Even though it’s difficult I keep faith because I know God is real. I trust in you Father and keep faith even as I struggle to take care of my children. The past two years have been hard on me. I’m a single mom. I suffered an heart attack and I’m battling lupus. Both of my sons are autistic and to be honest Heavenly Father I’m so overwhelmed. I’m constantly struggling financially to buy groceries and struggling to pay my rent and now that I’m home schooling my sons I’m struggling to buy their school supplies. I want to give up. But even in hard times I know I must choose to have faith. No matter our struggle, we can turn to God. He knows us personally and can give us strength to overcome our challenges. I Trust in YOU LORD PLEASE HEAR MY PRAYERS!

Brilliant talk Rabbi, thank you, deep and insightful, compassionate and thoughtful. I sometimes think bad things happen to good people like the holocaust because we exist on earth where free will happens and evil tendencies hurt purity and goodness. Its sad reflection of humanity as a whole but not the fault of the innocent souls. I do think they done a service like angels to humanity, they teach us the horrible reality of our actions, so for all who died in Holocaust, may their light shine eternal and they receive all the goodness for ever no more bad. I met a woman who was a survivor, she was beautiful she had a light and love in her face, so full of earnestness and intelligience and beauty, so what struck me is how can I be angry when she shows this example. She showed me goodness wins. Thanks this is a beautiful talk today, I wish I could shut my mouth and not hold onto my opinions when it comes to religion and politics, it seems sometimes this is hardwired into my being from a young age, thanks for making me want to try harder.

Rabbi, thank you so much for this explanation.
Two days ago I cried while reading the weekly torah portion, Deuteronomy chapter 28, because I saw too many curses to the Jewish people, even though I am not Jewish. Curses too detailed, way too harsh to the most extreme, and even evil to the extent they were in my eyes. After watching your video I thought that there must be a difference between punishment against sins, and curses, since curses seem to be much more evil that punishments and do not seem balanced to the sin in my eyes. I have not read all the Tanakh but I have never seen as many blessings as there were curses in this chapter. I cried because sadly the Jewish people thought History have endured these curses already and it was not just some verses written in the Torah or even said by God, this is impossible for me to understand, it seems like God does let the worst of the worst happen when his commandments are not kept, and The Almighty Himself seems to bring himself the curses not just as a cause and effect in verse 49.
Chapter 28 verse 45: " All these curses shall befall you; they shall pursue you and overtake you, until you are wiped out, because you did not heed your God יהוה and keep the commandments and laws that were enjoined upon you."
In verse 49 " יהוה will bring a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, which will swoop down like the eagle-a nation whose language you do not understand "
This verse shows God himself bringing nations against Israel. In my mind this is as if saying it was not just cause and effect, it was God's most severe punishment, severe in a way I did not thought God will ever go against his firstborn Exodus 4:22, mentions Israel as God's firstborn son. It sincerely makes me afraid of God and afraid of even my intrusive thoughts against God, thoughts I'd wish wouldn't show up in my mind.
I started crying because the eagle was the symbol of Germany, and because it even goes further in the passage,
Verse 53 of that same chapter " you shall eat your own issue, the flesh of your sons and daughters that your God יהוה has assigned to you, because of the desperate straits to which your enemy shall reduce you. "
The rest of the curses were indeed horrible beyond imagination, but this curse is more than rock bottom. I still love Hashem. I have left two religions from the country I am from: Santeria, and various forms of Christianity for Hashem, no other God's before him, I have tried to follow the Noahide Laws and to be honest I have not fulfilled them always.
One of the Noahide laws is to not curse the name of God, and I will never ever do that. I believe in God's mercy and divine judgement, but some dark places in my mind tell me that my judgement and my sins which I will not be able to overcome, sins like intrusive thoughts, sex outside marriage, and even when I stole a pack of chewing gum from the store could bring upon me curses that in my mind are much more severe than the sin that was committed. Since Israel did not commit the sins that were his curses, such as eating of the own issue, the flesh of your sons and daughters, Israel never forced any people to commit this curse, yet the verse says " you shall".
I understand that there are laws that go against this, and that there are mitzvots that will safe Israel from these curses because the blessings are opposite to the curses. I also understand that these curses are from a cause and effect, but in some verses it seems like God himself brings like in verse 49 a nation against you, maybe that is still from cause and effect even when God himself is the one bringing the curses. Thank Hashem I am still on his side and I am not committing more sins, I know God has a merciful judgement stronger than anything we could even think of, but this was a blow to my soul and it could have easily pushed me to the evil side, and sadly other people who are not as close to Hashem may see this chapter and think that God's curses are much more harshly than the result of the sin, or the commandments not kept. I am scared to choose what to believe in, if to think these curses are cause and effect, or if to believe that as the text may suggest that it was God himself bringing the punishment, still thank you for your explanation, I will have to meditate much more, I still feel God's essence trying to safe me from my evil inclination and thoughts to do with this topic. Barukh Hashem

