God bless Neil for his musical tribute to Ms. Larsen. A company of great musicians all around. This song has always reminded me of an epic Western movie -- the kind they don't make anymore.
and still after all these years of being together! How great is that in this day and age when its all too easy to walk away..and they are famous also..they sure kept grounded! Neil is one of my fav singers.
Prairie Wind was a truely emotional cornerstone, I believe in Neil's life. The evidence being the many times throughout the film he shed tears that one can only feel when playing a song, that you may have played a million times and you finally figured out just what it all meant. There are songs to this day that I labor through the will to hold back tears and be "professional". Being able to play music to comunicate what your heart, mind and soul feels is a gift I wil never take lightly.
I decided a awhile back that If I have to cry while performing (twice so far) well, that's just what occurs. People get it and it brings us (some of us) closer.
Have always loved Neil's singing and song writing. I'm around the same age and he has always been a "local" in the SF Bay Area where I also live. His concerts to raise money for The Bridge School that he and Pegi started for their handicapped son were all so very enjoyable and touching. The other comments from around the time the performance unfortunately have very dated info, as would never have thought that Neil would divorce Pegi for much younger actress, Daryl Hannah in 2014. Pegi died of cancer a few years later. So very sad.
Have seen Neil Young lots of times in concert he has lots of different people rolled into one albums like everyone knows this is nowhere compared to albums like freedom and this is yet another Neil version but what's so amazing they are all great
321pieguy, this is a concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville about 2009 or so. It is one of the all time great concerts and concert films. Jonathan Demme (Stop Making Sense - Talking Heads) did it. It's a concert and a "making of the concert" movie in one, and a lot takes place in Neil's old car.
I love him more Tom!!! I am going to see him play with Crazy Horse at Vector Arena in Auckland NZ on March 21st and I CAN'T WAIT!!! "Live Rust" was the first album I everr bought with my own money! I have been obsessing about him ever sincce seeing Rust Never Sleeps in New Zealand in 1979..... Bought every album (on vinyl) and just finished reading his book "Waging Heavy Peace".
Love how Neil looks at Peggy as he's saying "you and I" in the second verse, and she just gets all girly and gushy. Thoughtful husband and lover, that.
mark they also say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder so its not that simple not everybody has the same taste i love neil but can also understand why some dont
I was going to ask "Where the hi-fi version?" but then read "From the Jonathan Demme film Heart of Gold" ... fair enough. - Might have to break down and buy the damn thing!
Funny as hell. "Is there a guitar player in the house?"
Neil is truly one of a kind. Brilliant.
Love how he has that moment with his wife, you and I
we were captured

The best song ever.

Watch that fiddle player behind Emi Lou. We grew up in the same NH. He made it and I didn't. Ha. Ha. Way to go Clinton.
great tune. .... emmylou and nicolette have matching dresses ... I smell a cat fight.
08shortstop That is Pegi, his wife at the time. Nicolette had already passed away RIP.
@dostfez Louis Armstrong said, that there were only 2 kinds of music: Good and Bad.. if you don't know which this is, i feel sorry for you
Hello
Cant buy a thrill ?
Ms Emmy & Co. we do implore ... ple give us more.
That's Neil's wife Pegi - they married in 1978 I believe.
I guess he traded her in for new model Darryl Hannah.
