Legendary Madan Ji is one who inspired many great composers and his compostions are gem of all sorts, he introduced Bhupinder Singh who later improvised himself from singer to guitarist in view of stiff competitions from great contemporary singers... Madan also assisted Dada Dada SD Burman to learn art of composing songs and arranging orchestration... Dada was very proud to Madan Ji's abilities and genius....
Manoj ji, very apt observation. In fact over the years, as I have been singing Bollywood retro songs I would record in my mind many sad songs which are such gems and are special because they are composed in major chords. The ones I can prominently remember are: Ye Dard bhara afsaana (LP), dil jo na keh sakaa (Roshan, has a happy version too in same tune), kya hua tera vaada (Pancham, won award for Md. Rafi), aaj ki raat mere (naushad, if you go through the lyrics you'll learn its filled with sadness), dekha hai zindagi ko kuch itna kareeb se (Ravi)
Brilliant.. a song with the same lyrics in slow & fast version. Sir can you enlighten us on facts about the song “teri aankhon ke siva duniya mein rakha kya hai” from the film Chirag also by the great Madanmohan
