Great video. What an awesome day. Love the snow falling. You are crazy for being out there with those air temps but I see why!!
Good Grief it was a fun trip. Thanks Gabe!
Hello Mike,
Wil and I normally don't comment on any anglers social networking. However, we enjoy what your doing with Mike Foster Outdoors. We both look forward to seeing you on the water in 2025. Until then, warm hands and may the net be needed.
Merry Christmas and New Year.
Carol & Wil Newlin
Thanks Carol, hopefully the net is needed this Monday. Happy Holidays.
Looks like a great time in the cold! Awesome video buddy!
Thank you! They were sure chewing that day!
Gotta love good ol newton great lake and its definitely going to be different when they shut the plant down
I know it, guess when it shuts down I will have to drive to lake of Egypt. I keep hoping they don’t shut it down but I heard the plant sight will turn into solar panel fields.
Yeah we fish newton every spring love that lake it's a bass factory
I agree. Its pretty fun going from my big glass boat that is loaded with graphs and tech to the 15’ aluminum boat with a 4” lowrance graph 😂
@MikeFosterOutdoors the tournaments i have fished there look like it's off shore brush piles deep that the have won off of.
Dang I was planning to do a tourney at some point. I may have to add a graph up front for that.
Pretty solid day.
Enough action to keep us warm 😂
@MikeFosterOutdoors 😂
Nice video! Tough conditions!
Thanks. That warm power plant water is special.
Hard to leave when they're biting like that! Great day!
Kevin you got that right. It took every ounce of my being to do it. We wanted to get home before dark because the roads got slick that afternoon. Thanks for stopping by.
I've had them hit the bait when it's hung and knock it off the snag. It's pretty neat when it happens!
I have seen it and you are correct, pretty cool to see. Thanks for stopping by Dave!
Awesome job
Thanks!
Great job guys. It's been several years since I've hit Newton or Turtle Creek. Looking forward to more content!
Both fun lakes at times. Hopefully tomorrow will be even better. Thanks for stopping by!
Great video
Thanks Joe. That lake is alot of fun some days.
Looks like you guys had an awesome day of fishing 👍
Was crazy to fish in snow, fog and 67 degree water 😂. Thanks for stopping by!
I've been debating whether to go to Newton in December after a mid November trip. Looks like I should have gone! So infrequent the plant running that I love seeing it going. Good luck on Monday as the weather should be prime. Thanks for updates on water temps, thought it might be colder.
I hope she is running. 🤞🏻
@@MikeFosterOutdoors Quick question: On your Newton winter videos (maybe you consider this trip late late fall?), you have caught them on squarebills, tubes, chatterbaits and A-Rigs. Do you fish flat-sided cranks or regular squarebills? Are you fishing chatterbaits and A-Rigs when the water temp gets a little colder? Interested if your bait choice is water temp dependent or based on something else. Hoping to get to Newton on the 16-17th of this month.
Brett I normally use the regular squarebills when the water is 58 or warmer, if colder than that I will switch up to flatside. I always throw a chatterbait some to keep it honest because somedays they will just chew that thing. Spinnerbaits slow rolled around the laydowns is another great bite. The times I have caught them on an arig was just tossing it around laydowns as well, its pretty cool to see them come up and chew that thing off of a laydown. The bigger fish normally come from the water temps that are below 60 for me. The main factors for them to bite good is if the plant is running and the weather is sloppy. I hope this helps and best of luck on your trip over.
@@MikeFosterOutdoors Thank you Mike!
James is my brother. He is a great fisherman. I’m very envious of you two guys right now.!!!!😂 him and I fish Lake Miriam together once.
We had a fun time. We are headed back this coming Monday. Thanks for stopping by man channel!
ya'll slay them
Hoping to do the same or better tomorrow. 🤞🏻
@@MikeFosterOutdoors go get'm weather is gana be nice
Chase is there today
Dec 10th
1 bass pic he sent fat rap craw
Ya ...have to be a Circus Clown to fish against these guys
Is why I retired and left my clown outfit at Raccoon lake
Lol
Jerry we talked to him today. He said that the caught quite a few on rattle traps.
@MikeFosterOutdoors
I've not heard from Chase
That much
Glad it's all
Safe fishing
Jerry shame on Chase, the first person I called after fishing trips was my Grandpa. I sure miss him.
any way to know if the plant is running before you go?
You can call the newton lake recreation office and sometimes someone will answer. I have left a message and they do call back.
Great video as always. What pound line do you throw your tube on
Bill its almost always 20 pound. Thanks
@@MikeFosterOutdoors thanks Mike can’t wait to see the next video
Awesome vid Mike
I haven't been down there for awhile
What was the water temp?
Did you fish the cold side?
Love the content
Water was 52 at the ramp and 67 on the north end. We just stayed on the warm side. Thanks for stopping by!
Mike what kind of hooks or heads do you use for your tube baits?
I use a 5/0 EWG hook for the 4.5 bigger tubes and 4/0 for smaller tubes and teardrop style head
shows you can catch them without livescope.
The little boat feels like going back in time honestly.
Just bring my winnings to league.... haha
Haha, I will be back next Friday.
Hey Mike do you have problems with your anti reverse when it's cold
Myron no and I have fished some single digit days. Might be because I practically free spool my reels. Our biggest issue the other day was fighting the level wind freezing solid.
@@MikeFosterOutdoors when I use to fish Coffeen in the winter and it was real cold I used some old Ambassador 5600 reels. The line guide is much bigger in those and they didn’t freeze up. I picked a few up from EBay and keep those handy for low temp days
What impressive catches on a very cold day. Thanks for sharing your experience in the “Tin Fury”
@@tharris4718 myself and Dustin have both have had issues twitching a bait and the real just let's lose then we are picking backlash out lol
@tharris4718 thanks. That little boat is refreshing, no depth finders, no fancy gadgets just you and the fish. Thanks for stopping by.
Did you give up on turtle creek?
No, it’s closed until February now. There sure are some big ones down there.
I hear they got a lot of catfish. I used to fish it back when it was 100+ fish a day. Good times
@rangerbull I never got to fish it back then. Only heard the awesome stories of when it had grass.
@ well I’m 77 so remember those days well
