Imagine the courage it must have taken to go against Hitler. He had the support of the vast majority of the military and civilian population. And the resistors knew that the punishment for failure might be WORSE than death (torture).

All those conspirators acted out of their moral conscience to save Germany and the world. 🇩🇪

Castle Itter May 5th 1945 . American and German soldiers joined forces to defeat the SS. There should be a movie made about the battle.

Well, I do not know too much about the Polish resistance movement. I am half Polish, and my grandpa escaped execution as an Officer in the Polish army and came to Hungary. He understood that an army is an army. I think every country has good men and bad. So try to see the individuals instead of labels as "Jew", "Nazi", "German" or "Polish". And also, you never know when do you find urself in a situation like that. Would u have that courage that this guy?

The architect of Valkyrie is Henning von Tresckow who was left out of the conversation because he wasn't present at the Bendlerblock at that time. He was stationed at the frontline, so he left the job to Stauffenberg.
Stauffenberg was the wrong man to do the assassination because he was disabled and his presence was required at the Bendlerblock. However, they didn't have any other alternatives. The others didn't have access to Hitler or simply unwilling. Had Stauffenberg not volunteer, there would have been no 20 July.

The German people should be proud of their nation. There was an incredibly dark period from the early 30s to 1945. I don't believe that this defines the German people and spirit. Just as slavery was a dark period for my country it doesn't define me. I love my country and love Germany and the people. God bless the US and Deutschland.

My Jr. High School history teacher was a WWII Vet. There is no way to discribe his passion in teaching & having been a survivor from the German war. Had no idea folks could be so cruel towards one another. My senior yeay in high school, we had a German AFS student spend a year with in the US. I wanted to engange her on her thoughts of Germany's Nazi past, she stated that it was something bad and should not be spoken. Germans are emberrased of its history and rather forget about it...TBA

Whew a very good documentary of proud men and women who decided to take matters into their own hands in the name of freedom, justice, and just what is right, and i still after going through a few comments here and other videos on youtube still see racist comments everywhere, when are people going to stop being assholes and stop downing eachother racism is learned and as long as we continue to hate we will never be united when we have to fight against the alien invasion of 2012 lol.

General Olbricht masterminded Valkyrie. If Stauffenberg had not failed, it would have been a success.

@Xcaret916 Well, can you blame them
If the it had been The U.S that had committed the same kinds of unspeakable horrors that the Nazi's had, later generations of our people would ashamed of it's history too

There is a possible footnote. When Stauffenberg was a young man, he was part of the inner circle of the poet Stefan George, called "Das geheime Deutschland" "the secret Germany". This was a circle of young men and they tried to form an elite of german men.
It is quite dificult to describe the philosophical and cultural ideas of this "Secret Germany". Basically it was emphasizing an ideal Germany, not a real political idea. So German men should follow antique ieas of virtue - the Kalokagathie (excellency of the body and the mind) or idealistic ideas of knighthood in mediveal times.
This circle saw itself as a cultural avantgarde, trying to restore these virtues.
So it is quite possible that Stauffenberg did not shout "Lang lebe das heilige Deutschland" - Long live sacred Germany but "Es lebe das Geheime Deutschland" "Long live Secret Germany".
      But we will never know.
