to set it up from home. Have you tried calling Verizon technical support ?

I know with Xfinity mobile they ride on the Verizon towers so more than likely you would have to call customer service or stop by one of their local stores.

Yeah true, I know the feeling. And the fact that even if you try to exchange the watch, they will charge a restocking fee on the cellular version depending on where you purchased it.

If you bought it at Apple, then you don’t have to pay a restocking fee. You can take it to the Apple store and they’ll exchange it as long as you’re within the return period.
That’s what it says when you insert a Sim in the iPhone if it’s locked to a carrier and you install a sim from a different carrier. Did you make sure the iPhone is unlocked?

Do you get a different number for the watch when you add cellular plan? If so, does it sync with original number(iPhone).
It pairs with the phones number but on your account you'll have the watch under a different number.

Did you have to add a line?
Yes. I had to add a line but it’s cheaper than additional a regular phone line

You can just use the Wi-Fi and gps, you don’t have to activate the cellular data.

It depends on which provider you have. In my case I didn’t have to with T mobile. You can check your provider’s website and see

Does the Apple Watch work with MetroPCS? Idk if it would work since it is owned by T Mobile or not. Been questioning that for a while now.

During the reset process, did you select the option to keep cellular data? If not then you have to reactivate the watch through your carrier

Yes unfortunately you have to add a data line for the LTE Apple Watch. It is not mandatory to add it, only if you want to.
