I was married for 12 years. When I was ready to have children, and running out of time, my husband said he wasn’t sure he wanted children. I know now that he was looking for someone else. He admitted he was afraid to end the marriage until he had a woman to go to, and he did exactly that. Since the divorce I have not been in a relationship close enough to even think of marriage. Forty plus years alone, and I find it very difficult to hear that I shouldn’t be alone, according to Kabbalistic teaching. Looking back, I see the faults in our marriage. We never got to the point of real intimacy. We were both secular Jews. Yet both of us became psychotherapists……. I don’t know what kind of therapist he was. Yet I know I understand empathy and compassion. Ironically, I came to specialize in couples’ therapy.

The Rabbi studies teachings far older than what I do, but who says they know everything. We are naturally religious, and free of God, we sense this freedom is not liked, and stumble from day to day, year to year. Can we make ourselves more attractive, who do we trust, can we see who we can and can't trust. You can merge with the Higher power and intelligence who's character is Love, controlling breathing and stretching, cardio vascular sport exercise also controls breathing, poetry is often about love. And you will see increases in speed, humour, humility, telepathy, even control of your weather.
Love will be all around you, though we are also free of God, and will still stumble.
      Humanity is not liked,

According to kabbalistic teaching one should not be alone? As Jews studying the Kabbalah was always considered taboo. There is no doubt that Judaism pushes marriage so that one can procreate & multiply. Thus it is from this concept that the Rav pushes the philosophy of becoming one in a marriage. But this is also the Rabbi’s propaganda. Jews used to have multiple wives. How do you have that oneness, intimacy with multiple wives? To be in a loveless marriage is hell. It is infinitely worse than being alone. And being alone does not necessarily mean one is lonely. Regardless of what Rabbis preach. I find it humorous that you both became psychotherapists. Did you find closure, Fulfilment, through your secular education? The intimacy that the Rav speaks of is not necessarily real. But in a religious marriage the roles & expectations are clearly drawn. And both spend all their effort toward each other and in the role of husband & wife excluding any form of intimacy with anyone outside the marriage. The only other input is one’s constant study & belief in G-d. So if you find religious life style meaningful and fulfilling, your likely to find contentment. It seems that you have regret and are wanting of such a bond. It is never too late. Infinitely easier if your religious and accepting of the expected role playing.

Rabbi, your ability to share so much profound wisdom for anyone insightful enough to listen is truly Godly work. The depth of detail you delineate is remarkable, though I think for many, it might seem a little overwhelming. But again, as with a previous comment I made, I am a Catholic, but hold allegiance toward many Jewish people. Anyway, I have also felt that, and this is my quote, "your fears and weaknesses keep you from becoming you", as my life experience has shown that this holds true for me. Is becoming your true self one of our primary purposes in life??

I love this talk and it can hardly be called a debate, at least by my connotation with the word debate. You are both wise, pillars, and we are lucky for your sharing if these important perspectives. Grateful for each of you ❤ the only thing I want to push back on is near the end, regarding mushrooms 🍄 I have eaten mushrooms, though am terrified to do so now, and don't know if I ever will again. Still, to say that they allow people out of their body and to thus bask in dimensions of disregard for the body, free of consequences, and freed from a call to mindfulness, is a grave misunderstanding, at least if I use my own experiences with them as a point of reference, which is all I can do 😂🙏 with mushrooms, there is nowhere to hide, and it can become a tightrope walk. getting drunk on alcohol would be a better example of a state wherefrom people can hide from their bodies and a sense of consequence.

Treat yourself the way you would like others to treat you. This is called self-love. If you do for others above that which you do for yourself, when they get angry and walk away, so will also the things you did for them. Never expect from others more than you are willing to do for yourself.

There is inherit individuality. Clearly God created man and woman separately.
However, he still said "it is not good for man to be alone."
He did not say, "it's bad for man to be alone." The wording matters, I don't think God ever wants us to deny our individualism. However, togetherness is the reason why he created us all.

I would not take the advice of a therapist. If one is constantly trying to be an individual your divorce is on the horizon. “ Merging on different levels?” The therapist is dealing with dis function and placating to the me generation. If both man & wife don’t constantly work at being one & instead start focusing on me, here comes the divorce. I’ll bet you give the therapist 10 years & she’ll be divorced.

@@vaquera9368 based on this sexual therapist’s views she will end up divorced. If you are still trying to find you, if your life is all about you, as in the “ Me Generation” your not marriage material. The education of a sexual therapist is all about , if it feels good to you do it. Sorry that is bad advice. Marriage no longer is taken as a contract for life but rather a stepping stone for as long as your happy.
Marriage counselling is a bad joke for the most part. One must recognize that psychology snd psychiatry has become contaminated by political agenda’s rather than actual science. Today we have destroyed morality , religious belief , for do it in the road mentality. What was once considered a mental illness is promoted as normal behaviour.
Go ahead have anal sex till the cows come home. But don’t be surprised that you develop rectal incontinence. There is a right and a wrong. Perversions have consequences weather your a believer or not. It’s not that the Rabbi has any answers, but the therapist is definitely useless.

The title puzzles me. These two sages are not engaging in disputation or argument. They come together from two sources of authority* to bolster one another's points on the topic of human intimacy and its opposite, aloneness.
One supplies a topic sentence in the outline of the conversation, and they take turns supplying evidence--psychological and Talmudic. Am I wrong?
It's a lovely discussion and such a pleasure to see the respect these two have for one another. As a woman, I think I did not expect this level of respect for the mind of an educated woman in any religion. She too is showing grace and respect to the Rabbi. There is a harmony here, not the discord of dissension.

