  • I have been wanting to try out a hub driven electric skateboard for a really long time, the guys at exway sent be a brand new X1 Pro and today I get to try it out! I am going to go over my initial impressions of this sleek hub driven board and compare it to my belt driven boosted board V2 Dual Plus. I’ll also take it out for a quick spin and see how it handles my normal ride spots here in Greenville SC. Right now I only have the regular version of the pro, but you can also replace the trucks with the riot pack and make this same board belt driven, hopefully I will get to try that out at some point.
    Big thanks to the guys at exway for sending me the board to review, just remember I will still give my honest opinion!
    Also if you are stuck on the boosted brand ( I really like them too so don’t feel bad) you can use my link to get $100 off ( and I will get a $50 gift card): www.talkable.c...
    Safety Gear:
    Thousand Helmet, I have navy my wife has wood but now wants gold too: amzn.to/2PJCF5I
    ski/snowboard/winter onewheel, eskate helmet: amzn.to/2PBMp1S
    Wrist guards (great with exway and onewheel, tricky with boosted controller for me..): amzn.to/2MIFVxz
    Backpack high viz reflectors: amzn.to/35jW4Ri
    Really bright flashing light for helmet, backpack bike etc: amzn.to/2EjHz40
    Video Gear:

    Big thanks as always to my loving wife for helping me edit these videos, I couldn’t do it without you!❤️❤️

    Great review. Not only did it help me make up my mind to get one of these, but one of the other guys that commented included not just 1, but TWO discount codes for a total of $40 off my board. I’m having it shipped air and that cut the cost in half. Or another way to look at it is I get $40 off accessories like a rapid charger or extra wheels! Overall, great vid, thanks! I liked and subscribed.

      Thank you for the quick response!! Now I’m DOUBLE sure I don’t want to buy a MeePo for my first board (or any board, for that matter.). These “toys” are NOT inexpensive!! I want REAL value for my money AND a company that will be around in the future as well as stocks replacement parts or upgradable parts (like a rapid charger, new drive wheels for the Pro 1 Hub Drive, etc. Again, thanks, man!!

      John D Dyer I sent my order in yesterday for the X 1 Pro (hub drive). In the end I got 1 discount code from another reviewer for $20 and another from EXWAY directly for $25 off, for a total of $45. That covered all the air shipping costs. The company said I should have it in my hands within 2 weeks!! Yes, stoked!!

    That’s a nice board. I’ll be saving up this year for my next electric board. Either an XR to go with my pint or what ever replaces the xr. I’ve been looking at longboards too and trying to see which kind would work best for me and the roads in my area.

  • @BlackPipe8

    Hey man would you recommend it as a first board? I already ride classic longboard and I really love the design and the fact that it looks like a normal skateboard. I'm very concerned with the stiffness of the dock, especially when compared to other less expensive esk8. I'm basically considering between this one and the backfire galaxy which also seems a pretty good deal for the lower cost. Thanks!

    • @JohnDDyer
      @JohnDDyer  3 года назад

      See if you can find a used one (any of them really) that way you can sell it if you don’t like it for basically what you bought it for. That’s what I did with my first boosted. I really like a springy deck and honestly prefer the quiet of hub motors but if you really want torque then get the louder belts

      Jad DUDE!! I was JUST buying my Flex Pro 1 when I came across this review AND your comment with the (not 1, but TWO discount codes!)!! I used both of them at checkout and, indeed, DID get $40 off! Which was great b/c I was ordering air shipping to the US and it cut the cost in half. It also helped me decided between the Exway board or the MeePo AWD Pro. I was kind of on the fence with the MeePo and the app that comes with the Exway board, plus the sweet discount, made up my mind to definitely go Exway Flex Pro 1. Thanks Much, bro!!!

      @@GlockFan19 Glad to hear that man!! My first electric skateboard was a Meepo V3, and it has broken down several times over the first few months and I've had to buy a new battery after 2 months of owning the board; their customer support is also downright awful. While Meepo has some great boards (AWD and NLS Pro); I think you made the right decision considering Exway's boards are far more durable & their support team responds back quickly.

