    I really enjoyed this video, Cheule. I don’t think I’ll ever break into this price range for this particular hobby (though I’ve said similar words and been wrong before), so it’s cool to get such a detailed walkthrough of something I would consider inaccessible.
    Thanks for all the help in the community, too. You’re generous with your time on the subreddit.

      Thank you so much for this comment. It means a lot to me. I had this moment of fear just before I posted this video-realizing how much time, money, sweat & tear went into making it-and worrying that the audience would hate it and I’d get flamed for being “boring” and “inane.”
      Again, thank you so much. I won’t stop reviewing lights as well, but I really like this format as well, and I’m looking to get Charles Wiggins (of CWF Custom flashlights) on in the near future!

      ⁠@@cheulefor what it’s worth, I also like the fact that you’ve added your face to the mix. It makes your videos feel more conversational, whereas most content creators in this hobby focus on their hands and desk.
      But no, even as someone who will almost certainly never consider buying these lights, I love learning about the drivers and design behind them. I think design and UI tickle the same part of the brain for most of us, regardless of cost.
      It’s also worth noting that in the same way cutting edge technologies and innovations in motorsports like Formula 1 trickle down to production road cars, innovations in high end custom lights like these also trickle down into more budget options for lights.
      I’m glad I’m not alone in this sentiment - the response seems overwhelmingly positive, aside from a few judgmental folks who like to gate keep how hobbyists spend their own money.

    I think your premise of price not being a factor in deciding the perfect edc is incorrect. A big part of it for some people is, what if it breaks or i lose it? If it's a once in a lifetime purchase, you won't want to even use it for fear of losing or damaging it. I think full customs are cool, but they really shouldn't be considered when deciding a perfect edc since they're so far out of the market price range. "Perfect" has to consider all aspects, not just the functional checklist.
    That being said. I really love that you're making long form content discussing flashlights, and I look forward to many podcast episodes in the future!

      Oh I’m certain price matters to *most* people. It wasn’t something that mattered to me, in my search for the perfect grail edc.
      As far as breakage, Cool Fall offers a lifetime warranty to the original owner, and he has been making lights and honoring warranty for 15+ years.

    Love your videos and the passion that you have for great flashlights and the art it takes to make them. That being said. If price was to be taken in consideration, then that is the worst possible EDC light imaginable! 🤣

    I really love this!!! I love watching reviews but having the back and forth conversations almost makes me feel like I’m the one asking the questions! Cause those are the kinds of things I’m thinking and I always want answers too! Like when he asked about the clip tension.. priceless! I love your channel! You have quickly become my go to for flashlights! I hope this comment gives you a great feeling! You’re doing amazing my man!!! 😊

    Thank you for the video! I believe you’re right to an extent. Batteries in series will have additive voltages, not capacity. But at those higher voltages, the driver will pull in lower amps for the same output. For example, a Malkoff MDC LMH head will pull 2200 mah at 3.8V, but will only pull 950 mah at 9V for the same output. So pretty much higher voltages makes your battery’s capacity go further, not sure if it’s a completely linear relationship, but definitely higher runtimes.

    Great channel, very interesting and informative. I’ve made the step to buy some custom production knives but just can’t make the step with the custom flashlights. I’ll stick with surefire, olight and similar lights for now.

      That’s understandable, you gotta pour your money where your passion is. For example, I have a couple custom knives (Bull’s Shamwari, etc) but I only carry stuff like Civivi. And I have hundreds of lights and only 10 knives total.

    The Tri-V has been my holy grail light for a long time, and although I will likely never be able to own or afford one, I have found my Acebeam M1 Terminator to be a fantastic "poor mans" version.

      Although there are similarities in flood and throw design, I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that in execution they are quite different.

      @@cheule The execution of the Tri-V is really quite different compared to ANY LIGHT haha, that's what makes it so special. The Terminators flood/throw design combined with its physical shape is what makes it remind me of the Tri-V in a way.

    how bright would be the stock 007 be? my daily carry for about 10 yrs is about 300lm and i need a bit brighter than that now if that would be my replacement carry. i searched all over the net and the one i found said they are only about 270lm? after mods its just 350lm, the form factor requirements achieved but still waiting for the brightness before i pull the trigger.

    Worth noting that the eu has passed a ruling that gadgets phones laptops etc soon will have to have user replacable cells without the use of special tools. So any of the disposable when cells die flashlights wont be available in the eu. Which is a fair market chunk so we may see wholesale redesigns of flashlights to removable cells.

      It’s interesting, very configurable. I’m glad I have it, and would recommend owning one, but if I could only keep one… still the 007.

    Well no. You can’t have your cake and eat it too. You have to choose: You can either 1. Double the voltage. Or 2. Double the capacity.
    Connecting the batteries in series, increases the voltage while keeping the capacity the same.
    Connecting the batteries in parallel, increases the total capacity while keeping the voltage the same.
    Your formula is correct, namely; Voltage times the amperage = work.
    So lets use formula for the batteries individually and then add the batteries together to see why you have to choose between increasing the voltage or increasing the capacity:
    One battery by itself: 4.2 volts times 1.2 amps = 5.04 watts (power). Meaning, if you get about 5 watts of power per battery, you aren’t allowed to have more energy per battery than 5 watts. So that means if you are using two batteries, 10 watts in total is what you get.
    Well, the way you were doing it where you doubled the voltage, 8.4 volts, and doubled the capacity, 2.4 amps (2400mAh), means you would get 20 watts of power with two batteries; 8.4 volts times 2.4 amps = 20.16 watts (power). But remember, you can’t have more than 10 watts with those two batteries. And to check this another way: The parallel setup that doubles the capacity while keeping the voltage the same formula would be 4.2 volts times 2.4 amps = 10.08 watts. Likewise, using the series configuration, namely the setup you have, that increases the voltage while keeping the capacity the same would be 8.4 volts times 1.2 amps = 10.08
    Let me know if that makes sense.
    Side note: The standard voltage for a single 4.2 volt lithium-ion battery cell is often considered to be around 3.7 volts. This is also called the “nominal voltage”, which is the average voltage over the discharge cycle, around 3.7 volts. So when using the formula, Voltage x Amps = Power, you would use 3.7 volts times 1.2 Amps to estimate the watts.

    You should add in your videos more than just your opinion on the lights that alot of us buy after watching and share what the requirements are for the light your Promoting.as in what batteries it takes Protected or unprotected whether or not. You have to purchase a battery charger specifically for the light that you're promoting end. How to work the battery charger? What brand of battery charger should you purchase to run the light that you are promoting that we are buying

    I find these so ugly and extremely overpriced. For their $2k price you should at least get a infinite variable output and not prefixed modes.