I have to disagree with Rabbi's statement that it wasn't good for man to be alone just because God said that it wasn't. My view is that God said it because He knew ( since He knows all things ) that it wasn't good and therefore He said it and (amen!) created woman as a companion meet for man . Every one of the animals were created in pairs so shouldn't man also have had his own mate ? Maybe God said it in order to justify the making of the woman (and that she was not a necessary evil but perhaps a dangerous necessity ) even though there would be trouble arising from that because of the jealous foe .

What is the purpose of religion? God never created religion, it is a human created set of laws to control humans. Then do not veer to the left or right.
8If a matter eludes you in judgment, between blood and blood, between judgment and judgment, or between lesion and lesion, words of dispute in your cities, then you shall rise and go up to the place the Lord, your God, chooses.
9And you shall come to the Levitic kohanim and to the judge who will be in those days, and you shall inquire, and they will tell you the words of judgment.
10And you shall do according to the word they tell you, from the place the Lord will choose, and you shall observe to do according to all they instruct you.

It all depends on the partner! If you are completely honest and completely love your mate, there is nothing better than becoming one! Problem is, people are less devoted and like all their options! Selfish interests! You need to be one especially with Children. Mom running out the door every day isn't creating much of a home! Dad coming home with a 12 pack every day after work isn't going to cut it either. This rat race system has us disregarding everything that really matters. Family! If you have a Child, consider yourself blessed and walking humbly with God! With that being said, There are a lot of men and women who fall victim to infidelity these days. That's happened to my marriage of 17 years with Children. You can't control your partner but, the farther away you are, the more likely they will fill that void with somebody else if given an attractive enough opportunity! Temptation is always knocking on the door when you seperate yourself! Don't take your Family for granted! They are a blessing from our Creator!

At the beginning of time/space, the Elohim formed the cosmos. God conceives of archetypal man in His Image -- that of an Infinite Unity of Truth, Light and Goodness, wherein woman rests in potential. In other words, woman is contained within, and is an expression of man. Thus, the son of man is born unto the first woman. The order of decent then, is from the Father -- the Generative Power, to the mother -- the regenerative power, and then to the son, first born of the earth. Rather than love, it would be better if everyone treated one another with Goodness, a quality fundamental to God's nature. And God saw, and it was good. Remember, to knock on the door of wisdom, one first must enter through the gate of humility. In modern times, love has become a rather ambiguous, abused term, relative to tactile and emotional responses and lower faculties. Respect for the Generative and regenerative powers must be upheld. In this, is the spring of human worthiness.

The CREATOR made Adam both male and female, then separated the 2 sides.
The CREATOR chose Israel out of all the Nations of Mankind and set them aside as His Cornerstone in this World, declared Israel to be His Firstborn Son, made an Eternal Covenant with and made them His Light to the Nations.

Even from a conventional scientific perspective, the female rests within the male -- the mother within the Father -- the regenerative within the Generative powers. In other words, the man determines the sex of a child. Woman is an expression of man. Humans can not elevate themselves to god. It is essential for all humans to have good manners and respect to god. God is not a friend in street to be insulted in such a way. We are limited compared to the almighty who created the seven heaven and earth. Can humans know what god is thinking or what god had planned absolutely not. It was through Abraham's first son with his first wife that the CREATOR made an Eternal Covenant with, who will inherit the Kingdom forever and to all Eternity and who will inherit the Nations to Serve and go by their Leadership and the Nations who refuse shall Perish.
Gd's Wrath will visit all who have come against His Firstborn Son Israel the Jews, just as Scripture tells, HE will make their Enemies a footstool at their feet, as Isaiah tells Gd will make those who have Despised His Son Israel the Jews to PROSTRATE THEMSELVES at the soles of their feet.

First of all let me tell u your facts are wrong. It was prophet Adam the first man who taught man the oneness of god. God always sent prophets to guide mankind to every nation but it is man who deviated from his path. God did favour the children of Israel more than any nation because they had the most prophet and were righteous at the time not because the race but the obedience and worship they did towards god. Unfortunately the righteous forefathers died and the great great children had lost the true path of monotheism. When any nation didn’t preserve god revelation and principles they will distort the truth. The convent was replaced to the children of Ismeal. Second statement you made is incorrect because Sarah couldn’t conceive. So Abraham married Hager and conceived the first son Ishmael. The bible contains many contradictions so it is not reliable source of information. The author of the bible are anonymous and no chain of narration and never been memorized to preserve the revelation. So without preservation of scripture your claim are baseless.

Covert feminism in a subjective moral standard.
God said it! What He said it.....
So isn't Holy to be a helper, isn't Holy to be with someone, isn't Holy to become in one with the other . Woow woow woow
Job tried to raise up an argument or debate with God.
He believed according his perception of "relationship" with the others was perfect.
Therefore he judged himself of his own moral standard versus God's moral standard.
Yet he remained faithful and obedient to God.
So God explained him in other words God said it , and because of the fear of the Lord he greatly understood it.
Unfortunately Job could not read it what God said it.
So needed a process as a result of long-suffering to be explained to him.
Yet he was obedient and faithful.
Now we can read it what God said it.
But we cannot be obedient and faithful because we are expert of the Expert.
As an advice don't despise or oppose what God said it rather seek the reason behind His idea.