    I’m looking at buying my first eskate and can’t decide between the flex and x1 pro. I have only a little skating experience (enough to be relatively comfortable on a standard skateboard) but I’m not sure if I’d be better off with a flexi deck or stiff deck. I love the sleek look of the x1 pro as well as how quiet it is but not sure if the flexible deck would be better for a casual/inexperienced rider. Thoughts?

    • @chuckmaddison2924
      @chuckmaddison2924 4 года назад

      Hi there, I do have a few thoughts. I bought a cheap Razor to see if I liked before I bought a decent board. First, make sure there is an easy to obtain spare parts supply. If you have limited experience I strongly recommend reverse kingpin trucks KEEP AWAY from double kingpin trucks like on Evolve as can become unstable / wobble at speed but carve good. standard kingpin can also become unstable. a bit of flex can make the ride more smooth but the high-speed downhill crowd goes for a stiffer bit better stability. Larger wheels go over cracks better but you have to reach down lower if you want to foot brake. Belt drive gives torque/(a force acting around a point.) multiplication so will go uphill and accelerate better. Belts you need to keep correct tension and they break but you can swap wheels some belt boards also break motor plates on a regular basis. Hub motors feel a bit harsh and skins/tyers need replacing occasionally. Direct drive motors can get damaged from impact but like a belt, you can swap wheels. I would look for a range around say 25-kilometer mark if low becomes a nuisance if you have to walk back. And yes I agree on the Exway X1 pro. It seems to have everything . The only thing about it that bugs me is the type of battery pack used, I cant go to the local electronics shop and buy more, I guess that's me over analyzing and being stupid : ) My standard board is a drop-through and my electric is a Black Hawk. Both stiff.

    • @JohnDDyer
      @JohnDDyer  4 года назад +1

      I think it depends on where you are riding. If it’s more bumpy roads and stuff I would get the flex, if it’s more smooth streets and over bike trails then stiff one is nice ( plus it’s very stealthy). I really liked the quietness of the hub motors too compared to the loud belts of the boosted board ( but the loud can be fun depending on the circumstances). I bet anything you get you will have a blast!

    • @chuckmaddison2924
      @chuckmaddison2924 4 года назад

      @@JohnDDyer Hi , I tend to go for stability and speed which is why mine is stiff with reverse kingpins. I also use a drop through for downhill.
      The noise, yes the first board I bought to try was gear drive and was like a 747 screaming. I do miss but the big plus was people could hear you coming easy.

      Well now the have the exway flex so I’ll have to try that out too. I really like the flexible deck in the city with bumps. But when it’s smooth the stiff deck is great on the exway!

    I won’t buy this board if i were you. knowing the fact that this company will take your money and run! I have recently bought the X1. Sent me a bad unit. This company would not reply in regards to this. If you just recently got one with no issue. Then good for you. Hope it stays that way. Because you just lost your 6 moths warranty. Their website has closed! I tried exway oversea to resolve this issue. But No luck there! Make your money worth it. Find a company who would stand behind their product!

    Hello, got the Exway X1 Pro with the Riot belt. Real disappointed user :/ Want to inform those looking to buy: You won't get the range you expect, customer service will be fast to answer for your purchase but days will pass before you get any help resolving any issues. You can't get a refund if you try your board and you have an issue, that will be on you. The board is tested with a person weighing 75 kg on flat surface (most likely a running track) as gear 2 (Max 20 km/h). Nowhere does the company inform about this when purchasing. My board goes 14-15 km on Gear 2, which is not even close to 25 km.
    I know I am ranting, but for all means I just want you all to have all the facts.
    Otherwise the board is fun as h3ll! Like snowboarding on asphalt with the given fear of any pothole or stone that will come your way! I'm just getting a backhanded treatment from Exway

      @@JohnDDyer It does not look that way, unless you want to offer an arm and a leg. Then you get what you pay for. I just started to get help after nearly 2 weeks of contact back and forth about what to do. The realisation is that when you get an issue, what then and what will it cost.
      I mostly want everyone to understand that the board is fantastic, but it may take weeks before you can get help if you have any issues. Keep on rollin'!
