I'm impressed by your methodical and professional approach, doing test hover before every lipo and double checking everything. I guess you learn to do that in these conditions, where one failure will end up losing the quad. And I can imagine, being on the ship and all, getting a new one isn't easy either. Much respect to you for sending it under high stakes, very interesting to watch the process. Fly safe :)
Thank you! Yes I do have to do all those just to not lose any quads. And yes, getting new parts are also next to impossible. I used to bring a lot of spares and I used to be screened by the customs in the airport. It did look like I was transporting goods for sale even if all those parts were for my personal consumption 😅. I used to bribg everything, now only an extra fc, esc, couple of motors and couple of arms.

why don't you launch from the upper deck of the bridge? from there you can steer on different sides and around the ship

Hehe, "If you don't know shit, it's dangerous"... Word my man. I do the exact same check to see if PID's are running amok on me, which I actually have tried. (Drone full sends, with no stick input)

LOL! It's actually true, even in real life it's dangerous. That moment flashed back to me during that moment when I armed the quad while holding it. I remembered that person telling me "dude that's dangerous", and I was so pissed/annoyed that time. I just smiled back to that person 😇. That's actually the point of arming it while holding it tight, if for any reason the fc/esc decides to go crazy then there is a high probability that it will do that during the first arming.

Thank you! I used to bring 12 Lipo's for my 5" quads. Then there's always a lot of questions in the airport. I reduced it down to 4 or 5 and now almost nobody asks anything about these batteries.

Thinkin a pepper box & a solar VTOL = fly way points out front on ship's coarse, into wind as far as you can through solar noon 10am -2pm, then glide &/Or burn back for evening touch down on boat 😀

I dismantle all my drones to the point that they appear to be tools or parts and not drones. You'll probably need to leave all your propellers on the ship so they wouldn't even suspect you for having a drone. You could also request for a different port to sign off.

How do you fly backwards at 7:56? Im a beginner fpv pilot and fly almost everyday. I like to watch the ‘ship flying’!

Hi! All you need to do is to pitch backwards, but only enough that you still can see in front of you, as a reference point. Don’t pitch back too much as you’ll end up looking at the sky, and you wont have any reference as to how the quad moves

Hi! I believe approx max 1km, less on this video. I don’t really push the range here as any time the wind can pickup really fast.