Wow , my spiritual tradition is so different
I enjoy the lecture and have learn many things from Rabbi Freidman by listening to many of his lectures
Yet , someone else has paid the price for me
He was cursed so I can be blessed
He was found guilty so I can be adjudicated ( innocent)
and is by my faith in him that I am made righteous in the eyes of the almighty father creator of heaven and earth
Paul ( Saul ) would say that every-time I want to do the right thing I find myself doing the wrong thing
But thank God he put another plan into effect
Now I no longer live but he lives in me
Paul or Saul before he converted was a devoted Jew who defended his faith to the death
But he found the rest of the story , the missing link
The law was given to acknowledge your sinful nature
Without law there is no sin to break
But now that we became aware of this sinful nature then what ?
The lamb of God that takes the sins of the world grant us peace

God never does injustice. Respected Rabbi, what Torrah says about LGBTQ? What happened to Lot and why? What does Torah say about adultery vs. what is common sin happening in Israel and all over the world? What about interest on monatey loans and what is happening in the banks today? And if Jews refuse to refrain from sins, God may pretty well punish them because they are chosen, and disobeying from chosen ones is intense because they are chosen to display examples.

A *Ben Noach* is someone who has decided to keep the 7 Laws of Noah (the Rainbow Covenant), and *all other moral laws or moral obligations in the Tanakh that pertains to non-Jews.* In other words, a Ben Noach keeps the natural and moral laws of the universe to please and glorify God alone.

So, all the things that are involved in producing, distributing, and delivering the food are necessary for others to accomplish. The person must necessarily produce waste. So, you have people operating garbage trucks, etc. And lets assume that there are people that maintain the structure where the individual is located. And lets also assume that there are utilities that must be maintained. The lights, plumbing, climate control, etc. And there are people that manage the governments that allow people to stare at walls all day. Both actions and inactions have consequences.

No Rabbi. There is a difference between punishment and consequences. Punishment has no lesson. It is purely misplaced anger.
Consequences have a lesson that is available to learn so the mistake will not be repeated.
    Psalm 23...
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me...
The rod is for correction, the staff is for direction. The comfort comes from knowing there IS a direction in the midst of correction.
Both are necessary for an individual to be healthy emotionally.
What good does it do to tell someone they are wrong, if you don't point them in the right direction?
Which also means, before we go pointing people in a direction, we need to make sure WE are heading the right direction..👍
I learned THAT one the hard way. 🙋‍♀️😬🤦‍♀️

☝🏽👀 This is why we must be careful not to blindly accept as truth everything a rabbi says. God has given us a mind of reason and conscience to use and question matters. Everyone has the "image of God" in them from the beginning of creation. So, rabbis are not perfect. They can easily slip into errors. We must always question to verify claims, understand truths in the Tanakh for ourselves, and place our trust in God alone.

@@mtalk828 It's refreshing to see posts by one such as you who does NOT "blindly accept as truth everything a rabbi says". It's interesting to hear everyone here talk about sin and punishment based on generally accepted standards of morality. However, when the discussion turns to something that requires greater depth ... such as insights into the WHY of the Holocaust .... there is only a silence with no significant insights whatsoever. I had a discussion on the subject of the Holocaust at 770 Eastern Parkway (in Brooklyn) with a number of Rabbis there and was actually surprised at the lack of insights as their responses were really questionable (to say the least). Perhaps these Rabbis are best suited to preaching to the masses, the herd that doesn't question what these scholars say.

What you should know about Curses, Witch craft is that to be involved in both or either you need to be free of God, who's character is Love. Which means, anyone on the planet can get involved in these activities.
So to avoid yourself being in this situaltion you can silently chant you are aware you live in Humans naturally religious system, from which humans are free of God. Mitzvah is a word commonly used as doing a good deed many times it is used saying you should spend your time doing Mitzvah or someone could ask how many Mitzvah's have you done lately?
In Fact the word Mitzvah in Hebrew literally means “commandment.” In fact, Jewish tradition understands exactly 613 mitzvot (plural of mitzvah) to be derived from the Hebrew Bible.

