I spent 2 years embroidering a tree skirt for my two grandbabies to put around their tree. I decided to trim it with a braided cord trim. I watched a video with the "OLD" braiding method for joining the ends. After I tried that fiasco, I thought I had ruined my work. However, I found YOUR suggestion and easily finished the tree skirt. I had trouble finding the join and I made it! Thanks for saving what I hope becomes an heirloom! ❤
This the best tuition yet: helped me a lot. You are right there is no way that you can re-plait or reweave twisted cord. I can Now use up my mountain of lovely cords I have on my pillow projects. Many many thanks
Whew, thank you so much for your tutorial Pam. I was just about to do the twisted cording by untwisting it. My twisted cording unraveled so badly I was dreading to that. Then I came across your video, what a lifesaver. I can't thank you enough.
I have the Brother ST150HDH Strong and Tough Machine....do you know if it has the Needle Mirror Image Feature or do I just change needle position more to the Left.....I have the pressor foot SA161 (Adjustable Zipper/Cording-Pipping Foot).....not sure that this Brother is compatible with the Pearl and Piping foot (ESG-PP) that you used in this Video.......but I really like how you joined the two (2) ends of the pipping.........all other videos that I've seen have you undoing the cording......which turns out to be a mess! Thanks for sharing this video......going to try this even with the SA161 Pressor foot......
I tried your method with a zipper foot on my old Singer. Since I was using a very thick cord on bump backed toile it didn't work very well. But I think that the thickness of the cord as well as the specialized foot makes d big difference. Thanks for a good video.
Hi Margie, you can purchase the Pearl and Piping foot (ESG-PP) from your local Baby Lock retailer - www.babylock.com/accessories/sewing-feet/pearl-piping-foot