The most stunning passage about reward and punishment in the entire bible:
    2 “Listen carefully to my words;
let this be the consolation you give me.
3 Bear with me while I speak,
and after I have spoken, mock on.
4 “Is my complaint directed to a human being?
Why should I not be impatient?
    5 Look at me and be appalled;
clap your hand over your mouth.
    6 When I think about this, I am terrified;
    trembling seizes my body.
7 Why do the wicked live on,
growing old and increasing in power?
8 They see their children established around them,
    their offspring before their eyes.
    9 Their homes are safe and free from fear;
the rod of God is not on them.
    10 Their bulls never fail to breed;
their cows calve and do not miscarry.
    11 They send forth their children as a flock;
    their little ones dance about.
    12 They sing to the music of timbrel and lyre;
they make merry to the sound of the pipe.
13 They spend their years in prosperity
and go down to the grave in peace.[a]
14 Yet they say to God, ‘Leave us alone!
We have no desire to know your ways.
15 Who is the Almighty, that we should serve him?
What would we gain by praying to him?’
16 But their prosperity is not in their own hands,
so I stand aloof from the plans of the wicked.
17 “Yet how often is the lamp of the wicked snuffed out?
How often does calamity come upon them,
the fate God allots in his anger?
18 How often are they like straw before the wind,
like chaff swept away by a gale?
19 It is said, ‘God stores up the punishment of the wicked for their children.’
Let him repay the wicked, so that they themselves will experience it!
    20 Let their own eyes see their destruction;
let them drink the cup of the wrath of the Almighty.
21 For what do they care about the families they leave behind
when their allotted months come to an end?

@@mtalk828 - What was true when the book of Job was written, is true here on Labor Day, September 4, 2023: the wicked do, in fact, prosper.
Job's friends are accusing Job that all the calamity that has come upon him has come about due to his unconfessed sin and wickedness. God is only being just in his dealings with Job, because Job himself brought all the calamity upon his own head, through his own evil.
But we know before the story even begins that this is a lie. God sees Job as the most righteous person on earth, and yet he destroys his family and his wealth.
Job, very accurately states that he, a RIGHTEOUS MAN, has been treated by God as a great sinner, and that the great sinners are living blessed lives! Job cannot understand this, but yet it's incredibly obvious.
If Job were suffering due to his great sin, he would not have a complaint. But he's suffering only because God has ordained that he suffer.
It's the greatest mystery on earth: "Why do bad things happen to good people?" And also it's corollary: "Why do so many good things happen to bad people?"
In Job's story, divine reward and punishment breaks down entirely. It's an illustration of the old proverb: "No good deed goes unpunished." There are other stories throughout the bible like this, the other most famous one being the story of Joesph.
So, what does this passage say to us?
Looking for the just reward and punishment of people while alive on this earth is a waste of time. Reward and punishment does not come about while we are living life on this earth, ultimate reward and punishment comes only after our lives come to an end, and our spirit stands before the throne of God, who will accurately judge our lives at that time, and reward us according to what we have done during our life.
The wicked, though blessed greatly by God, will be held to account for all those blessings they were given. And they will have to stand before the throne of the Holy One, and explain to him, in person, why they failed to bless others with the blessings they themself received.
And the righteous, though cursed by God, will be held account for all those horrible things they were given. And they will have to stand before the throne of the Holy One, and explain to him, in person, how they continued to bless others even though they themselves were struggling with pain and suffering.
While everything on this earth all seems to be gray and murky when it comes to living life, once you are standing before the Holy One, absolutely nothing will be gray and murky any longer. Everything you ever did and thought will be made known, and you will not be able to deceive yourself any longer about either your goodness or your sinfulness.
At that point, it will all be only black and white, and there will be no gray.

@@ronzack4572 - Hmmm ... so *life is a test* to prove and develop us. And then after we die, we shall all be judged for all we said, did, and the thoughts we entertained. King Solomon spoke this judgement in Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, *"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Reverence God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil."*
Here, we see HaShem did not intend to justly punish and reward us in this life. Life is not to be a heaven on this finite earth. It is after we die, we will be rewarded. For how would God know who is truly His children if we are not proven by evil inclinations and oppositions?
Even in Islam, a faith close to Judaism, it states in the Quran 29:2-3, *"Do people think that they will be let go merely by saying: 'We believe,' and that they will not be tested. For We indeed tested those who went before them? Allah will most certainly ascertain those who spoke the truth and those who lied."* And then it says again in Quran 2:155-157, *"We shall certainly test you by afflicting you with fear, hunger, loss of properties and lives and fruits. Give glad tidings, then, to those who remain patient; those who when any affliction smites them, they say: 'Verily, we belong to Allah, and it is to Him that we are destined to return.' Upon them will be the blessings and mercy of their Lord, and it is they who are rightly guided."*
Here, we can see from the Quran that the idea of life being a test from God was taught for a very long time throughout muslim history, and Muslim's are in a unique way considered Ben Noachs.
In Genesis we see where God picks the first fight between righteous people and wicked people. In Genesis 3:15, He states to the serpent, *"I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."*
Always remember that God is the Director and Source of all things. He is Ever-Wise and Ever-Merciful. As Noahides, we are to live our best for His glory and try not to negatively question the circumstances He has placed us in. We can learn alot from Job.
      🙏🏽♥️Shalom

    neid!”
Psalmid (Laulud)122:Palve Jeruusalemma hea käekäigu eest
    1 Palveteekonna laul Taavetilt.
    Ma rõõmustasin, kui mulle öeldi:
    „Lähme Issanda kotta!”
2 Meie jalad seisid su väravais,
    Jeruusalemm.

    nagu hästi kokkuliidetud linn,
    4 kuhu läksid üles suguharud,
    Issanda suguharud tunnistuseks Iisraelile
    tänama Issanda nime.
5 Sest sinna on seatud aujärjed kohtumõistmiseks,
    aujärjed Taaveti kojale.

    6 Paluge rahu Jeruusalemmale!

kaks rahvast ega jagune enam kaheks kuningriigiks.
Jaakobile, kus teie vanemad on elanud; nad elavad seal igavesti,
nemad ja nende lapsed ja nende laste lapsed, ja Taavet, mu
    sulane, on igavesti neile vürstiks.
    nemad on mulle rahvaks.
    Saalomoni Tarkuseraamat
    11: Halastamise põhjus
23 Sina halastad aga kõigi peale,
    sest et sa suudad kõike,
    ja vaatad mööda inimeste pattudest,
    et nad meelt parandaksid.
24 Sest sina armastad kõike, mis olemas on,
ega põlga midagi, mida sa oled teinud,
sest sina ei olegi loonud midagi,
    mida sa ise vihkaksid.
25 Sest kuidas saaks midagi püsida,
    kui sina ei tahaks,
    või kuidas säiliks see,
    keda sina ei ole kutsunud?

    • @dronecruisers
      @dronecruisers 9 месяцев назад

Satan in Judiasim is doing work he was created for. We are not at war with Satan. Satan proves your character to God. In comparison to Christianity also should note Hell is a feeling, not a place. The serpent in the Garden of Eden is not Satan and the Devil is not Satan either and when learning who Satan is do not look to anything from the New Testament Bible. To finish awnsering your question if Satan is good? The awnser I believe would be yes or maybe replace word "good" with "nessasary" for allowing us freewill in life. Freewill comes from being able to choose between doing good or doing evil. The very bad evil things in the world do not nessisarily come from Satan. When you have good in your heart Satan's job is harder. For people that have allowed evil in their heart job is easy and at some point Satan probably is not even involved and the evil things some are doing are just the evil from that person and Satan did not do anything to get the person to do wrong and that is their character. Very good questions. I recommend please research more on Judiasim it is beautiful. I am not Jewish you should know also.

In Judaism satan is an accusing angel, a tempter, or your evil inclination. Without the bad, you wouldn’t be able to distinguish the good.
Satan in Judaism is equal to an act of evil. He’s not a living, breathing being that is at war with God, as Christians are taught.

I assume you are referring to kapparos ritual? It isn't about the chicken; it's about charity. "Charity will save from death" Proverbs 10:2. Before Yom Kippur there is a custom called kapparos, which many use a chicken for, though some use fish or just money. Prayers are said and either the chicken or fish is donated to the hungry or cash is given to the poor.
